@@frankvillianarc i think the eternal flame vegapunk mentions is related to the flame fruit. Maybe if law makes sabo immortal then an eternal flame can exist or through flame awakening. I think nika was an actual being before being turned to a fruit, so like his race had rubber powers like lunarians with flames and nika became the first person to ate a fruit the flame fruit (becoming known as the sun god in the process). When he died they made the nika fruit from his lineage factor (lets say nikas body had some flame liniage factor left from the flame fruit) which is why when they made the nika fruit that flame factor also transferred over. This explains why luffy is able to use small portions of flame attacks. This could also mean that if luffy eats the flame fruit then he wont die from eating 2 fruits since he already has some mera lineage factor. Its no coincidence the sun gods brothers both ate the flame fruit.

Rob lucci knows haki tho, the iron body technique is actually armament haki, which is confirmed by jimbei when he fought who's-who, who was showcasing his rokushiki techniques one by one, and when jimbei uses armanent haki he says to whos who "and this must be iron body then" which means rob lucci atleast knew armament haki in enies lobby so he can attack fire luffy

Getting "killed" is not a confirmed trigger for the awakening of the Gomu Gomu no Mi. We still don't know what triggered it. Luffy had may moments where he almost died or believed to be dead like in Impel Down. There the awakening was not triggered. There must be something else to it!

Like I said in the previous comments, we still dont know what really triggered the awakening of the gomu gomu no mi. Oda hasn't given a clear answer to that. I dont believe it was the "near death experience", because Luffy had a ton of over the course of the story! Let's wait and see what happens!

Like I already stated in a few comments to this question, we still don't know what the real trigger of a devil fruit awakening is. It can't only be the death of a character. Because then Ace on Marineford and Smile on Punk Hazard should have awakened their devil fruits. But they didn't. So it has to be more than that! Maybe it has something to do with the thesis that Vegapunk has about the creation of the devil fruit abilities. Maybe it has something to do with the desire or the wish, with which the powers came into existance. This has to be clarified, before we can argue how and when a devil fruit awakening is triggered!

Death is not a confirmed trigger for the awakening of a devil fruit. In the original timeline Ace didnt awaken his devil fruit after he died!

We still don't know if death is the trigger for an awakening. There are ton of examples why it isn't just death or a near death experience. It has to have another trigger. Maybe the wish for the creation of the power has to be alligned with how the user wants to use the fruit in the current timeline

I don't think so. On Marineford Ace could't inflict any damage against Kuzan. Even Akainu fought for 10 Days against Akainu. A Luffy just with the mera mera no mi and no haki has absolutly no chance against Kuzan on Long Ring Long Land!

Also I'd like to think that the Logia might have the most "boring" awakening. In that it would take the ability to its maximum and thus like the thumbnail implies he might just permanently gain the hottest blue flames possible. Which MAY (we can't possible do more then speculate) negate the "type advantage" weakness.
