- This stew is rich in flavour and is the perfect comfort food, warming and perfect for any winter day. La Rioja, where the famous Spanish wine comes from, is an incredibly fertile area where some of the best fruit and vegetables in the Iberian Peninsula are grown (and that is a big statement).
Serves 5
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 40 minutes
100 ml olive oil £0.235 garlic cloves, thinly sliced £0.152 onions, finely chopped £0.282 red peppers, seeded and finely chopped £0.751 tin of chopped tomatoes £0.28200 g semi-cured chorizo, cut into 2-cm slices £1.39
½ tablespoon sweet paprika £0.07
1.2 kg potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks £0.50
2 tablespoons vinegar £0.04
2 sprigs of fresh rosemary, leaves picked £0.25
2 bay leaves £0.05
salt and freshly ground black pepper £0.01
TOTAL: £4.00

Omar, I've been making this recipe for a long time now, ever since you first did a video of this dish a long time ago. It's definitely one of our favourite stews and it has more flavour then you would think with having quite basic ingredients. Love the idea of family meals on a budget, can't wait to see what meal is next.

Some years ago I had a lentil and morcilla stew in Burgos on a bussines trip, which was awesome. Could you inform people outside of Spain about the amazing sausage / black pudding that is morcilla 😁?
Paprikás krumpli: isimilar recipe to what we know in Hungarian cuisine. Lovely cheap and tasty recipe, try it!
I make this regularly, I always add white butterbeans to mine and a splash of Soberano at the beginning of the process when the vinegar goes in. Fabulous.

I made this the other day and wow it's lovely. I added some chicken breast to it tho and it worked well with the chorizo.
Made this recipie (added a few more whole spices (cumin and cardomon thinks like that) for subtle hints but, it's become my mother's and my favourite meal

I can almost smell it, will absolutely try it. However, fresh peppers are ridiculously expensive where I live this time of year. I found grilled peppers in jar that might work. Are those used in Spanish cooking at all, Omar?
The bell peppers are probably there for texture but more or less it’s actually kind of uncommon to have bell peppers in this dish. I’d recommend looking up patatas al Riojana
