It's funny. Ricky has been saying what Mark said about Bruno and Rashford for years. Bruno is all over the place. He is rubbish with a few class moments. Same with Rashford. It's not sustainable over time. We need better players in their positions.

AWB 8/10. Was a unsung hero today at LB. Being played out of position is hard enough. But he had both Johnson and Porro to deal with today. Rashford no surprise not tracking back to help out. But AWB was going above and beyond defensively. Made several blocks and interceptions in dangerous areas. Won back possession a few times. A few times Mainoo was getting pressured in deep areas and AWB stepped in and delt with it. Sure AWB didn't have much of a hand in the attack this game. But he was progressing the ball at every opportunity. And was single handily putting out fires all over the place.

Rashford has the football intelligence of a drunk sunday league player. One trick pony, kick and run, nothing else significant to his game.
£350k a week for a kick and rush player ...it's pathetic, and yet still selected. He can't pass, isn't creative, wastes chance after chance after chance.
He is a one trick pony, but he is the only player that looks dangerous. ETH might have to actually do some coaching if we removed the diagonal long ball.
If the team can't track runners, defend crosses, wingers who don’t track back or start 2nd half properly all season, that speaks volumes about the coaching. The players may not be good enough but poor team selection and substitutions don’t make it any easier. I am amazed how United pushed for an average player to delay their AFCON appearance yet better players ( Salah, Osimhen etc) reported in time and their teams continue to play well.
Even if the players are no good enough individually you can make them play as unit, as team. Look at some national teams who have no superstars how they produce results or some teams like Brighton or Aston Villa...
Sorry to say this, but Erik is mediocre coach at best. In similar boat to Frank de Boer. Great in Eredivisie, but will fail anywhere else he goes.

Ten Hag has no strategy and had no plan. Spurs looked better than us all around. Only way we get points is by individual brilliance from players like Garnacho or headers from Scott or rare goals from Rashy.

Mark has been slowly moving himself away from supporting Ten Hag. Most of us with half a brain knew it months ago.
It’s a complicated situation. We need the board to face the truth. The manager and most of our players are not good enough to compete with the 4,5 best teams in the league. I’m with mark on this. They should review the manager and the team this season and then get rid of everybody that is not part of the future.
We don’t have a top 4 squad so why only get a new manager now? Fix all together in the summer.

We need to remember we were just as poor at creating chances last season under Ten Hag, but Rashfords form masked over the issues. Now Rashfords out of form the frailties are being highlighted.

I would really want to know who the "these players" are that Mark is talking about all the time. He seems to like Varane, Mainoo, Eriksen, Bruno, Garnacho, Rashford and Hojlund. So who is he talking about? Dalot and Wan-Bissaka??? Other than McTominay who he is vocal about, but he only played 30 minutes. Anyone have any idea?

I think I asked this question a few weeks ago. It's always "these players" are crap, are hopeless etc.
But, as you said, it's only McTominay who he talks about. There are some crappy players in the squad, and there are some players who don't do their job properly. But the coaching seems to be seriously lacking because there's no footballing intelligence on display.
It was said Ten Hag was supposed to bring a style of possession based football playing out of the back and was a specialist in the players mentality and mental health. 18 months later we can’t play out of the back, rarely dominate a game in possession, and our players have the weakest mentality in the league. Sacking another manager won’t do anything, but there must be accountability

I know McTominay is poor Mark, but you go on like he's the biggest problem at the club. I've said it before, so, so many times, and I'll say it again. The biggest issue is recruitment. We've signed players for far more than they're worth, and paid them as such. When you do that, you're a) giving the fans and media the impression that they're top class, b) giving the players in question ideas above their station and no incentive to improve, and c) making it extremely difficult to move these players on when they aren't performing or have bad attitudes. Oh, and let's not forget, you're showing other clubs that you'll pay whatever they demand for players that are often unwanted or surplus to requirements. We've dug this hole for ourselves over a number of years, ever since we paid £89m for Pogba.
Trust me, the player recruitment (and probably staff recruitment/appointments too, given the above disaster) impacts on so many aspects of the team and club. Unfortunately, the Glazers, as businessmen, are predominantly interested in the bottom line, and the club's brand and global recognition. If we're not seen to be spending big on players, many fans go to pieces and complain about the level of signings we're making. It's a fucked up situation whatever way you look at it, and unless INEOS can crack the recruitment, operational structure and player/agent behaviour and mentality, I think the only way to change things is a full sale.

Carrick would be mad to leave Boro, although I don't actually mind an ex player as a temporary manager,so long as it ends up being a temporary appointment this time! Surely INEOS would have an idea of a manager they'd want. Besides which, until an effective DOF comes in, any managerial appointment isn't likely to change much. What bugs me is our inability to shift players. We're wage-heavy and full of dead wood.

Last year he improved loads, let’s see what spurs do next season. I’m not saying United don’t need to improve, but managers often get teams playing at first, then get worked out the following year

Simply put our entire club has been built around Bruno and Rashord but Bruno has too many off games and Rashford isn't good enough. Improve those two positions and we will be such a better team
I said this last season, when united were winning "they are only winning because of individual quality, not because of ten hag's coaching". And it's glaringly obvious that now that rashford isn't scoring enough they get caught out. Teng hag is not a good coach. There's no pattern of play and, there's no identity just hit and miss sometimes

It’s not binary when it comes to manager and players. It is both. If you are bringing up the GK, signed by the manager, for poor GK’ing on crosses, and are criticizing bringing on McT instead of Casemiro, then of course you cannot distance the manager from subpar performance.

You cannot put Bruno and Rashford in the same sentence. Bruno is much better and when surrounded with better ball playing players and tactics will become much more disciplined just like he is for Portugal! Rashford has been poor this whole season both are not comparable!

Mark come off it. Spurs without their 5 best players who would walk into a united side and played united off the pitch, spurs style of play doesn’t change whether it’s with their A side or B side. Ten Hag puts players on the pitch and hopes for the best. Maybe the players aren’t good enough but they certainly should be and whether you’ll admit it or not they’re coached extremely poorly. Ten Hag hasn’t a clue how to set them up or how to adapt to a game, a lot needs to change at united but Ten Hag is one of them. Because if this is what he’s doing then he can’t coach and if he’s trying to implement a style and it’s not happening then the players are not buying into it. Whichever it is the result is the same, sack him. Fans were laughing at spurs getting Ange in last summer and look how a good coach can rebuild a team practically over night. Players (Rashford) don’t get their heads up. Hojlund was in scoring positions several times, just waiting for the pass. Rashford, instead of looking up, did what he always does, dribbled into a sea of defenders and shot into legs. Inexcusable. He likes to glory hunt too much.

I know we played badly, but I think that we always have decisions going against us/ Udogi grabbed Ganacho and pulled him back with both hands and we didn't get a decision but as soon as Erikson just put one hand on result was a yellow card.. Just count the number of decisions that have gone against us and we have lost games.
