The intros are becoming legendary!
Sooner or later they will bring in Chris Buck........ ;-)
I can easily imagine a purple one with vintage white pickguard murphy lad Danish Pete Signature. OMG đČThanks you both đ€
Not worth the money
The Captain really sang with the SG! Pete is flying as always! Wowsers!
What I find kind of crazy is when the finish cracked on my old Les Paul after it rode under the bus in the winter, I was very disappointed that my guitar didn't look new anymore, and for years, every time I'd look at the guitar, I'd regret not insisting on keeping the guitar with me in the cabin on that bus ride. Now people pay thousands extra for that.
I don't understand it either. You also achieve the same effect by buying it new and then playing it for 20yrs - surely the 'owning and playing' option is best.
@@terminusest9083 Or put your guitar outside in -35 degree weather :-)
@Terminus Est Problem with that argument ("just play it for 20 years and relic it yourself") is that it often takes quite a bit longer than 20 years for a guitar to age andlook lightly relic'ed. Some people (those aged in their 50s and 60s) don't have 20 years to relic it themselves cos they'll either be dead or too old to play and enjoy their relic'ed guitar.
@@MajorDook1unfortunately all too true! I started playing at 52 and Iâm psyched to get these played in looking and feeling instrumentsâŠthey do indeed feel different to me anywayâŠ
Just received that red SG. Thanks to Paul in the Gallery room for helping me to choose the right one and advising and arranging everything.
Great jamming Lee. I enjoy watching these videos
Hahaha, thanks for the shoutout Pete, you legend! Brilliant jams guys, loving it! I'll be stealing those licks.
I'll never be able to afford these, yet I'm always watching these videos lol
Iâve ordered a lefty M2M 64â Heavy Aged SG in Pelham Blue⊠absolutely one of my dream guitars đđ
Hoping they do an SG Special version as well. Sounds amazing, great demo! Mahalo! đ€đŹđ§
nice bit of Steppenwolf and Bryan Adams vibes from the intro jam there
great classic rock vibes in this video! sounds way more classic rock than the sound like for the ultimate classic rock rig if i do say so myself
I used to be a Les Paul fanboy but ever since I bought an SG theyâre all I think about. These Murphy Lab guitars are my ârelativelyâ affordable dream guitars
Its really amazing and inspiring to watch Lees journey as a musician.
Absolutely indeed!
Sounded so good with the tremolo and delay and a bit of drive
Superb review and incredible playing guys đ„âïžđ„âïžđ„âïžđ„âïž
This is just great in every aspect!
Awesome jam session !
The 416 "Wow Lee's playing is so improved!!" comments on EVERY video have basically become a meme at this point lmao
May be a meme but it's true! A hero to bedroom bluesmen everywhere
Really good stuff. What would we do without your videos? And the 335s are still to come.
Great playing, both!
I wouldn't mind a Black Beauty Murphy Lab honestly. But I have to say, the white version of it has a killer look. The vibrato is a bit of a pain to set up, and may cause tuning issues, but as far as it goes, it makes any SG gorgeous to me.
TOTAL AWSOME GUYS THEM SGS SCREEMED BLOODY MAGIC.
Love you guys!!!
14:49 âI could play with this all dayâ
*implied thatâs what she said look*
Epic intro, boys!
after watching your vidio ... I special ordered Palham Blue SG .... it's just awesome ! thanks for your review!
Great vid. Great guitar. Cheers from mtw in L.A.
I wish SGs came in more colors. Love mine!
Danish Pete is killing it on that intro!
Great Intro Cap!
Damn that dark Cherry and the period appointments are just killer. I love my standard USA model and could never justify buying one of those but... just gorgeous guitars.
i got a red one a few weeks back. Best electric guitar i've ever had. They got some magic in this run of guitars. I bought a non Murphy 64 earlier last year and for some reason it didn't have the same resonance and vibe. I wound up swapping it for a les paul. I would never have bought a heavy relic - just because i'm not into that but when i picked this thing up , it has the same vintage vibe as my brother's actual 67 special, if not better. I'm normally not into reclicing for it's own sake but in this case it's like perfectly worn in pair of jeans instead of pair of stiff levis off the rack. Its it worth 4,000 bucks more.. i don't know but i know this one is a keeper for me and i'm pretty picky. I guess it's as close as i'll ever get to owning a vintage SG.
Oh Shiiiiiiiiiii! They look and sound unbelievable. That Pelham Blue...Iâd like to do that đ
Language Mr Duxbury, language đ€Ł
I think this is the best opening jam yet.
They forgot the headstock breaks on the heavy ones đ
Nice Video guys!
The captain playing rock on an sg was amazing!!!
Nice opening jam!
Just got a 64 SG VOS - Can't wait for Pete's ultimate I finally got an SG video!
With regard to the Maestro Vibrato arm... got a brand new standard 61 maestro in January and the vibrato arm was VERY stiff. By March it wouldn't stay put on its own, I had to tighten it. I would just use it a little each time you pick it up. It will loosen on its own.
I have a 2019 (non-Murphy-Lab) '64 reissue and it is the best SG I have ever owned (and I have owned lots of them since the '80s). It can easily hang with any vintage '60s SG I have owned/played.
I've said this many times before bc it's true. This is what a standard tuned 6 string electric guitar should sound like. Midrange punch where the frequencies should be!
Totally awesome đ
Nice guitars no doubt, but I'll stick to my plain ol Gibson SG Standard and Les Paul Standard. Murphy can keep em and I'll keep $ in my wallet đ
Are you guys gonna make a video on Marty Friedmanâs new purple mirror signature guitar guys? Would LOVE to see that no-one seems to be talking about it!
Now thatâs a Murphy Guitar I might buy.
Iâve never wanted an sg more in my life
Dammit Gibson have Pelham Blue as a standard SG colour!
Hi captain & Pete - any plan of reviewing Murphy lab ultra light aged 1964 ES335 (in redđ)? Thanks
Video coming soonđđ»
I canât wait to see the 335âs.
Me too!
Damn Pete was on fire đ„
The Captain is killing it.
The Party Is At Andertons đđđ¶đ¶đžYou Guys Rockem.
What overdrive pedal does Pete use here? Sounds great!
It looks like Pete is having some influence on Leeâs playing.
Do these have that early SG thing of the neck being like a whammy bar when you pull forwards or backwards on it? I've been hoping Gibson would come out with a 1967 SG so I could order a M2M version with a chunky neck that wont do the whammy thing because of the late 60's neck join on SGs.
They sound really nice. I probably wouldnât buy a relicâd version. Saves on the cost and I end up relic-ing it myself anyway. LOL. Look forward to Peteâs pleked les Paulâs when that video comes out
Laughing at the screen with all the Murphy LABS references. Thereâs only one guys albeit there are approximately 5 luthiers plus Tom himself operating the workshop, and itâs called Murphy LAB. No âSâ. That aside your videos, banter and tunes in this video series are great fun. Cheers đ
At the start of that video I was wearing socks and had never been fussed about a Gibson SG. Within the first 30 seconds my socks had been blown off by the awesome playing and then I wanted an SG. Weird.
pete you need to go back on the road i would to love to see the danish pete experience
Are there any new amplifiers to test or is it just guitars and pedals
Wow Lee's playing has gotten better
Iâve just got a lefty 64 SG in gloss .. the total opposite of aged. â€
love the way it looks/ not how it sounds -> guess im a fender guy :) jag/jazz best trem ever 4me. thumb up
Question: which band would Pete love to play for/which band *needs* Pete the most?
oh yeah.... SG's are simply the best rock guitars in existence... love my Strat but really love my SG's
I have the red '64 SG, but as VOS and not as Murphy Lab. It's great.
that sg in purple instead of blue and Pete would buy it i thinkđ
Legit thought Lee had an ankle monitor on at first glance. (Nice socks, btw.)
Lee needs to buy himself the sg off the intro, out doing Pete there đđ
17:09 that was great - "and many moooooorrrrrrrre"
Really nice. The best body shape is the sg.
Especially with the neckdive and all đ€
@@bread5617 the tremolo would make the neckdive disapear right?
@@adrianhellstrom2927 oh I don't know. It might with these models but my Gibson sg modern has the worst neckdive ever. All because they refuse to place the strap button at the horn
@@bread5617 I know you shouldn't HAVE to do it on a guitsr that costs that much, but installing a strap button is a cheep fix at anyone who works on guitars, or pretty easy by yourself.
Neck sticks out way to far to the left otherwise, it is a great guitar but uncomfortable re the neck. Same with firebird.
SG â€!
These look and sound killer! Too pricey for me, but they definitely have swagger to them.
They Should make an SG in blue turquoise and have the batwing pickguard with the vibrola unit and 24 frets with blue-ish white block inlays
They should also make an SG in cherry red and have the batwing pickguard with a Floyd rose bridge and 27 frets with red trapezoid inlays
pete is a real legend
firebird and 335 next !!
How are the Maestro vibratos? I like vibratos on guitars, but they all feel different and of course, there is also the issue of trying to keep the guitar in tune, but I've never tried a Maestro. I put a Les Trem on my old Les Paul and it works flawlessly, but then I put one on a more modern 335 and the guitar refused to stay in tune, possibly because of the nut, either poorly cut or perhaps it's the material - Coria. So, it's obviously a concern when buying a guitar with a trem system.
Theyâre quite stiff, but alright for a slight vibrato effect. Theyâre nowhere near as smooth as the Duesenberg Deluxe, which is by far the best and most stable trem system I have played. The maestro vibrola does affect the general sound of the SG (very audible when playing unplugged) in a good way and mine stays in tune just fine. Of course a bit of nut sauce helps a great deal.
@@dimitrilaenen2074 Thanks, that's helpful.
Costs more than what my ACTUAL â64 SG junior cost.
one of these in gold would be prime
I never would have thought about that. Iâd love to see what the guitar would look like with ultra light and heavy aging
@@nathanielvargas3863 another shop had one in gold without the giant vibrola silver thing. 2 humbuckers. Flew out the door and it was a custom shop so it was a lot. $5 grand. Another utuber played it and I think thatâs why it went the next day.
@@kcussrebutuemos4815 was it a Murphy Lab? Do you remember the CZcamsr? Iâve seen some gold SGâs and they looked killer. I would love to see a gold one aged like this
@@nathanielvargas3863 since i commented i found a video of Rhett Shull playing one. A video about finding your perfect guitar. I want a gold one even more now
The P90 SG Special.... đđđ„°
Yep... the secret Gem of the SG line
Angus would be proud.
Whatâs this backing track!?
Compreeeessioon...... by Givenchyyyy
10:04 You`ve got a Junior, Picture is of a Special.
Thatâs what he meant to say when he said âjunior with 2 P90sâ đ add neckbinding and you have a Special.
Cheese n Onion ! These sound utterly incredible
Where do you get the backing tracks for these videos? Iâve really liked all of the tracks (and jams) for all of the Murphy labs videos.
The âtracksâ are made on the Boss RC10 looper and the guys come up with them on the day.
@@andertons thank you!
I so want to come visit the shop one day.. i don't really play guitar.. but it will be like visiting a museum
*cries on epiphone sg special ve*
Peteâs face says everything this vid is trying to convey
The red one looks like a 2014 SG Original ii.
Captain, you're on my nerves! You need an SG, every time you play one it sounds choice but uou continue avoiding owning one! The SG is your best guitar voice, in my opinion!đâ„ïžđ
EPIPHONE!!! We need a Pelham Blue (not faded, actual PB like in this video) Epi version, maestro-equipped SG Standard....please please please! THAT would be "sexual chocolateness" for many of us!
I have been a bit skeptical of this Gibson vibrato. I think the seeds of this came from rumours of instability years ago. Anyone with have experience of this. I am into using something it an a subtle way.
My Murphy lab is a used 2004 SG special with about a spec of nitro left on it. Plus is came with a headstock repair. Iâll definitely trade for one of those! These might be pricey, but come on man look at those sweet instruments. My SG is good, but ML SG is better than a vintage one in my mind. Vintage are real expensive.
Out of all the Gibsonâs Iâve had or tried itâs the only headstock repair Iâve come across. And it always stays in tune.
Want that triple hum and the dual P90. Oy. Murphy labs Firebird ... no triple pickup yet ? My wallet just shrieked and fainted .... LOL
Careful guys, Frank Zappa's corpse might come back to life if he hears this SG
The pickups sound nice but I would have to swap them if they squealed that much.
Am I a stupid or have they actually not released the 335 video?
It is not junior it's special!
Funny thing the SG init. Literally two of the most influential guitarists EVER play it, pretty much exclusively, but it's always seen as the Les Paul's ugly second cousin. When you listen to a good SG you get that "bright" Les Paul sound from one. The sound that all the people who have been lucky enough to play an actual 50's Les Paul tell you is "the sound".
Anyway, love the Phelam blue, can't afford it....
Gotta loosen that tractor part
