It’s so obvious. Hani wanted to hire buddy and also made a snide remark that CIA was inferior compared to Jordanian Intelligence. He also passes him the figs in respect to buddy’s mission in Incirlik which means fig orchard. Also like passing an olive branch ie peace.
FUN FACT: I love this movie… when Hani gives him figs… Figs are a heavenly fruit in the Koran, symbolising peace, prosperity and (for his “friend”) fertility… It was Hani’s very subtle way of signalling he wishes he and his future wife, good luck and prosperity!
They should have never deleted this scene … it tells the final story. I also agree that the Hani Salam Character is superbly played and is the most interesting of all … at least he is the counter balance of DiCaprio character.
If you guys get a chance to read to book. I enjoyed the movie but the book is much better. In the book it comes to light that Ferris has actual Arab ancestry. I think this scene was trying to throw that link in there. Also, the set up with the face jihadist is done exponentially better in the book. It is a throwback to a British operation done before the D-Day landings.
The ABILITY to ZOOM in that close but we still miss the weapon of mass destruction which lead us to war and was never found Really I guess we see what we want too
I have seen most of the deleted scenes in this movie. They would have made the movie much better. Too bad there has not be a sequel if you could keep the same actors and characters.

If they left this scene in the movie, then it would have left audiences believing it is a cliff-hanger hinting a potential sequel
You think?
Could you quote to me what Hani is saying cuz I don't get it?
@@Comrade4213hey lol

he gave him figs as a way of telling him he knew that the bombing at Incirlik ("fig garden") was a set-up by the americans
But you're not muslim, right?
@@francopeppe I’m not, but I’ve lived and worked in Muslim countries for decades.
Great scene and it shows us that Hani is still looking out for him and he's still with the girl. This is how the movie should have ended.

Extremely late entry, but I wished he started working full time for Jordanian intelligence.
I just realized this, but there’s a bunch of bodyguards in the background. It’s all the dudes with sunglasses, looking around.
lol I didn't notice .
Buddy chose the right side, himself!

Leo's hideous accent in this wonderful cool movie didn't add to his character.
Ferris left a government job , does he get benefits and pension ?
lord henry backwood
Going out of my way to boycott any one showing up in these ads.
they could have kept this one in!
i suppose as far as the film went, it wasn't vital to the 'story-telling'
One of the best edited scenes ever in movie history. Glad, the deleted shots were not part of the final cut.
شكلي العربيه الوحيدة هنا.
يحجي عراقي متحمسه اشوف الفلم
