Hi Jennifer! Thank you for another wonderful lesson! I got 9/10. I made a mistake in question number 2. I wrote "kids acting up", correct answer was "kids barging in". Anyway, here are some examples: 1) He is really good at dancing and sometimes he likes to show off. 2) The store clerk was about to take a break, when disgruntled customer barged in. 3) They got on really well till inheritance dispute came between them. 4) She had some setbacks last year, but she bounced back really fast. 5) He has been a bundle of nerves ever since his back has been acting up again. 6) He is so pigheaded, but at long last I was able to get my message across. 7) She is reliable. You can count on her. 8) We made a huge mistake. We have to make it up to our client. 9) I came around to her plan when I realized how good it was. 10) I don't put up with cruel and high-and-mighty people.
Thank you so much for your clear explanation and for all the examples. This time I have found all the correct words (or verbal forms, to be more precise). However, I have to admit that I had listened to your explanation twice before solving the quiz. Personally, I think it’s better to repeat the same lesson several times before trying to pass any kind of test, such as this quiz, which basically is a vocabulary test. Anyway, thanks again for your great lessons, especially those with the quizzes at the end! They are very helpful! Kind regards, Anna
Language.. that the English language, and the english language from pronunciation, to dialect, to learning the sound of a letter.. and this topic is wonderful, topic this time, thank you very much.
Hi Jennifer again, morning! well it is a challenge in a job interview to get across that you fit in a position and it is important to show off your skills even you can express as you want. An anecdote occured when someone barged in the office (It was bad for flowing the meeting) BTW then you come around to it when you listen perks of the company. I now it is very polity to say "I count on me" when you offer aid to someone. Leo and I were friends for a few months the we came between us. I can put off with students, some of them act up. I cought SARS- virus before vaccine spread, fortunately, I bounced back. The last week i forget a birthday´s cousin, I promise to make it up to her . Thanks again Jennifer for cheering up throughout learning process
I got 10 ✅ Yes when I was a student a worker during Christmas season in a shoes store and Jesus the manager was really hard to put up with , sometimes I got the feeling he enjoyed look down on everyone . Jen I saw the highlights on a NHL playoff game between two Canadian teams ( Edmonton oilers and Calgary flames ) wow you Canadians are all about Hockey , the stand was crazy Greetings and hugs from Mexico queen Jen.
If to show off it's correct for number 1 question I will say 10 out 10. I have heard all those phrasal verbs before of curse you just clarify them for me. Amazing clear way to teach!
Thanks for this interesting lesson about phrasal verbs . Honestly , your explanation is crystal clear. I think I will count on your lessons to improve my English. Thank very much indeed.
This is a great video, thanks! I love this playlist about phrasal verbs! Thank you so much for teaching us phrasal verbs, this is soooo useful and in France we don't learn them so much... However, I keep struggling with phrasal verbs because there are often several ways of saying things in english with little nuance, and I don't always see them, like: come around to/change one's mind, get across/get through to, count on/rely on, act up/play up, make it up/make amends (not always phrasal verbs but very close)
Hello, Jennifer. The word "around" is used not only as a preposition but also as an adverb. Are you sure that the "around" in "come around to ..." is a preposition?
Hello JForrest! Please check my grammar! I came around to visiting your city after you covinced me about its beautiful architecture. I think I couldn't get across my point in the meeting. Had he showed off his English speaking skills at the interview, he would have been selected. I believe we are lucky to have got you as our teacher. We can always rely on you when it comes to mastering complex grammar structures. It was disturbing to learn that X had come between A and B It's time to tell our neighbours that we can't put up with their late night noise. After a crippling illness, it's great to see you bouncing back. He has been acting up lately. I wonder what is going on in his mind. Sorry I might not come to your wedding, but I promise I will make it up to you. We were having a meeting when this strange looking man barged in.
1. I suggest students can always count on Jennifer to become fluent in English. 2. Anybody can confidently showoff by following jforrest. 3. Patience makes people bounce back from crisis situation I believe. 4. We should make it up to the clients by finishing the project 1week ahead to showoff our ability, it will make clients to count on us in future.
Esto no está hecho para latinos, muy interesantes frasales, pero para los que queremos entender estos verbos sería maravilloso que tengan la traducción al español. Estos frasales son el dolor de cabeza o la piedra en el zapato para hispanohablantes, que empezamos a aprender.
Hi dear lovely our teacher and all your students, 1,he found a nice lovely friend , but some one came between them and destroyed their dream, 2, we don't know how to put up with this hard life, 3, one day I was in my room sleeping and some small animal just barged in and shouted it scared 😨😨😨 me alot.i wish you all the best 🙂🌹
Is this correct?: "After his speech, he asked us if the subject was understood clearly so that way he wouldn't have to ask about to get across the message again." Thanks in advance!
Dear Jennifer , I am really confused on talking about the other people activitie or idea. For example " I want him to visit Paris" or " I want he to visit Paris". Can you make a video about this topic. May be sometime it depend on verb. I am really confused with this topic. Take care. be happy :)
Hi Jennifer, how's it going ?. hey Jennifer, with all respect but I think there's a little mistake in the screen, because it's written "distRUb" and I think that the correct way is "disTURb" that's to say "to DISTURB a relationship", sorry but I noticed it and I've seen that word before, thanks for the video lesson Jennifer, it was really useful.
Mam I have a doubt...in the last phrase u gave the example that a kid unexpectedly came and gave the CV....but kid means small boy right? And u told he got that job too😁How can be it happen?
You're right! But we also use "kid" to refer to someone who's (a lot) younger. To someone who's 50 years old, 'a kid' could be someone who's 20 years old. Or even 30!
He's mixed up with. We know you got mixed up with some gangsters. Your uncle has gotten mixed up with some pretty bad people. Don't get mixed up with people like that. Didn't want to get mixed up in the family business. What does this mean please (mix up)
🥰 Hi everyone - Put your SCORE in the comments and try some example sentences 🥳
Can you explain the use of such conjunctions as “as for, as of, lest, inasmuch as”? Thank youuu!

Hello, Jennifer. The word "around" is used not only as a preposition but also as an adverb. Are you sure that the "around" in "come around to ..." is a preposition?
Do not do unto others what you do not want that others will do it unto you. For It will bounce back to you...
👌
