Banning a play because it's dangerous is one thing. Banning a play just because it's difficult to stop is something completely different
Exactly how I feel if it’s a legit safety reason yes but mostly people are just crying cause it’s the eagles
How about banning it because it's boring af?
How about the current rules limitations for the defense pretty much make it impossible to stop?
how about teams stop letting us get to the 1 yd line and stop us from getting into short yardage situations.... unfortunately they are not stopping us so they face the consequence of their own actions
@@Nortronfulnah. Just let the defense push too. I’m a Cowboys fan. Hate the Eagles. But don’t think it should be banned. Just let the defense do the same and don’t hide behind the banner of “safety.” Sherman is right. It’s about helping the offense REGARDLESS OF THE TEAM DOING IT and hindering defenses even more.
I watched Mac Jones and the Patriots fail miserably at it against the Jets. No one complained about it nor even talked about that play. Billy B and Toms QB sneaks were literally unstoppable and he cant even figure out the tush push/ brotherly shove.
You can't ban something because one team does it better than others. But if the NFL bans this the Eagles will just have Mailata line up at FB and go full Rugby on anyone who wants it, then next they're wanna complain about handing the ball to 6'7" 340Lbs who run 4.7 and can protect the ball.
Steve Atwater, Akoye, that can be stopped.
Thinking about making this the teams to attempt and fail the tush push thread...
Watching more games from last week. I Just saw the bears attempt the tush push at 23 seconds remaining in the third "4th and 1" they also miserably failed at it. But they're the bears and fail at everything🧸.
Nobody would complain about a fullback running the ball lol
I'm sure will go down since on raiders now but I believe percentage wise Jimmy g is still the QB sneak goat as odd as it sounds, think over 95% something crazy like that.
@kb9826 Akoye was 240, Mailata is 360...we are talking about 120 LB difference....Mailata would steamroll Atwater
Even as a Giants fan I have to say, what is holding other teams back doing it too? I don't think there is a rule that only allows the Eagles to do it. Get better and do it too, then every team will have the "advantage"
They don’t have quarterbacks that can put up 600 pounds on a squat rack. The eagles do. Go look at his college squatting videos where he’s out lifting linemen. He’s a monster. I don’t care how good your offensive line is chicken legs Mac Jones just can’t hang with this.
Of find a way to stop it. I wouldn't be surprised id the Eagles Defense has managed to find a way to stop it.
@@aboyo6230 zip him up when you done buddy
Not having size on the OL 😂
I think the eagles honestly drafted this guy on his athletic ability alone. They already had a QB and a pretty solid offense at the time they drafted him and probably just saw a freak athlete still available in the second round and decided he could be useful for something. The fact he became what he is doesn't surprise me, I am surprised someone else hasn't tried putting an RB under center to try this. I know not every QB can but I bet Saquon can.
Reminds me of the people who boo at MMA events whenever there's a wrestler holding a dude down 😂 It's not his fault you can't stop the takedown and get back up, get better.
That's a great analogy

Literally nothing like that… you’re equating a technique used in 1v1 to a team sport technique…

The problem is this and MMA are entertainment. When entertainment gets boring it’s bad for the sport.
I think it's just funny how the Eagles always end up on the 1 yard line.
Better than fumbling at the one out the back of the endzone. I'd rather an &goal at the 1.

Honestly, the only reason this play works is because It's THE EAGLES. Jason Kelce, Lane Johnson, Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, lot of beef on that line. Little wonder it's so hard to stop.
It's not unfair, Philly's just stacked.
It also helps when your Q.B can squat half the weights in the gym!😂
Arizona did it successfully 3/3 times today
But it is the only play allowed where folks can keep pushing the ball carrier until the whistle blows. Can't push RBs this way to gain yards.
@@timclaus8313
Are you dumb? You absolutely can and it happens every game. What you can’t do is keep them upright and pull/carry them.
@@timclaus8313actually, you kinda can. You just can't pull the ball carrier. I've seen MANY times where a RB or WR gets stopped and get pushed ahead a couple yards before the whistle blows.
Not an Eagles fan but at the end of the day, Jalen can squat 600 pounds and most quarterbacks can’t do that so either way it’s gonna work
I feel like i could confidently say hurts has the strongest lower half for a qb of all time
First quarterback in history that has to add plates to the bar after his tackle has finished squatting.

It only is an unfair play if every team can do it successfully. You still have teams failing qb sneaks all the time, so this isnt an unfair play, it is just the eagles utilizing their strengths. This is no different than having a 6'7 receiver and throwing jump balls in the endzone.
Or a very fast receiver forcing a 2 high look most of the time
Jalen hurts squats 500lbs +
but yet why cant the linebackers push the defensive lineman thru hmmm because its what?
Terrible analogy
I swear, you normies don't even watch the videos or listen to any counter arguments whatsoever. You come straight to the comment section and spew this nonsense.
Most of the time Hurts gets over the line without even really getting pushed all that much.
tom brady had an 82% success rate with qb sneaks and leads the league in qb sneak attempts all time, nearly double the second player. sometimes a player or team just finds something that works. if other teams could do the tush push they would, but they can't. and the only reason the eagles are getting hate for it is because they're using it regularly on 4th down rather than situationally.
Jimmy G is also an elite QB sneaker, learned from Brady. I think I heard he’s like 93% all time.
The problem that people have is that there is no way to defend against it due to the rules, not just because its successful. You can defend against a QB sneak (even though it is a high percentage play) by going for the ball or by stuffing the QB (who isn’t being assisted)
Oh well lol
Also, no one likes Philly
So the Chiefs have to do it once and the NFL will ban it 😂😂😂😂
As an Iowa fan, we used to run this play all the time when we needed a yard and we had a healthy QB. Boils down to this, If you don’t want a team to score, don’t let them get to the goal line.
Don't let their OL dominate TF out of you tbw. If you go full run commit and they push you back... they are better than you. Football. The OL being set is important tho. Need more film.
Rugby has no place in the NFL if you like rugby go watch rugby games it's only because the team is unable to convert short yardage and has to cheat to do it just kick a field goal or play fair .
I want to watch a football game not rugby it's totally ridiculous.

This same kicker hit me in the ass with one of his kicks, I feel like he shoulda worried less about me and more about kicking the f*cking ball. 😂 (I was a guard btw)
Love this show. Thanks for making it. The insight is incredible.
This whole segment had me WHEZZING 🤣
I remember way back when Boomer Esiason and the Bengals began running the 'hurry up' offense for the entire game. Opposition coaches were up in arms about it because they couldn't make their defensive substitutions for specific downs. But it's just like in this case. The Bengals did extra conditioning training in the pre-season so they would be used to running play after play with no huddle for entire quarters. The defense were not as conditioned, meaning, eventually the Bengals wore them down. In addition, the offense had package plays they ran so they didn't need a lot of interaction from the Offensive Coordinator- Boomer was just calling set plays. So, it worked out that they were always prepared for what was happening and the defense were just trying to make do.
So many coaches wanted that banned. But... it was a legitimate tactic. It meant that Defensive Coordinators had to adapt their way of doing things in order to cope with Cincinnati, but it didn't ruin the game or anything.
How many Super Bowls or playoff games for that matter did Boomer win 🤔
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I dont think it should be banned but what i dont understand is that why does it take so long for the forward progress to end compared to the other plays where it's almost immediately?
I believe it has to do with rate of movement of the ball, if the balls moving at a certain rate they won’t call the play dead, not 100% on that one though
too many bodies all moving in one direction
Its so different
Usually when forward progress gets called the player is wrapped up. That's not the case here, so they give it more leeway. Same thing happens for any play where there isn't a clear wrap up.
Hell, you can hit/throw players backwards, and if you don't hold onto them, then they lose the previous forward progress and it reestablishes back where they are now... All because you didn't wrap up.
I say keep it in! Everyone complained at Belichick's methods for so long until people started adapting to it and creating ways to stop him. If they haven't figured out a way to stop the Brotherly Shove, that's on them. Someone will eventually
An elbow to the spine, and he won't do it anymore.
Urmm everyone literally cries at Belichicks inventions. The extra offensive lineman was screamed to high heavens by Harburgh in 2014. Jamie Collins jumping over the centre on special teams.......
Every way to stop it is already illegal for defenders
"You need to find a way to stop it." And Pat calls that high level analysis 🤣
I got it ,just allow the defense to do the same on regular plays but not on Kicks or punts
realistically, they never would, the formation would be 100% readable to the offense and they would just run outside or pass
I think what other teams need to do, is now bring back the fullback or use the tight end to do the QB sneak. Difference is a lot of teams don't have Jalen Hurts but if you get a Tight end whose big and strong he might get a big enough push in the QB sneak.
Other teams don’t have the eagles interior line tho
It will be allowed until a skill player is hurt on the play, especially a QB. Won't matter if any defenders gets hurt. The NFL doesn't seem to much care about defenders these days.
Yessss Coach nailed that outro!!!
Nah shouldn't be banned but the defense should be allowed to do something as well like idk maybe leap on a teammate to try and stop it
That would never work. If you're in the air, you're just going for a ride into the endzone
@@theamaeve8175 not if you can time it and hit the QB and again I said something idk what it is but you gotta give the defense a way to defend it

I understand Sherman's point but you have to take into consideration they were trying to save the long snapper from getting murdered. The LS is in a far more prone position than your standard center. Its not quite a 1:1 comparison.
Then why not make the rule specific to field goals and punts? The defense can't push each other, but the offense can. It is very unbalanced right now.
@@BamaShanksI'm assuming it was worded the way it was because they didn't factor in every potential outcome. Sherman specifically mentions FGs and PATs so that's the extent to which my response goes.
100%... this isn't new anyways. Since beginning of time an OL can come up, usually hit his own guy from behind, and push the pile. Seldom see an injury there, even at full speed, this is short yardage
@@cliffhooper3558 this is exactly why I don't think there's grounds to ban it. You ban it than you have to ban OL pushing a pile into the endzone.
It's neutering defense while constantly making offense easier to make games have higher scores. Why not just stop two handed tackling guys will score more? Point is it's ridiculous. Either let the defense shoot the gaps or end the push.
Leverage is illegal for the defense but not the offense.
Makes complete sense.
It absolutely makes sense. You can push someone on your own team but you cant push an opposing players head down and jump off their back. Centers and long snappers are very vunerable. Leverage rule protects them. Its two complety different scenarios. Your welcome.
@jordancruz9072 I'm trying to figure where he said anything about the scenario you just created 😐
@@jordancruz9072yeah but letting centers and guards get so low to where you have no other choices but to push their heads down makes it stupid.
@@jordancruz9072 Thats not even the rule you dolt. Defenders aren't allowed to launch/leverage off their own teammates on kick attempts or anything else either
So what?
Everyone forgot about the Bush push back when Reggie got pushed into end zone to win the game against Notre Dame
I was a longsnapper in high school. Some teams would have a designated dude waiting for my head to come up who would then *unload* on me and knock me flat (if they hit me before my head came up, it was a personal foul and an automatic 1st down). They weren't after the punter; they were trying to either injure me or hit me so hard that I'd be too distracted to do a good snap.
Losing your QB is a bad day, so teams usually have one or two backups. Losing your kicker limits your scoring options (no more PATs or field goals), and almost no teams have backup kickers. Losing your longsnapper takes out punts, PATs, and field goals. I get why some teams target the longsnapper, but it was always a dick move.
Doesn't even matter, Hurts gets the first down everytime before he even gets pushed. Brotherly Shove it

When I first saw it, it reminded me of USC vs. Norte Dame from when Matt and Reggie were there
If the push isn't essential to the tactic then allow the defensive line to do the same.
They can do the same. They can't on field goals
It's a special situation play only. Not like it's run every down. Plus if it was so cheap and cheating then every single team would do it and do it with 90% success.
Exactly. If it is such a cheat code why isn’t everyone doing it with the same success
AJ's smirk on defensive pushes lmao
How about when a receiver catches a pass and get 2-3 defenders on him and then you see offensive linemen come into the picture pushing them for extra yardage? I haven’t heard anyone bring that up.
Pushing from behind is legal, so pushing isn’t the problem. I guess people just feel like it’s an unfair advantage on the sneak plays.
It’s going to get banned next year, like it or not. They moved the XP back because it was “too automatic”. Seems like a very similar situation to me.
that's a good way of thinking about it - get rid of things that are just automatic. for the health and competitiveness of the game. although, if it's so good why can't other teams replicate?
But it's not automatic for everyone... There's just one team that has mastered it and has the qb with the skills to pull it off. Changing rules because one team is good at something is very different to changing rules because it's automatic.
Then all QB sneaks have to be banned. You can't have it both ways. This is simply a QB sneak done better than everyone else does QB sneaks. People hate it because it's Philly and there's so much irrational hate for the team's fans and, by extrapolation, the team and what it does. All these crybabies need to grow up or find another sport to mess up with their arbitrary rules.
that’s not happening lil bro qb sneaks have been around a long time everyone’s favorite qb tom brady has the most qb sneaks and doubles the person closest to him. sorry lul homie ik you want a legal play to be banned but it’s been around to long already
@@wockcup38 Thats a terrible example because Brady was doing real QB sneaks at the half year line where he just needed to reach the ball over. The Eagles will run this "sneak" at 4th and 2 damn near.
I love it, i think more teams need to do it to get 1 yard. But Sherman has a point, they have taken away defensive players using momentum and leaping to make cetain plays. But also, learn how to stop it, the league always adapts at some point.
Exactly, either ban the push or allow defence to push again
I gotta be honest brother, just from a physics standpoint, it's near impossible to stop with consistency. You would need the D exerting force in precisely the right way without pushing each other cause it's illegal + The offense messing up their angles and leverage resulting a super low force output, OR you need to be able to bench and squat 500lbs more than each of the OL lol.
I agree, no shot it should be banned, that would be a super weak move imo, but I agree with Sherm they should let the D push back if Hurts can have 2 additional backfield players pushing him into his OL.
You love it? 🤡🤡🤡
You love it cause only one team does it and it’s cool right now, once the whole league starts doing it and 3rd and 4th and short conversions start happening at a crazy rate you will say it’s lame and their needs to be a rule. It will ruin goal line and short yardage situations
@@claytonreid996that’s what I’m saying you physically can’t stop it, the buccaneers have vita vea and a damn good linebacker core and they couldn’t stop it stacking the box completely. When you have 4-5 200+ pounders pushing to get 1 yard you can’t stop that. When every team adapts the style goal line and short yardage situations are gone completely, easy conversions everytime
I love that play. It's a rugby style play. It goes back to the inception of the sport. It's cool as hell

Its not rugby style tho.
There are rules based around the scrum to protect players and it stops if it collapses etc
If they made it safer with rugby type rules it wouldn't be effective.
Linebacks and safeties need to come up and push. 2 opposing forces pitted against each other. Only thing I'd say is line should maybe be set position and maybe just maybe the ball on a consistent ready set hike only.

you do realize why this is flawed logic? 1) the offense gets first motion as they know when they are moving which is an auto W for them, more importantly, the only way you would effectively stop this is if you had ALL of your players on defense linemen size to equal enough force to be able to apply any type of push back. Its not like these guys are using their TE and receivers to do this they are bringing in a jumbo package and the defense cant just commit to bringing on a jumbo because then you can get burned by the fact they could just do a dump off pass with no one guarding. You could put all the defenders on the line pushing and they'd still get pushed back by the line because the offense can just max the size and strength for the push + get the momentum which is potentially the most important advantage of this.
@masonrieber8674 what a dumb take, firstly the snap is an even exchange. Thats why the best defenders predict the count and move as the ball moves and did you really just say offensive lines are bigger and stronger than d lines? I think defenses are simply not matching packages. They've got 7 in the box a qb and a rb to push and 1 guy as the "I might throw" that means a corner on him. Someone matching the rb and everyone else in the box. The problem here is defenses are giving way to much credit to the potential of a throw or just hoping their trying to draw them offsides and not responding accordingly.
7:54 😂
I would say the arguments to ban it would be valid if every team did it with the same efficiency. This isn’t a strategy thing. Only one team in the league has the personnel to pull this off. Most teams don’t even try it because they don’t have one of the best centers in recent memory or a qb who can squat half the d-line
If you look at a lot of the replays you see the oline already has the yardage without any push. The pushes are often minimal or inconsequential. I agree with those that say this team would be just as successful without the push. That o-line is the best in the league by far and jalen is a beast with his legs. That’s how they’re converting on these plays.

If the defense/special teams can't do it then you can't let the offense do it. If you don't then they need to get rid of the rule that keeps the defense/special teams from doing it too.
Once upon a time aiding the runner was a 10 yard penalty. In 1985 when the Chicago Bears had the Fridge and Walter Payton, they brought in the Fridge which made their goal line offense almost unstoppable. But in a game the Cowboys lost 44-0 they actually got a stop on the Bears. 8 Cowboys tackled Payton and the Fridge William Perry dragged Walter out of the pile almost to the end zone. Unfortunately the Bears were hit with the penalty and had to settle for the FG on that drive.
That was dragging, not pushing from behind. It is still illegal to pull or carry a runner in the NFL. Pushing from behind has been legal since 2005. They found it unenforceable because it was too hard to tell who is pushing who in many piles. If they make it illegal then alot of grey areas will happen.
@@jparent1970 I guess its just kind of like evolution of bent rules. Aiding any runner in any fashion was illegal until 2005. Also remember when QBs could not move as freely behind the line of scrimmage until Manning and Brady came along?

Yes, there’s actually a lot of history behind this rule. This was one of the main rules that were implemented to prevent football from being outlawed. In 1905, there were 19 football fatalities.
Totally different. That was players forming a battering ram and running down the field full speed into guys. This is a 1 yard push from a static line of scrimmage. No momentum. Orders of magnitude less dangerous.

It’s not the Tush Push, it’s the American Butt Lift!
Didn't they outlaw it in college football? I remember the Bush Push of Matt Leinart being a big deal because it was supposed to be a penalty.
I think people are losing sight of what is actually happening in the tush push. The offensive linemen are taking out the legs of the dline and the tush push is coming from above. The offense really has the advantage here because they snap the ball.
The only reason it is allowed because of the bad refs not doing their job and not calling the penalty in the first place.
It definitely gives the eagles a big advantage but it was illegal and only allowed because the refs were not calling the penalty and we already have a serious problem with bad refs and why because of their ineptitude it is now allowed why couldn't the refs do their job right in the first place
It's really rugby not football so it should not be allowed the only people that probably like it are eagles fans
I just hope they ban it immediately not wait till next year they decided this year to not ban it I don't know why I was hoping they would so as long as it is legal then the Eagles really have a big unfair advantage and they are taking advantage of this previously banned play.I always already hated before and never understood why it was allowed but it wasn't just the refs not doing their job. The refs are ridiculously bad and now they are just adding to their total Ineptitude and destroying the game of football maybe we the fans should demand that they enforce the rules and not just allow it because they don't want to do their jobs or are just too inept to do their jobs that is why we need a review of every penalty because of their inability to referee correctly.
Tush push is a great name! Tush Push needs to be here to say
fitting name for Philly fans...
Bring back the 400 pound defensive nose guard!
Sounds like teams need a good defensive coordinator to earn his pay and come up with a way to stop it
Lol but defense aren't allowed to push there own players too? Has nothing to do with coaching or planning
This is the same issue as the shift in baseball, just beat it don't ban it.
I bet a lot of people out there want a tush push
Dallas fan, if we can't stop it, they should keep doing it. They figured out something cool and only they have the skill to pull it off.
It’s called the Brotherly Shove 💚🦅
Get better.

You’re not good. Hurts is overrated as hell lol. Without that insane amazing d line and offensive line he’s nothing
@@mr.intamin1081 i never said he wasn’t being assisted by a kick ass O line… what i’m sayin is, be better than them if you don’t like the play.
The first time I ever saw it was the USC Trojans, with Matt Leinart & Reggie Bush.
People flipped out over the play back then, too. Saying: "That's illegal; they can't push like that! Illegal!"
Sounds like short yardage chop blocks from the o-line
I think the issue with the play is how much it exploits offense being so heavily favored over defense with current rules and officiating. This play is absurdly difficult to defend since the O has full control over snap. It's strong AF, but lame to watch/defend.
So if it's so difficult why doesn't every team do it? Just because one team is good at it doesn't make it unfair.
@@austinrivers5088 I didn't call the play unfair. I called it strong AF and difficult to defend. Cope.
@@austinrivers5088 I imagine other teams don't run the play because it's not in their playbook 👹
@@BigBoss69420Giant’s ran it, packers ran it you clearly don’t watch the games just highlights
@@nandog2597 why in the world would I watch either of those teams play? Are you implying that you watch every single game? Because that's BS
Football is dangerous, and its rough. But let's give the same leverage to the defensive side and really see how rough and dangerous it is. I remember The bengals putting 300 + pound Peko at fullback and launching him into the a and b gap on hb dive runs to gain goal line leverage and against the steelers back when they had arguably the best 3-4 goal line defense with massive lb flooding gaps.
to me its called the Bush push, USC vs Notre Dame 2005
The gooch scooch!
It’s not a tush push, it’s a brotherly shove
Everyone else can give it a try. Oh, that's right. They already did. They just don't have the POWER!
FLY EAGLES FLY!!!!
Bills do it all the time?
I never understood why they never just line bigger guys in the middle and push from DBs and linebackers
If the offense is allowed to push from behind then the defense should be allowed to also. Simple.
Defense is constantly being restricted.
I think they should go back to enforcing no player advancing a running back.
I find it interesting nobody was pushing for it to be banned when Tom brady was doing it all the time at a highly successful rate. But cause its Jalen Hurts now ppl want it banned, thats very interesting.
Don't be a racist, man. Watch the clips of Tom Brady doing a QB sneak versus the one the Eagles use. Brady is running a sneak by himself. Jalen is getting pushed forward by two additional people from behind. That's the difference.
@@loganleroy8622 What u talking about? Brady has been pushed multiple times in fact that's what they teach line men and RBs to push the QB on a QB sneak. It's not anything new, yall wanna act like race don't play role in the NFL when it does whether you like it or not.
@@Daffy_CI’m sure there’s tons of racism in a league that’s overwhelmingly black.
@@jessekillian2866 I didn't even bring race up, yall did. Tom Brady could be green idc, it's still interesting that when he did it everything was cheered but since it's Jalen hurts they want it banned...I think you need to stop tryna be racist sir.
@@loganleroy8622 I said nothing about race that's clearly you.
How is the long snapper any more defenseless than the center?
I think the Eagles should see if they can't modify it to get 3 yards and then run it every play of the game
They should save it for the superbowl also😂. Best worst superbowl ever
People only hate it because Eagles do it effectively. There's nothing bad about it. No players get hurt from it normally. I guess people are pointing to the fact it's hard to see the football placement and I'm sure Eagles haters don't like that. Well tough because this is nothing but physical football. This is 80s style over the new Igbtq styIe of football.
People hate it because it is contrary to rules used on pretty much any other play. The whistle does not get blown soon enough, such as when forward progress is originally stopped. In any other running play, when progress is stopped the whistle blows. This is to protect the players from getting repeatedly hit and piled on.
@@timclaus8313 There isn't a single example where the whistle blows late on any of the Eagles plays. They controversy is that you have 2 RBs adding extra push/pressure on the defensive lineman. There are no late whistles, the Eagles move the other team a full yard like it's nothing and the league is making the case it's an advantage that isn't fair. You don't ever see the Eagles get stopped and then they fall in later as you are suggesting. Other teams attempt it, but are no where near as effective. The Eagles are just so much better at the offensive line position and execution that it makes it look like they have an advantage over other teams. The fact is they do based on talent, not anything else. Good try though with your false whistle theory.
@@wutango36o I have actually seen the Eagles push get stopped, then another surge moves the pile. In a regular QB sneak, once the pile stops, the whistle blows. To an extent, I don't think the refs have a clear idea how to handle the tush push, and the Eagles are taking an advantage of a loophole in the rules, so good on them. It is up to the rules committee to close the loophole, not the eagles to not use it.
@@timclaus8313There has been zero mention of whistles being blown or given extra time. No part of the controversy has that ever been the reason. It's the "pushing" by the RBs. Which I'm not opposed to them banning, but the QB sneak executed by the Eagles is light years beyond any other team. They'll just complain about the QB sneak in general after the pushing is banned, because 1 team is on another level better than anyone else doing it. Other teams just need to execute better when running it, and execute better when defending it.
@@wutango36o Like I said, it is a loophole in the rules the Eagles have perfected. Don't like it, but I also don't like a lot of the rule imposed to hinder the defense. It is what it is.
Actually, the rules do state that you cannot push on the back of the runner to try to help them move forward. You can push the pile but you’re not supposed to push the runner themselves, so in other words, the Eagles have been doing an illegal push many times, but for some reason they don’t call it
Incorrect. Not being a dick, just letting you know. The rule changed around 2005. On offense it’s legal to push a runner from behind, you just can’t “pull” a runner to advance them. Can do a quick google search if you don’t believe me.
I mean to play devils advocate, as soon as the ball is snapped it turns into a pile so the running back pushing the qb is technically pushing the pile
Offensive players cannot pull a player, they can push all day long. You see it when RBs are stopped downfield and lineman come flying up to shove the pile. Go back and check the rules, you are completely wrong.
if others could do it anywhere as well as the eagles then maybe, but it's just one good team
Why doesn't anyone mentioned the direction the two ofdensive linebackers move and the fact that they are pretty much siamese twins with how close they stay to each other. They move in tandem diagonally and yet the dline is always moving foward as usual and all you get is one dline overwhelmed whilst the another hits the side of one of the oline guys which make them more compact and more effective in driving forward and diagonally.
To be honest even if a defense does meet the offense in the right orientation and stay tight, it would be quite easy to utilise trick plays.
How about try to keep the eagles out of short yardage
D linemen get penalized for hitting O linemen low. This play only works if the O linemen knock the feet out from under the D lineman. Very lopsided protection under the rules. As with most rules, such as pass interference, the rules favor the offense doing the exact same thing defenders draw flags for.
I recall everyone doing sneaks more often and then a handful of teams doing it. Nobody said anything until the eagles made it their trademark.
What about using another player to get pushed up in the air to block a kick? That is illegal, too. That isn't different.
