It’s got to be set before A New Hope because according to the Darth Vader comic series from 2015, which is set between episodes 4 and 5, Vader learns where Obi-Wan was hiding and visits Obi-Wan’s hut after Boba Fett had tracked Luke there. Before leaving, Vader orders the hut destroyed.
I actually saw a fake spoiler that Boba killed the whole band after their first song for Jabba, so I was on edge the whole time and pleasantly surprised when they succeeded
Nice
That's kinda funny
I think I would have preferred that
@@chroniccosmonaut5599 for reals. This episode was my least favorite
Seeing Boba jamming to the song, near the end of the episode, is just gold to me, one of the cutest things i've seen
I really love the "runaway Padawan joins rock band" concept, and the art style for this one was super cute.
Jabba was full on vibing to the music, this made me chuckle
Hohoho...this is a fucking bop
Boba Fett vibing at the end was even more precious.
Two great parts of this episode:
1. Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett
2. Weequay doing a Wilhelm Scream
The jedi is voiced by Present Mic from MHA in the Japanese version, which is fitting I think.
the singing in the japanese version was really good so I guess that's why
I knew I knew that voice
This episode would make a great kids series
Definitely.
I've seen a lot of folks consider this to be one of the weaker of the shorts, but honestly it stands out to me in a good way- helped by the fact that it's the one short I can think of in this batch that didn't hinge on any sort of saber-to-saber action.
Studio Colorido, who did this episode, also worked on most of the Twilight Wings shorts for Pokemon. They also did A Whisker Away, a recent film that I found really fun and would totally recommend for anyone who enjoyed the vibes of ghibli's movies.
ye same, i really enjoyed this ep becasue it was fun.
It's something we genuinely need more of in the Star Wars universe, more slice of life stuff, an actual, canon show like this will bring with it whole new plot points
Yeah, i love how the jedi found a non-violent way to resolve a problem, i was missing it
@@davicastanho6009 I don't think we can no longer call him a Jedi, but that's okay, Jay showed violence is not the only way. Bands aren't a new concept in the universe at all, so like, why shouldn't we have a show that follows one, from planet to planet. Imagine all the unique, different plot points
@@eighthlegofthephantomtroup1842 Yes, i would love a mini series of the band, tbh every episode deserve a mini-series to me, except the one with the droid jedi, it didn’t really catch me
Boba Fett, a rock band with a Jedi lead singer who turned his lightsaber into a mic, AND a song that sound like all of the best alt rock bands I grew up on from the late 90’s and early 00’s!!!!!!
TOO MOCH AWESOMENESS!!!😭😭😭😭😭😭👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽💥💥💥💥🔥🔥🔥🔥
If Lucasfilm and Disney are smart they better not just officially release this song, but an entire album of both the English and Japanese dubs!
I kinda like this episode...it's wholesome. Kinda nice and refreshing that we get something else other than all the Jedi, Sith or Mando actions and stuffs.
I consider a nice break from the norm. Sort of delving into the more peaceful and civil side of the galaxy behind all the war and conflict between the Jedi, Sith, Mandalorians ETC.
I loved this one. I love the idea of a punk teenage Hutt joining a rock band instead of going into "the family business". This series is so cool because you can just go all in on so many creative concepts that would have to be explained or justified if it was 'cannon'. Can't wait to see your thoughts on all the rest!
Thats what I don't get. Everyones like "Its not canon!!" But like, it could be. Just because its not part of the main story doesn't mean it couldn't have happened. Think of all the individual stories that could be told at the same time just on Earth. And this is set in a freaking GALAXY. Yes some of them, like the Twins is probably more non-canon fun. But for a lot of them, theres nothing saying they couldn't have happened.
"Marc Thompson sounds pretty familiar too..." I mean, he only narrated half of all canon Star Wars novels. 🤣 He's amazing!
I loved how you all just broke out in Jedi rock at the end. Great reaction
my favorite visions episode 🤘. it was incredibly wholesome, it had the initial ties to the star wars lore "padawan escapes order 66". but the rest of the story was super creative and original 😁
Temurra Morrisson's voice can make Boba Fett sound like an absolute badass that you don't want to mess with no matter how he looks, and hearing his voice from a chibi version of Boba is just GOLD XD
I love that the Blind Wave community is generally not very negative. This is one of the most hated episodes everywhere else on the internet. Here, there are still people who don't like it, but they're nice enough to say things like "I don't prefer this one," rather than be overly hateful.
Yeah, I can see how this episode is perceived as one of the weakest episodes but I don’t get hate.
@@TheJabbate1 oh I definitely hate it, but I don't see the point in going around talking about it. I need that energy to spread sequel hate.
@@my5head hate is such a strong word
@@DrHeroe why, yes it is.
I never knew I wanted to see a punk Rock Hutt. Or a padawan in a rock band. Or a rock concert at the Boonta Arena........until this episode. This was so wholesome and cute. I particularly loved that Temura voiced Boba
Not one of my favorites from _Star Wars Visions_ but it was fairly entertaining due to the story between Jay and Geezer the Hutt and the music band _Star Waver_ trying to be famous until their concerts get interrupted, their most recent from Boba Fett.
Plus you got a Hutt being a bass player in a music band which in MOST Star Wars media, Hutts tend to be crime lords, although in Legends we did had a Hutt that was a Force wielder and used a Lightsaber.
Finally, let's address the voice cast in the English version as you got Temuera Morrison reprising his role as Boba Fett and Jay being voiced by Joseph Gordon Levitt.
Watch it in sub it's awesome awesome dude dub wass bad
@@pricemaxer9736 Nah disagree. Joseph Levitt actually sang this pretty well, and it was awesome to hear his singing voice (watch his videos he is great). The dub vits my vibe personally as a rock song in general. The dub song is actually way more awesome than the sub. I agree with Ernesto.
Agreed. A hutt being a singer is definitely something unique. Also Joseph Gordon Levitt sings like a Disney prince lol, I can see why Disney picked him specifically for this role. Definitely prefer the dub overall.
Hahaha I love that you namedropped the dancers. I actually think it would have been funny if instead of (or in addition to) Obi-Wan's hut it was a glimpse of Tosche Station and teen Luke rocking out (or maybe at his home with Owen yelling at him to turn it down).
Anyway, probably on the lower end of episdoes but I do think it's cute and I love the concept of a Jedi and a Hutt running away from their respective issues to just be in a band and bring the power of rock to the masses.
OMG the concept of it being Rotta as a rebellious Hutt with a soft spot for Jedi (a character whose existence I honestly kind of despise as it amounts to nothing even though it should be a major thing. Come to think about it that's also how I used to feel about Ahsoka, but they actually made that character fit into the lore and reasonably explained why she's not around) is absolutely brilliant, I wish they had gone that route, haha (Jabba might not have executed him but they don't know that). That would actually...explain a lot.
I actually thought it was Luke's home the first time I saw it.
Marc Thompson is the narrator for a lot of the Star Wars audiobooks.
"People in the real world dream about being a rockstar - it's ubiquitous. But that dream is only really achieved through belief and friendship. And that's the Star Wars part, too."
―James Waugh
I love this episode
I know not alot of people like this episode I like the name but my favorite episode is coming but after this is my new favorite episode of what if
*Under-appreciated detail:* His singing should be interpreted as an application of the Force, similar to a Jedi Mind Trick, but slightly different.
Their efforts to run or fight off their attackers all fail, but they win through words alone. This short's scenario is based upon _exactly_ what occurs with Luke trying to save his friends from Jabba in RotJ.
The opening specifically emphasized that he's a Force user. His lightsaber broke while he was still just a Padawan running from Order 66. By singing to the oppressed, he's using the Force and his voice as a weapon for knowledge and defense - not attacking. This is why his blade shorts out when he goes to confront Boba Fett. This makes him EXACTLY like what defines a Jedi, despite never completing his training (again, just like the position Luke starts out in during RotJ).
Since he was taken in by a Hutt, he'd know that he can't use the Force to convince Jabba directly to spare their friend from execution with a Mind Trick - since as a Hutt, he's immune to those Force influences.
That why he smiles when he says they're "just a band" because he's using that perspective to influence the situation in a way that a Jedi should, by downplaying himself as any possible threat to Jabba. It's the exact opposite of what Luke does in trying to intimidate Jabba into compliance.
His direct meeting with Jabba isn't shown, because he only managed to get Jabba to grant then a single song BEFORE their friend was executed. That's why he ignites his lightsaber and initially the guards are afraid and want to disarm him, but he says that it's ONLY a microphone. He's once again downplaying the power of the Force that's with him and is in everyone else in the crowd. This is a crown of Tatooine - a planet of slaves and people oppressed by the Hutts, exactly the same syndicate that their friend wanted to be no part of that earned him his execution.
That all comes together in how he can rely on the Force, singing through his lightsaber to draw in the crowd to be unified and sing along with them. He's not mind tricking them or making them speak, but he's using the Force to make sure he can connect to them as people whose only power is their voice. As a collective, he's utilizing the social pressure focused around love to put Jabba in a position to _want do the right thing_ and spare their friend.
That's why all he needs is the one song, and then it's still up to him to speak out and make a last second appeal to Jabba - which all rests on the public's support. When it works, he has essentially used the Force to change Jabba's mind, and manipulate him to giving them what they want. Most impressively of all - they succeed at doing what Luke later failed to in RotJ.
It's a lot of reading between the lines, but this explains WHY his character is who he is, and why the other specific story beats and developments with him happen the way that they do. It's also why all of the RotJ character references are a big deal and not just fan service.
I really enjoyed this ep, was fun, and when it comes to sub vs dub of the song, honestly I personaly vibed with the dub more tho both are great
Yeah, trying to timeline these stories is a non-starter. I think they are just to be enjoyed for what they are.
Besides ep 5 and ep 7, those can exist in the timeline.
I like how the Japanese actor who plays Present Mic in My Hero plays Jay here, another singer
Fun fact: the Japanese Dub VA of Jay is the same Japanese VA as Present Mic from MHA. It was pretty cool hearing him sing not just for any show, but a Star Wars show.
My favorite episodes for Visions: 1,4 and 5
Same top 3 for me
Thanks, Eric! Thanks, Rick! Thanks, Calvin! Thanks, Aaron! 🎙️
I Liked this episode it was fun and that was the point. It sent me back to my childhood days watching sonic underground again xD
Honestly this was my favorite
This is probably my favorite episode. The most wholesome from all of them
Ep 3 is gonna be ridiculous!
Having three torsos, heads and pairs of arms must be so useful
The JP song is actually Insane
This series could easily be cannon, nothing changed nothing altered , love these star wars visions
Not sure about the twins tho.
@@landonwyndham979 Yeah, it's awkward, being someone who loves Studio Trigger's work... their episode is the only one I've not only not greatly enjoyed, but actively disliked. So far, at least, as I'm five episodes in.
@@landonwyndham979 they not really human in a way, they were made from the darkside of the force, and the force you are able to survive in space, though that is based on their power of the force
With the talk about "Hutt Legacy" and whatnot, I thought this episode could be about Jabba's son. I thought the bass player was Stinky the Hutt, going through a rebellious phase.
I definitely prefer the JP version of the song. The vocals were better sounding imo.
dubs are not always the best at making that conversion
I dont think the vocals were meant to sound good
@@therandomhorse66 I mean the JP version actually sounds good, the dub just sounds like dogshit.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt did a good try, but I think his voice in particular is more align with like a smooth jazz vocal, not so much alt-rock. The Japanese version of the song matched the musical tone better.
@@bameronrunner5502 Idk my opinion is that both the dub and sub sound dogshit cheesy but I had a good laugh with the English version and that “hey JabbA” line delivery.
Considering this is the lowest rated episode, I found it so fun and I had the song stuck in my head for ages. Not a single bad visions episode for me
There’s someone in Obi wans house. You can see smoke coming out of the chimney.
This and "The Ninth Jedi" are by far the best episodes for me
People may not like this episode that much, but at least they tried to do something different. As much as I love a lot of the other episodes, they're all a shade of "Jedi OC gets in a lightsaber battle".
Also, I know you guys have a very specific schedule that you like to keep, but by the time you finish Visions everyone will have moved on from it lol. Heck, it's already starting to happen. This release format isn't very good for shows that come out all at once, let alone animated short anthologies that run a bit shorter than your average cartoon episode.
Yeah agree. It takes some serious restraint to not put a lightsaber fight in your Star Wars short.
I always forget that star wars fans only deal in absolutes xD
I may not be the first one to say it, but I invite you to watch this one in JP by yourselves, especially for the song that it totally rocks there.
this episode remind me of that one anime called Beck
JGL voice has not changed a bit since Treasure Planet.
Nice Harry Otter shirt lol been to Monterey recently?
wholesome
I don't understand why this seems to be considered a "lesser" episode. It was my personal favourite. Not every episode has to be about epic battles between the Jedi and the Sith, and I liked the story of the band. Also, the singing sounds good in the Japanese version, it's only bad in the English dub.
totaly agree, tho i really enjoyed the dub personaly
@@wyren925 The dub was okay, but the singing wasn't that great, especially compared to the Japanese version.
Thought it was better than The Twins and I really wanted to love the twins
@@thecams3858 Yeah, me too. My thoughts exactly.
@@wyren925 Agreed
i have a theory the slug is jabbas rocking rebel son
Because of not the Empire, the new Republic before the old Empire
Wholesome anime Star Wars. 😊 Sign me up.
That’s the new ending before Vader is reborn
My favorite part was the bith band sweating in worry.
We get it Eric, they’re not cannon, just enjoy it
I think other stories put too much emphasis on lightsabers and kyber crystals. This one was definitely entertaining while exploring other parts of the galaxy
That wasn't Boba it was Chibi Fett
A very fun and neat gem, but one of the very few episodes where sub is personally preferred
lyn me was here which means are boi max rebo is gonna show these guys up
And the nine Jedi academy of arts in the next chapter
Chibi Boba Fett
Instead of the Green Day sound I wish they would have gone with Dethklok...
Better metal snake
Face-fisted
Briefcase full of guts
Laser Cannon Death Sentence
Really, this one needs to be watched in the original Japanese. JGL is fine as an actor, but....as a singer...well...
Where's Hando?
Don’t worry, the Japanese version of the song doesn’t have any voice cracks
😂
The style of the animation is such a solid old style... I want to say 70s style anime?
the english version was kinda wack ngl
i only had it on english for the boba scene lol
Can you guys please react to Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen
Loved the Concept. Loathed the "music". The voice of the singer was grating to say the least.
Please react to "The Return" - A Star Wars Fan Film
I'm pretty sure *rock music* would definitely be a more powerful weapon against the Empire. Just like Jefferson Starship.
Just felt wierd to me watching a band rock out in star wars universe but oh well interesting I suppose
(the japanese song) doesn’t sound any different? holy shit
You guys should really try reacting to squid game
Next ep tho hehheus
the flashy nothing burger
Japanese dubbed hits different imo
This episode is much better in Japanese!!! The English singing isn't very good.
Boba looked cool, The three headed alien was cool The rest was iffy Definitely not one of my favorites
Please react to squid game
It would be hard for me to decide which would be more painful, watching this episode again or any of the sequel trilogy.
Watching the sequels as this is only 18 something minutes long
Sequel trilogy is 10 times better than this episode and 2 times better than prequel imo.
You guys should listen to the sub version of the song the English doesn't do it justice
11:39 they listened to it
Nah. Disagree. The dub was awesome and wad sang really well by Joseph Levitt. It just fits with the overall rock and roll vibe that I felt when I was watching this episode. Joseph is a professional singer and an actor, Disney picked the right person to sing this song.
@@alexanderhardianto253 honestly preffered the Sub version, the Dub really didn't do it for me. It doesn't help that this wasn't my favorite episode, but I was hoping that by the end of it we'd get an amazing song, which eh. It's not bad I guess but definitely not what I'd consider an amazing StarWars song. Especially if we consider all the musical masterpieces brought to us through starwars.
@@SharkMako I still disagree lmao. Joseph really is a great singer and he actually increased my enjoyment for this episode. The sub was good but it didnt leave any form of impression on me, the dub fits the rock and roll vibe. The song however I agree it doesnt fit something john williams would compose and it is not something I would consider a "star wars" soundtrack but I still enjoyed listening to it especially the dub version.
Joseph Gordon Levitt is actually a great professional singer, which increased my enjoyment for this episode personally. I really love his voice (he honestly sings like a Disney prince lol, I can see why Disney picked him specifically for this role) Definitely prefer the dub overall, it just fits my vibe especially if this song is meant to be in a rock and roll style and it takes place in the star wars universe.
SQUID GAMES
Please react to squid games on Netflix!!!!!!
If you watch this episode in Japanese then the songs don't sound so bad.
Imma be honest, my least favorite episode. It isn't a bad episode, it's just a bad episode compared to the ones I've seen so far.
Have you seen the sixth episode?
@@ArmandoMPR no
Feck, i had to ruin the 69 likes mark~
i care more about this main character than rey, and its just only in 13 minute development, wtf
You could probably say that for all the episodes
That's your problem.
Please react to Squid Game. Its been taking the Netflix world by storm lately and everyone loves it and you would too. Please thumbs this up if you want them to react to it as well so they see.
This was probably my least favorite episode. Even still, Visions is such an awesome series
Probably one of the weaker episodes imo, still enjoyable though
So many of you guys are trying so hard to justify this episode in the comment section. Yeah sure it was cute and neat but it was definitely my least favorite one
SUB is waaaaaaaay better!!! XD
I really disliked how the song was song but fortunately for the band I'm not Jabba.
you should watched in japanese, its way better...
nah
@@MoviesAndTvShowsAreSubjective It is. English dub is soulless
@@DrHeroe why? i prefer sub but I have no problem with people choosing dub. It doesn't affect me and should not affect others. Every person have different preferences. Some may be slow reader. Some of my friends are. So it should not matter to anybody about others viewing preference
I didn’t like this one. I think it was the art style
Oh my god that was awful lol
Well, I'm glad I didn't watch the English version first.
yup
