      I've got an 8. I interchanged 1 and 9. It sounds good for me but I'd like to know if that is correct. Of course, I had to add 'it' after "into" to make it sense.

    Hello, Jennifer. I really like your series of phrasal verbs.
    Here are a few examples of how "hone in on" can be used in sentences:
    The detective was able to hone in on the suspect's location by tracing their phone signal.
    After weeks of research, the scientists were finally able to hone in on the cause of the mysterious illness.
    In order to succeed, you need to hone in on your strengths and work to improve your weaknesses.
    The coach told the team to hone in on their opponent's weaknesses and use them to their advantage.

    Hi Jennifer, I suffered from burn out in 2020, in the beginning of the pandemic I felt that outloook was bleak. I had to step it out a notch and worked out. All of a sudden, we had meetings even 10 in the evening to bring up any topic so I had to talk my boss into scheduling meeting earlier. BTW before the time I prepared presentations honed in on improvements. One day, It was 11 in the evening but I didnt want to call a taxi company because I had sticked around yet : The next day, ( I remember wearing a pair of shoes that they were worn out :) I had to buy them, when I went the mall and the seller try to rip me off, I did not pay !! outrageous price!!! Thanks for the help ! Score: 8/10

    Hi JForrest
    First of all thank you for the awesome video and explanation of the 10 useful phrasal verbs. Second I noticed that you said some people mistake saying "home in on sth" for "hone in on sth". I looked up both phrases in Oxford dictionary and DioDic English Dictionary for Advanced Learners, and both phrases are listed in them. So they are both in common use in the English language. In fact the phrase "home in on sth" is prominent in British English, whereas "hone in on sth" is popular in American and Canadian English.

    • @JForrestEnglish
      @JForrestEnglish  Před 2 lety +2

      If you specify the noun "production" you don't add "it" because "it" REPLACES the noun. Ex/ We need to step up our production. (noun is specified). Ex/ Our production is lagging. We need to step IT up (it replaces the previously mentioned noun, production). Hope that helps!
