    Did you find it dried out?

      you can let these cords set all winter and clean them up in the spring, they will be dry. I just kept mine inside a few months and they dried fine.

    I come here to look at how others do their own to remember how my people did theirs, and to be inspired. I get dreams of have a gourd rattle. I am conflicted, whether to buy a ready-made dried gourd rattle and paint the symbols of my people, or if I grow my own gourd and go through the process of creating my own rattle. Or if I were to simply buy a dry gourd (because I can't grow one right now) and go through part of the process.

      That is a gourd, which is related to the pumpkins and squash. it has minimal pulp and a hard outer shell.Just make sure the pulp is completely dried out when making the rattle.
