- Standalone screen or integrated? Every high end wheel buyer has asked themselves this question at some point. And while a wheel with a built in screen looks a lot more impressive, it isn't ideal for a GT seating position like most of us are using. This is my choice... And I don't just mean a separate wheel and dash... I mean... The Grid MPX and DDU5 are my end game. I'll be VERY surprised if I ever use a better combo.

There's no doubt that MPX is a very premium wheel that definitely looks the part. Unfortunately the higher the products go in price the more little mistakes start standing out. 7-way funky switch placement looks to be an oversight. A wireless option for wheels in that price category should be the standard imo.
You can drive around it. I generally don't assign the 7 way hats to anything too damaging but you wouldn't accidentally want to uncheck your fast repair :p

I ordered the Grid MPX before release. It is truly fantastic. The support from Grid is beyond anything I've ever experienced. I'll admit I haven't stickered mine yet cause it stresses me out. I need to address that.

Got mine at the pre order price and love it, I haven’t had the courage to put the stickers on yet, I use a clear shower cap to keep the dust off it, pick them up from hotel free bees!

The t818 needed a replacement wheelbase and got delayed. It needs to be revisited. As for the leoxz, I haven’t reviewed that one yet unfortunately :)

Nice review! Amazing products, very well made. I have the wheel on my wishlist, but budget will probably never allow this.
For the display: i found the Sim Racing Addict DDU5 display and that has all the same features, but with a magnet mount, touch screen and the USB connection is better (imo) too. And they have a larger screen too (6.8inch) if you would want to go bigger.
I tried this one and the GSI X29 at the expo and was blown away at the price difference. Yes it comes with the clutches already and has some thumb encoders but most people never use that many buttons anyway. It’s a really popular wheel for esports dudes though, I just personally never use even half of the buttons on my wheel
One of the nice things about lots of buttons is that they’re there when you need them. Requirements are very different from car to car. But a well set up wheel can handle everything from volumes to quick settings to even controlling apps you have running.
I haven’t had the privilege of using the x29 yet unfortunately :)
I bought the mpx wheel a few months back, and I absolutely love it. It handles all my pavement racing. The feature I like best is the indicator lights telling you which side another car is on. I don't always hear that guy tell me if the car is on my right or left and it's really helpful for someone without triple screens ....yet. The only other wheel I know that does this is the VPG stealth. Witch I was considering, but at the time, the vpg stealth was almost $1500(it's now like $1100😢) The grid wheel was $400 cheaper, which made it a very easy decision
@@bearsjunky23hof88 what exactly do your lights do? You can program every wheel that has LEDs to flash certain buttons to achieve what you are describing. Whenever someone is on my right, the X-29 flashes all lights on the right side in bright yellow, so I immediately see there's someone
@drchtct First off, my bad. I meant to put that in the regular comments. If the x29 does that light thing, that's amazing. The x29 wasn't out yet when I got the mpx. It's kind of hard to explain, but I can program any light to different effects. For instance, is the car on my right or left? I can have the lights flash or I can have them just change into a different solid color. One guy in the forms got his lights to indicate the distance the car was at. So if the car was on your right side but on the other side of the track it would only light one light the right side but if the car was up against your door all four lights would light up.( I haven't figured that out personally yet though) And I don't remember how, but I somehow manage to get the middle lights for the turnobs to flash the color of the flags whenever they come out in iracing. I couldn't get it to flash the checkered flag properly, so instead of it flashing black & and white, for instance, I got it flashing dark purple and white. Obviously, when it flashed black & and white, It was really just flashing white. It also does pit limiter lights. I haven't changed them from the blue and red it originally had. But yeah, basically, you can have the lights do I think up to 3 different functions each. And the number of colors available is kind of amazing. My lain li Razor edition computer case also gives me flag lights too. I don't know how I accomplished that it just started doing it one day. As Lawrence would say, the X29 sounds like an amazing piece of kit. And it is probably the better buy. I haven't messed with it yet. But even still, I love this wheel. I don't regret paying what I did for it at the time. I wanted one wheel that could handle all my pavement races and I'm not planning on getting another wheel( famous last words I know). So, I wanted a high-class wheel without a screen that could handle everything. The mpx fit that bill perfectly

It’s super high end and not for everyone for sure. But the fact that this exists is great for sim racing.

Just let those who can spend more enjoy their things too. They don’t go on to reviews of more affordable products telling people to get more disposable income either.
