    That black coloured pencil tip is gold! I'm literally working on a drawing right now that requires a lot of darkness in the background and I was just gonna use my 8B because I hate charcoal, it's too messy, or I'm too careless with it. But I'm gonna get a black coloured pencil and see how that works. Thanks, Kirsty!

    • @pebblesthecat3625
      @pebblesthecat3625 Před rokem +3

      I read your comments on using black pencils, and may I suggest you also try a particularly amazing pencil from Derwent - the "Onyx". It is quite honestly the blackest pencil I have ever used and it's not charcoal.
      They come individually for between £2.75p to £3.25p, or for a blister pack of 2, it's between £5.50p upto £6.25, depending where you buy it from, so shop around. It creates really intense, dark colour, lays down so smoothly and easily, and can sharpen to a really decent point if needed. I use it mainly for monochrome drawings of animals, as it is perfect for drawing hair and fur especially. I hope you don't mind me suggesting you try this.

    If anyone in the comments have any advice, I`d be very thankful☺️

    • @glurp1
      @glurp1 Před 2 lety +2

      Reflective surfaces have high contrast. I would find images that have the effect you're looking for and note the value differences. Note the level of contrast overall, in the areas by the reflection, the size of the areas, etc. You could even turn images to grayscale to focus just on the value, though such conversions aren't perfect.

    • @kitty_von_meow6505
      @kitty_von_meow6505 Před 2 lety +3

      So this may not be the type of shine you are meaning, but lets say its a bright red 🚗… for the shiny areas i would go to lightest red (pink)there is, so depending on the red pencil, the pink you use is important… i have a giant cup of reds from every brand and every version of red including the pinks that match tone wise… theres a pink white out from caran de ache its helpful with reds…also when you are doing shiny or highlight sections try burnishing or blending some areas with a white pencil and or colorless blender to practice effects… and another one you take a photo with your phone of your drawing then go to effects, push grey scale, this helps see the areas you need to work on more…hope this helps… oh forgot one…when im super lazy i just use my highlight pens, they are in most art supply stores, you can buy different shades to, but this is more of a finishing affect even after completing your pencil work for pop….

    Thank you Kirsty. That was the finest collection of absolutely exceptional and essential tips for drawing with pencil that I’ve seen in my 61 years. There were points in your presentation that I was already aware of as a watercolour and oil artist fumbling along for many a year now, but I learned so many vital and important tips that are going to revolutionise and massively and positively impact my art that I am quite pleasantly astounded. Just as important as listening to the your lovely and soothing voice and the important information that you conveyed, watching your hands as they moved across the paper, how you so deftly jut touched and caressed the graphite away when doing the light strands, and laying in the darker tones with the coloured pencil, wow, again, I learned so much about the actual technique by just watching your hands work so easily and so brilliantly. I’ll leave it there for you but really wanted to say thank you and share my hope for your best as you’ve inspired and taught me an incredible amount this morning as I had my breakfast here in Sydney, brilliant girl, thank you so much 😎👍
