I think Ahti is that way because we still don't know the nature of the character. He in Control guides Jesse throughe the maze, and in alan wake 2, he is the one that opens doors for you and guide you through the dark place. Also, Ahti usually reference water because Ahti is the god of water in Finnish Mythology. One thing that interesting about Ahti is that he is the only character that can move between reality and the dark place, not like alan or saga.

Alan is a writer and his whole thing is a single entity and a single town
There is no real way to make him more than that
Having it end on a cliff hanger makes sense
Alan started it got lost in the darkness wrote tons of stories
    In doing so created allies
Alan "created" saga was created to free him
Alan made the town stop the darkness
But jesse is something that slipped by
She is the fighting power alan needs to directly combat the darkness
She fought against awveral supernatural forces including another big one like darkness
    She fought sound (the hiss)
We might get another story of a new person or a combined story of jesse and alan facing the threats

As a fan of Remedy studios and their games for 20 years, I can proudly say that Alan Wake 2 left me with my mouth open multiple times and continues to do so because I haven't finished it yet. From story, to sound design and visuals, everything is amazing and I couldn't help but get reminded of Max Payne 1 and 2 with the rambles of Casey, the random appearances of the janitor, the oh so melancholic ambient sound of creaking buildings and doors. so yeah, Remedy has done it again.

I don’t think it left us in the same spot though - it isn’t a loop, it’s a spiral. It only looks like a loop since you do the same thing, but change enough you spiral within or without.

I dont understand the hype. This game is BORING as hell. It has good graphics.. THATS IT. Boring gameplay, awful writing, replacing characters for the same of "inclusivity." Idk how anyone finds this game fun. You literally walk back and forth to the same spot 100 times and find clues. Thats the entire game. If you try to explore, youll find NOTHING because you're not suppose to be there yet. You dont even need to do the clues right. The game will figure everything out for you if you just click buttons.. Its mind-numbingly boring. Combat is nothing but bullet sponges, burn with light, run, shoot, rinse and repeat for the entire game. I dont get it, everyone loves this game. 10/10 across the board. Something isnt right here. Someone got paid off or something. Theres just nothing here, bland story with bland characters and shitty combat, with simplistic childlike puzzles. Rinse and repeat.

If you think of it like Alan wake 1 released a week before this, the ending is ,while not good , decent. They don’t stray away from the “looping” nature of the dark place and Thomas Zane in an initiation 8 also mentioned, it’s not a loop it’s a spiral showing they kinda did set it up and it was not out of nowhere and also it was similar to how Alan wake 1 it was it’s not a lake it’s an ocean. With both the sequels we learn a lot more about the dark place and now Alan would have a much better approach to it as in the starting of the game he was like what the fuck and asspulls everywhere. Now he understands all that and it would be interesting to see his approach in the dlcs announced. The spiral thing also represents a writers/artists nature and how they start off with nothing and if they don’t stop making or creating they eventually get a better result and become more popular in reference to how Alan would eventually reach the end.But yeah if I had to wait 13 years , I would have been a bit distasteful the end

  • @DreadKyller
    @DreadKyller Před 7 měsíci +3

Have to strongly disagree on the ending, though I understand much of that wil be personal preference, however (spoilers below)
Saying the ending brings us back to square one is simply incorrect. There are more people now in the dark place to assist us, Alan still has his memories unlike at the start of AW2, Alan understands the mechanics at play far more completely, and the final line "It's not a loop, it's a spiral" has some massive implications. A loop, as Alan had been thinking of it has no end, no beginning, moving in either direction leads to the same place, you can't break out of a loop. A spiral has a start, and it has an end, you can spiral inwards or you can spiral outwards, there are multiple directions to move in. The first game is the descent, the second game is the understanding, paving the way for the third to be the ascension. Just like Alan's books from the game, Departure (AW1), Initiation (AW2), and Return (AW3). The dark place is a complex knot, where the characters are looking it over trying to find where to pull to unravel it, and ends with them finding the end of the string so the process of unraveling the knot can begin.

He's done with his descent by stopping Scratch and now he's ready for the ascension stage like Alice said at the end. Hope it doesn't take 13 years for a new one, although I'm sure Alan and/or the characters in his games will appear in control 2 (which is next) or any other games Remedy plans on making. They nailed created their own game universe after all these years!

the name ahti comes from finnish mythology and seems to have some connection to the sea and seafaring. ahti is viewed as heroic and even referred to as “hero of the islands in some songs”. it is also expressed that his voyages began after his wife broke a vow to stay faithful.
