      @Ryan Jones you are a person that is sick in the head and heart and a threat to others if you ever think violence is the answer to any political matter. When you stop believing in humans ability for understanding and compassion all that you are left with is brute force but bruce force can't bring peace because it can't bring agreement. There is no peace without agreement only temporary dominance soon to be overturned by a stronger more brutal kind of dominance and so on.
      If that is really the world you want go ahead...
      That's just hell
      Cool down your anger you might have your reasons for feeling the way you do I'm sure but its a sad way to go about it, its absolutely detrimental to everybody no matter their opinions. Surely you can do better, keep the faith

    my entire life i just knew Andrea by reputation and had this image of her as an irrational, man-hating feminist who hated sex. as i'd always suspected, that image was crafted very deliberately, using the same tools of misogyny that get used to malign feminists today. what finally made me realise that Andre was actually certified Based and Epic was... actually reading her work... going straight to her, instead of just hearing what other people said about her. i had this assumption that when she spoke it would be an aggressive, deep voice because i'd just been told she was this 'scary' figure, but it's calm, measured and gentle. how much of this internalised misogyny do i still have to work through???

    She tells with such clarity what problem women face. She was so spot on about how things will turn out if women passively wait for things to change. We have to take charge, reunite sisterhood and make our feminist predecessors proud again.

    • @bt9833
      @bt9833 Před 2 lety +3

      I agree. My frustration with us as women sometimes is that I do think we as women can be too passive. We are so keen to fit the " good girl " or " nice girl " image that we just keep quiet and accept whatever people say. Then later we complain that things aren't going the way we want.
      I've learned something : In life , you don't get what you deserve, you get what you're willing to stand up and ask for. That's the reason why women keep losing. We can be too afraid to ask for what we want because we're afraid of losing face or our public image. Its a bit depressing because you then start to wonder how are things ever going to change if no one is willing to speak?

    Q : "You have been wondering whether law is an appropriate tool for the protection and also for the advancement of women?"
    D : "What I feel is that we have got to use what we’ve got. And what we’ve got isn’t very much. And… we’ve got to find some way to keep the rapist off the street. Now there are different ways of doin it. Law is only one way of doint it. I myself favour violence. Deeply, I favour it. And the reason that I favour it is that the law isn’t working. And as long as the law isn’t working, women, who have been attacked, or who are being attacked, need to be able to understand that they have a right to defend themselves against anyone who is attacking them. Many people prefer the legal system. I don’t blame them for that. I wish it would work. It’s not working. We have another… fifty years… to try and get it to work. We have a woman, whose name I am not remembering right now, who killed a paedophile who raped her son. It was clear that he was going to be acquitted, so she shot him. In my view, she did the right thing. I admire her for what she did. So I am willing to sit wown with my sisters to think of a dozen other things that we can do, that are not terrible things, to do. But… we have to do something. We can’t do nothing. That is my answer to you."

    Some passages from Andrea Dworkin's Chapter 9 of Woman Hating.
    incest: "The parent-child relationship is primarily erotic because all human relationships are primarily erotic. The incest taboo is a particularized form of repression, one which functions as the bulwark of all the other repressions. The incest taboo ensures that however free we become, we never become genuinely free. The incest taboo, because it denies us essential fulfillment with the parents whom we love with our primary energy, forces us to internalize those parents and constantly seek them, or seek to negate them, in the minds, bodies, and hearts of other humans who are not our parents and never will be. The incest taboo does the worst work of the culture: it teaches us the mechanisms of repressing and internalizing erotic feeling-it forces us to develop those mechanisms in the first place; it forces us to particularize sexual feeling, so that it congeals into a need for a particular sexual “object”; it demands that we place the nuclear family above the human family. The destruction of the incest taboo is essential to the development of cooperative human community based on the free-flow of natural androgynous eroticism."
    bestiality: "Primary bestiality (fucking between people and other animals) is found in all nonindustrial societies. Secondary bestiality (generalized erotic relationships between people and other animals) is found everywhere on the planet, on every city street, in every rural town. Bestiality is an erotic reality, one which clearly places people in nature, not above it. The relationship between people and other animals, when nonpredatory, is always erotic since its substance is nonverbal communication and touch. That eroticism in its pure form is life-affirming and life-enriching was sufficient reason to make bestiality a capital crime in the Dark Ages, at least for the nonhuman animal; sufficient reason for the English in the Dark Ages to con fuse sheep and Jews." and also "Needless to say, in androgynous community, human and other-animal relationships would become more explicitly erotic, and that eroticism would not degenerate into abuse. Animals would be part of the tribe and, with us, respected, loved, and free. They always share our fate, whatever it is."
    pedophilia: "As for children, they too are erotic beings, closer to androgyny than the adults who oppress them. Children are fully capable of participating in community, and have every right to live out their own erotic impulses. In androgynous community, those impulses would retain a high degree of nonspecificity and would no doubt show the rest of us the way into sexual self- realization. The distinctions between “children” and “adults,” and the social institutions which enforce those distinctions, would disappear as androgynous community develops."

    • @blinkypushbuttons
      @blinkypushbuttons Před 3 lety +20

      “Dworkin's work from the early 1980s onward contained frequent condemnations of incest and pedophilia as one of the chief forms of violence against women, arguing that "Incest is terrifically important in understanding the condition of women. It is a crime committed against someone, a crime from which many victims never recover."[104][105] In the early 1980s she had a public row with her former friend Allen Ginsberg over his support for child pornography and pedophilia, in which Ginsberg said "The right wants to put me in jail," and Dworkin responded "Yes, they're very sentimental; I'd kill you."[106] When Hustler published the claim that Dworkin advocated incest in 1985, Dworkin sued them for defamatory libel; the court dismissed Dworkin's complaint on the grounds that whether the allegations were true or false, a faulty interpretation of a work placed into the "marketplace of ideas" did not amount to defamation in the legal sense.[99]”
