President Z isn't stupid, he knows exactly who Trump is; a transactional, vindictive, apathetic, reckless, hateful, and wholly insecure little man who's ego is incredibly fragile. No way would he ever say he felt pressured, but we can see.thatbwas the case by his actions. If he didn't feel pressured to make that announcement on CNN, he wouldn't have immediately cancelled it the moment he found out Trump got busted and released the aid. That's all you need to know.

A party that follows "news" from publications that register as "entertainment" so they don't have to held accountable for lies and misinformation. A party that blindly repeats we're #1, then omits the reasons why. A party so far right that they call their own past policies socialist, and would hate Jesus of Nazareth if he was around today.

      No.
      “A lie will go round the world while truth is pulling its boots on.”
      C. H. Spurgeon, Gems from Spurgeon (1859).
      An earlier version appears in the Portland (Me.) Gazette, Sept. 5, 1820: “Falsehood will fly from Maine to Georgia, while truth is pulling her boots on.”
      Still earlier, Jonathan Swift wrote in The Examiner, Nov. 9, 1710: “Falsehood flies, and the truth comes limping after it.”
      So...Swift, anyone? Would anyone else like to stand on the shoulders of Swift and...maybe say something cool? While knowing whose shoulders you stand on?

    well, this is how your system is set up:
    1. A political spectrum that is limited to just two parties means the country is always split in two. one in power and the other in the opposition. one ''bad'' one ''good'' ''us'' vs ''them'' are 320 million Americans really represented by just these two parties?
    instead of having to work together to form governments. or gain each other's support. it forces these two parties to be adversaries
    2. a majority vote can be overruled by the Electoral College.
    winning the majority vote (or popular vote) would mean in any other democracy around the world, they would have been president/prime minister. yet this system seems to be designed to work against the voter. a political get out of jail free card.
    forcing the candidate with the majority vote to stand down and the candidate with the minority vote to run for office without the full support of the people. a presidency with a weak foundation.
    3. a president is limited to just two terms. even when their approval ratings are still high, the president is willing and fit enough to do 4 more years and they have the voter behind them. the system forces them to stand down. not the voter or the president themselves decide when it's time to step down.
    4. when a president breaks the rules/law the system seems to be designed to protect them. in other democracies (those with more parties) one of the government parties might cancel support for the president/prime minister (or the opposition might file a vote of no confidence) collapsing their majority. and ask the voter for a vote of what should be done. (a new government) but because the US is limited to two parties an impeachment hearing and trial are needed. while other democracies would have returned to the voter, the US is spending months figuring what to do and potentially months with a president that might be inept. might have broken the rules and laws. months where more damage might be done.
    5. an impeachment trial is completely pointless in a two-party political system. if the president's (the accused) party is big enough within the senate than they can simply overrule this whole trail. (or easily 'win' the trail when the accuser's party is big enough) meaning it's completely pointless to even attempt a trail like this.
    basically, the jury is filled with the friends of the accused. fair or another get out of jail card?
    no system is perfect. but this one seems very odd to me.

    • @debracottrill7989
      @debracottrill7989 Před 4 lety +3

      What system do you suggest we have. You make good points but what's the answer? I believe America would have enjoyed 4 more years of Obama. He was so adept in healing the economy for real and he had a sense of humor that didn't hurt anyone. He had class and character. We have someone that's the opposite whose numbers are less lying about the economy among so many other things he couldn't be bothered to accomplish. No trousers Don has awakened us to what we can no longer take for granted. Seems nothing is driving down his poll numbers and he seems to be empowered to do even more lawless acts. No one can tell me his base is doing better financially or any other area of their lives, so why are they following him?

    • @dontmisunderstand6041
      @dontmisunderstand6041 Před 4 lety +1

      To reply to your points...
      1. That's an issue created by the American people, not the system itself.
      2. That was precisely the intent. Prevailing wisdom of the time was that the average American would be too stupid or too ignorant to make good choices, so a failsafe was put into place to prevent the population at large from electing someone unfit for office out of ignorance. You could argue that was a poor choice, and that it's backfired, but it's not as though there's no logical merit to the idea.
      3. This actually didn't used to be the case. Franklin Roosevelt was elected president for 4 terms. For no real reason, changes to the law were made afterward to prevent that.
      4. The system itself was designed specifically to give as little power as possible to all members of government, at every stage. Decades of propaganda and societal change caused a shift in public perception to the pseudo-fascist mentality we have today, and that is what really defends corruption.
      5. In practice you're correct, but there are specific items in the Constitution that were put in place to make the system work in theory. For example, Senators are constitutionally mandated to serve as impartial jurors in an impeachment trial... logically, this makes sense. The ability to remove your own bias from your decision making is what makes a person qualified to lead in the first place. In theory that's fine, but it fails to account for human nature, and thus fails in practice.

      @@dontmisunderstand6041 every system designed by man will have human failings. the path to improved government involves recognizing problems and then changing the system. right now there are greedy selfish people in power and they are quite happy with a system that rewards their greed. controlling the media and saying news doesn't have to be true make it impossible to recognize what needs to be changed and causes confusion and division.
