I am astounded at the level of defense in this game. I saw one player even put her left hand in the air. In an apparent act of great manners, she immediately took it back down so as not to obstruct the shot.

More like just shooting the ball from the side 3 feet from the rim. It’s one of the easiest skills one can do and anyone that’s played ball regularly learns

Grinch Stones OH HELL NO!!! Not to be rude but it's hella hard to score trust me I was a shooter and you should've seen me at times. It's your skill
I'm honestly intrigued by the game. Would go to one but I don't think it's played here in the states
Grinch Stones at this level the score is high and that's just because of the attacking skills that all players have, I can see what you mean but if you watch highlights of games or defensive players you can see how great some of the players are. Also defensive can be really hard because if your player gets the ball in the goal circle in a good position then it is quite unlikely they will miss because of all the practice they do. It also makes it harder for the defence to get the ball because unlike sports like basketball you can't be right up in the players face when they have the ball or contact them (too much). I suggest looking at how hard Laura Geitz or Sharni Layton played and you will see how hard they work to get the ball, stop there players from getting the ball and sticking to there players.

I don't understand. Some girls jump and try to block the shot and then they just stand there and wait and the defender kind of walks away in shame. Wtf are the rules on this? Why are there people just standing still when she's shooting?
JustARandomStranger because you can't do anything like contact the player or you just have to stand next to them
when your'e defending a shooter or anyone in netball you have to be an arm length away or 3 feet away otherwise an obstruction is called where you have to stand beside the player you have obstructed.. its really hard than you think it is

you can't jump when you shoot so it's like free throws

Just provisions of the rules. You can’t actually obstruct the ball from going in on a shot. Them jumping like they’re blocking is just trying to distract them. The game is mostly about passing and positioning and working to get the ball deep inside of that shooting circle

What are the rules? I wonder if it’s fun to play in general. I just see it as basketball no backboard with a volleyball. Maybe slight traveling ok? Is it played to a certain score number?? I am so confused man
You cant move with the ball, you cant be within 3 feet of the person with the ball, and every position is only allowed in certain areas

no they don’t have to have both feet planted just the one they landed on, and i’m not sure what ur middle question meant?,and bounce passes are allowed just very easy to intercept so it’s uncommon

Professional netball seems much more complex than how I play at school lol, but that’s expected, we aren’t professionals and like most of the girls break the rules 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ I’ve been wanting to get back into playing but my school doesn’t do netball for sixth form and idk where else I can join

Sure. So basically the defenders have to time their intercepts (catch the ball when it is being passed between the other team). If they can cover all of the other players and the other team can’t pass the ball within 3 seconds, they get the ball (this is called held ball).
A main aspect of defending in netball is basically intimidating the other team. So when you see a defender putting their arm over the ball while someone is shooting, this isn’t usually an attempt to get the ball, it’s designed to intimidate the shooter into missing the goal, and the defenders can get the rebound.
-Every goal is worth 1 point.
-You can’t lift the foot you land on once you have the ball.
-you have to pass within 3 seconds
-you can touch other players, but not when they have the ball.
It’s important to have a lot of control, with passing, defending, and footwork. Every moment must be precise and there is no room for error.

I play this game for into school sport at school every Friday 9 am till 11 where we vs other schools and the school that hasn't lost any game at all goes final and guess what our school is going FINALS. YAY YAY YAY YAY. btw I'm Center. I LOVE NETBALL

I'm seeing so much negative comments from people who have probably never watched or played a full game of netball before. When I was younger I used to think netball was stupid but then in p.e we played it for 5 weeks and I suddenly liked it. I started playing netball this year and it's now my favourite sport, if you give it a go with an open mind you'll see it's not actually bad (also heaps of boys at my school always try out for the inter-school sport netball team so it doesn't matter what gender you are)

Netball is a highly strategic sport that is way more challenging than basketball, both physically and in the technique required (I’ve played both for many years).
Netball is not an “adjusted” version of basketball and it is certainly not simpler.
No one can even begin to question me on this.

Because I have played basketball for many years and Just because people are taller, doesn’t make a sport harder.
Also, don’t you think netball has coaches?? there are way more possibilities for game plans in netball (ones that actually require way more strategy).
Playing netball also requires much more precision and control. Our shooters need a flawless technique as there is no backboard and the hoop is much smaller. And our defenders need to be able to accurately read the play in order to intercept the ball without smashing into someone.
I think you’re the one confusing the definition of challenging. Imagine actually having to use your brain during a game.
I’d love to see you attempt netball because I guarantee you wouldn’t last a minute.

@@haleybryan3606 but your netball is much lighter. I used lighter balls to improve my shooting technique. I will have no problem in netball because the defender will not chase me and we will have a gap from one another. Playing netball will be in my favor because I don't play physical game in basketball.
@@j.r.h.9265 the defender will still chase you, the only thing they can’t do is push you etc. if played correctly, there shouldn’t be a gap. This is because the defender can stand on/with the player who the ball is being passed to, thereby preventing the pass.
