    💎 This diamond painting project has been on the back burner for a few months, but I finally found the time to finish it. Thanks to Gail, who sent me the canvas, I was able to complete my diamond painting experiment to see if I could convert a DSA canvas to poured glue. I bought 4 different kinds of glue and tested them to see which one I thought worked the best. This was so much fun and I learned a lot! 💎

    I haven't used the DAC one yet.
    I did however turn a DSA canvas to a PG a couple weeks back using the dots stick. I applied 3 coats and it's super sticky and works perfectly. I love how it dries super fast.
    I'll try to upload a picture in the group.

    I had issues with the double-sided adhesive on one of the first images I ever purchased to diamond paint. I LOVED the image so much that I was willing to try anything. Since this was back in 2020, and there weren't as many resources for glue, I ended up doing a ton of research and purchased a jug of Pressure Sensitive Adhesive. I needed more than just a small bottle because it was a 70x70 image. I pulled the tape off in the same way you did but didn't realize I could end up stretching the canvas, so I messed up a section, but it ended up not being very noticeable. It's still holding up well. Anyway, I'm so glad to see there are more options now and that this ended up working out for you

      This canvas did stretch a bit as well, but it wasn’t noticeable once I applied the glue. Thanks for sharing!!

    I really appreciate how thoroughly you approached this project in a scientific manner and evaluated the worth of each glue on multiple criteria. Thank you, Daphne. ❤
    I don’t know if I ever will have the gumption to try to re-glue an entire canvas, but this is still helpful information in case I have a canvas with an area of little to no stick or something similar.
    I do know that A Homespun Hobby does her own poured glue on her canvases and I think she has a couple of videos out there showing her process. I have not looked into whether she recommends or uses something else or how many coats she uses to complete a painting, though. ❤

      It was interesting to try the different glues, though I imagine 4oz of glue wouldn’t cover a large canvas. Thanks for watching!!

    I would never bother to do this, but I SO APPRECIATE you doing this video and trying it out because it's given me the confidence that the dsa kits that I have done won't fall apart. I did a 180 x 90 for my son and have had nightmares that the whole thing would just slide right off the backing! LOL

      @DiamondPaintingAnonymous  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Oh no, it was just an experiment. I’ve done a 100X90 DSA kit and it’s going strong after 2 years of hanging on my wall! thanks for watching!!

    I have one i would like to transform as well but the tape is a papery sticky mess. Yours is actually much nicer because it is plastic only. Next time use blue painters tape to put around the canvas, it removes without residue but holds the canvas in place.

    • @DiamondPaintingAnonymous
      @DiamondPaintingAnonymous  Před 2 měsíci

      I think someone said it was possible to put the poured glue over the DSA? Though it would depend on what shape your DSA, I suppose. Another project for another day! Thanks for watching!!

    I used the DAC adhesive on my phone case and did a little design with spare drills. It was just after watching this video. It's held up way past my expectations.

    I’ve used the DD glue, usually 2 coats. Used a coupon at Joann’s. AND, it’s still sticky after months without a cover.

    I used to represent a candle company and if you want to remove wax from a spill you would use the blow dryer to liquify the glue. You might try a section like that before the freezing. Might not but might be much easier

    I think I'd personally just deal with the DSA... This is a lot of effort (and time and money), for not much return. But thank you for showing us that it can be done!

    • @DiamondPaintingAnonymous
      @DiamondPaintingAnonymous  Před 4 měsíci

      It was pricey for me because I was testing out different glues. If I did it again, I wouldn't need to do that. Hopefully my testing can save someone else that expense! Thanks for watching!!

  • @vonnekeiser209
    @vonnekeiser209 Před 3 měsíci

    Here's a thought. What if you just added the poured glue on top of the dsa? Would that be close enough for what you're trying to achieve? (I couldn't tell if you're going for more stick or just the feel of doing it)

    • @DiamondPaintingAnonymous
      @DiamondPaintingAnonymous  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I didn’t think of that, but someone else commented that you absolutely can. I was just trying it to see if it worked as a fun experiment. Thanks for watching!!

    Hi my love... Sorry for my English.. Because it is not my first language... I did the dac glue... If you want it to work... Leave it at least over night..and leave it uncovered for that night... Then you can put cover sheets

    I wonder if you can use pour glue over the tape glue?

    • @DiamondPaintingAnonymous
      @DiamondPaintingAnonymous  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Maybe? Not sure how the liquid glue would affect the adhesive of the tape. Thanks for watching!!

    • @user-xs5qr6dt1h
      @user-xs5qr6dt1h Před 4 měsíci +1

      You can! It works perfectly well - I do 2 coats on top of the tape and it creates a lovely, springy feel and you can still shift the drills around like a normal poured glue canvas! Highly recommend.

  • @StephanieShadell
    @StephanieShadell Před 4 měsíci

    I'm only on my second canvas so I'm completely naive to some of these more advanced canvas options. Why do people rather not work with double sided adhesive?

    • @DiamondPaintingAnonymous
      @DiamondPaintingAnonymous  Před 4 měsíci +1

      DSA is slightly harder to work with because it can have more issues like air bubbles and such, and it's not as forgiving as poured glue if you need to move a drill after it's been placed. Thanks for watching!!

    I love double-sided adhesive kits but I get it. But in all fairness to double-sided kits this one is not 😮😢great I have bought the same tape(double-sided) for rivers I take off the old tape and put down new.But I have never had the canvas rip off symbols. 😢 but I have Ali-express kits.

    • @DiamondPaintingAnonymous
      @DiamondPaintingAnonymous  Před 3 měsíci +1

      For me, it was an experiment to see how difficult it would be. Many DSA kits have issues like rivers and bubbles which keep your drills from laying flat. Thanks for watching!

      To get off the rest of the DSA that was left? I hadn’t thought of that, but once I applied the liquid glue, those little spots weren’t noticeable. Thanks for watching!!
