      JL LIFE OFFROAD thanks man, yeah should be a pretty good setup, can’t wait to test it out.

    Axle tubes are just mild steel. No need to pre heat or anything specific, super simple weld. The pumpkin is a cast and a little tricky.

      Yeah the tubes don’t need preheated, I was referring to the FAD section on the passenger side tube. The FAD is cast just like the pumpkin and that’s what the welder was having issues with, it was his first JL truss. I’m sure he’s got it figured out now, thanks for watching man!

      @@FROSTBITEOFFROAD gotcha. I was not trying to correct you negatively, just didn’t want others to be afraid of doing it thinking something else. I do want to complement you on the truss and build. Looking really good and trail ready.👍

      @@suckerpunch1977 no worries I was just clarifying, thanks I get a lot of use out of that front locker and the control arm skids, definitely glad I swapped out the Dana 30!

    With the swap are you able to use original drive shaft and control arms? Also, is wiring up the lockers as easy as it sounds?

    • @FROSTBITEOFFROAD
      @FROSTBITEOFFROAD  Před 2 lety

      It’s a factory axle so all the flange’s and mounts are the same. The locker is only 2 wires and if you have the factory aux switches or an S-pod it’s super easy. I did an install video if you decide to go that route, thanks for watching Mark!

      @@FROSTBITEOFFROAD Thanks for the reply. I have a Gladiator and have the axles out of a Rubicon Gladiator and now trying to make sure I have everything I need for the swap. Really like the way your axle turned out!

      @@markdvorak3661 thanks, I’ve been getting a lot of use out of that locker! Mopar sells a wire kit just for that scenario, I bought mine through Quadratec.

    Awesome upgrades...I'm curious...if you're going to regear the rear, why not save up a little more $ and regear both axles to 4.88 to get it back to stock rubicon feeling pushing 37s? Would also make life easier for your transmission..

      Ideally I would have, I got a great deal on the front axle and rear ring and pinion. Did the whole upgrade for the same price as regearing the Dana 30/44. I may in the future regear both but I would like to find a Rubicon rear axle first.

    Hey man out of curiosity how much did the shop charge to prep weld and repaint?

    • @FROSTBITEOFFROAD
      @FROSTBITEOFFROAD  Před 4 lety +2

      Impact Doc the shop I went to charged $250 to weld it on, I repainted it myself. I thought it was very reasonable but he did say it was more work than he thought originally.

      If the shop had to "go over it twice to get the welds to stick" they didn't weld it correctly. 😅
