What kind of seeds would I use to grow the gourds
You can buy the chords. If you can't find them growing
What else could I use for the top part of the rattle?
feathers would be nice
Did you find it dried out?
you can let these cords set all winter and clean them up in the spring, they will be dry. I just kept mine inside a few months and they dried fine.
Thank you for sharing culture.
I come here to look at how others do their own to remember how my people did theirs, and to be inspired. I get dreams of have a gourd rattle. I am conflicted, whether to buy a ready-made dried gourd rattle and paint the symbols of my people, or if I grow my own gourd and go through the process of creating my own rattle. Or if I were to simply buy a dry gourd (because I can't grow one right now) and go through part of the process.
thank you for sharing.
Hippie style 😎
What tribe are you buddy
0:15 what's it called?
That is a gourd, which is related to the pumpkins and squash. it has minimal pulp and a hard outer shell.Just make sure the pulp is completely dried out when making the rattle.
Using the old ways it must have taken weeks to make these, not counting the drying time.
I think I may have recently communed with some distant cousin.
Thanks for the
Too much work
