You can imagine how many times he would have been broken that neck before perfecting it . 👍 Amazing
6 times
Would it be a complete redo rwch time?
I can imagine the chances of someone breaking the neck after they buy it.
It did break. Why didn't we get to see the final project?
HE’S BEEN BROKEN?
I don't know why this is so satisfying to watch...
I had the same sentiment
It’s all those rings rising upward...😍
Yes pa i am also same feel ..
Hd the same feeling ..
Because I can't do it hahaha
As someone who has just had her 6th lesson I'm in awe!! This is so skilled.
Goals for sure. Annie, that's exciting! As a 20 year teacher I can say, keep practicing and watching every detail of what good potters do with their hands. You'll be surprised at what you can learn fairly quickly!
This is the first time I've seen a potter use a blow torch. Could someone explain what this does? Does it harden the clay or make it more malleable?
@@JustUsInBaja He did it to set the clay a bit but still malleable enough to carry on - I think he was afraid the shape might not hold.
6th lesson ahahahahaha try 25 years
@@JustUsInBaja its to dry the clay a bit so you can work it better
This clay just evolved into several different vases in one long spin and touch🙌👏 Respect to this guy!😌
Смотрела не дыша.
A thing does not made overnight. It is made with the love of artist.
This literally the evolution of my body during quarantine.
Hahaha
🤣👍🏼
XD
Hahahaha nooo stop!! That was so funny
😂
Regardless of if you take a liking to pottery or not, I believe we can all agree that this is fantastic. ❤
My college pottery professor told me he had a habit of making vases flared top for his wife, so when it came to buying her flowers to fill up the vase he wouldn't have to buy nearly as many. One of my favorite professors I've had to this day.
Hi
Brasil é o país que tem os melhores artesãos.
cheap.
@@aZnchuux3 no smart.
Cheeky😂👌
Finally after two years of attempts I finally threw a decent narrow neck. All thanks to watching you throw them. Thank you so much for sharing with us !
Hats off to his patience. Patience is secret of every artist... ❤️
Me: Why am I watching this again-
Brain: Hush, my child
Im always fascinated with people who do ceramics. Theyre like airbenders in real life!!! This video is awesome!! CZcams sometimes dont fail to amaze me!!
I have been a semi-pro potter for many years. I can honestly say this shape is definitely one of the most difficult to throw. I've done many bottles but none so graceful as this piece. I never thought of drying them out with a torch as I go along-that would definitely help keep them from collapsing, as mine did so many times-thanks for the tip! Great job!
They make throwing so much easier. I use both a blow torch and an electrical paint stripping gun. Mostly the electrical one as I have more control over it.
I admire your great grammar, I'm only in the third grade and I DESIRE a life full of grammar.
@@samara_pride149 Well, thank you! I try and do the best I can. Tip- ALWAYS proofread your emails, texts, etc. a second time before you hit send. I find cringe-worthy errors almost every time. Have a great day!
@@DavidDeavenport You too, great sir. My Gmail is just fine but, thank you for your kindness.
@@DavidDeavenportSame here.
Wow! It takes incredible precision to achieve this. Just when you think he's going to squeeze too hard and pop that neck off, he's got it. Great work!
I'm mesmerized by the stunning beauty of it all, the process, the artist's perfection. It's sooooo satisfying to watch.
In highschool whenever I would try to throw a narrow necked vase the neck would always wrinkle when I would try to throw it up as this guy did T.T he has much skills and I am sure he put in the time to get that good ^^ I miss throwing it was the best and my ceramic teacher was awesome! Keep throwing your great and I’m sure you will inspire another generation of people who will love to throw ^^
Good clay is a game changer. Especially for shaping knecks. I would spend almost more time meading mid to bad grade clay back in school then throwing for pots like this. I miss it too.
Matt I have watched this video SO many times :) I love pots that have "skinny necks" and you do them perfectly. It's a challenge I have every time I make one.
I also use a blow torch on my pots, this enables me to throw taller AND I can make and finish the pot all in the same day :)
Thanks "as always" Matt.
Such a gorgeous shape. And, I'm simply mesmerized watching the pot come into being. Lovely work!

Oh wow, and white clay is a fickle mistress! Talk about patience and skill.
If i was there...
My mind : just break the neck
Me : no
After a sec
Me: *breaks neck*
My mind : 😌 that's my child
This is what i call peace of mind
Is it the vase's neck or someone else's?
Is it the vase's neck or someone else's?
Not childish this is called psycho
This is not only very fun to watch but imagine what it would feel like to actually do it with your own hands!!! This is so beautiful and relaxing!!!
What skill and confidence! I was experiencing anxiety while he was pulling the neck, making it thinner and thinner! Having only a little experience throwing I know how difficult that is! Wow!
I was so tense and literally at the edge of the seat of my chair with my jaws set! Needed a stiff drink after!
Same, same! Time for a stiff drink!
It is so cool to watch someone who really knows the clay to create. It is art in the action and the finished piece! It seems so second nature for you. People try their whole lives to be able to throw this well without ever getting there. Very bright future to continue in ceramics for you! Bravo!
Beautiful work! I haven’t thrown clay in 50 years. You have inspired me to give it a try again. Thank you!
That was beautiful to watch! I'm no expert, however I can imagine the skill it takes to make that neck and get it balanced and steady! The roundness of that vase is gorgeous! 💜💜💜
Amazing skills...this potter's wheel never ceases to amaze me...
The way he balances the top as he's squeezing you can see the top wobble and would fall over were it not for the computer like precision of his hands. Simply masterful!
Didnt think turning pottery was so hard until i actually tried it in college and failed so hard at it. Every. Damn. Class.
So, much respect to you dude, idk how you do it.
Something so trancendentally beautiful from what is basically a lump of moist dirt!
God made us with that lump,
Pottery is nothing.
Simply breathtaking to watch! What an amazing potter you are -- and a true inspiration on my own journey to throw a pot like this. One can only hope that I can do this one day.
Both the pottery and Potter are such beautiful piece of art 😄✨✨and his talent is on an whole another level❣️👑
I know this is for decorative purposes but imagine how many flowers you could fit through that neck 😂. That was really good.
I thought the same thing AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Nice Video! I am a potter and therefore appreciate how much skill is needed to make a form like this.
My heart stopped when he made the neck thinner. And then even thinner! 🙀
Ne to i look like it was going to fall for
I mean fall off
If your heart stopped you'd be dead. These expressions are getting dumber.
No one ask you
@@Noface763 no one talking to you. Mind your own business. Get lost.
I have no idea how you turned that lump of clay into such a beautiful vase. I am speechless. Hat's off to you sir
I love how your pot dances to the music, great piece! 💖
So relaxing to watch! Love it
Stunning. I was holding my breath when you were forming that extremely thin neck, though! I cannot imagine how it didn't just pop right off!!
Wow... the transformation is so beautiful.... love watching the whole process
Amazing to watch this and be reminded of how we’re are being molded like clay in the Father’s hands. The right amount of heat, the ups and downs, sometimes going round and round and all the while we don’t see the big picture but we are skillfully being perfected.
💖Such amazing skill. PERFECTLY done!💖
most relaxing work of all time
Respct to the highly pacticted, talented and skilled Matthew Horn. Thank you for sharing your amazing work with us all.
Ppl who work with clay got the most beautiful hands 🙌
One Word for you Matt....Amazing
True Craftsmanship.....You are seriously talented.. Keep up the Good Work. Very Few can do this.
amazing...your art is so neat....flawless. I personally like these thin necked pots than conventional ones
Varun me too
All the time you did the neck, I remained in apnea...wonderful mastery of your land and great experience, I admire it, well done!
Such amazing pottery and skills. You're the first pottery youtuber I ever watched and I can't get enough! Thank you for always putting out quality videos and beautiful pottery. You've inspired me
You made it so beautifully.👏🏼
The skill going into this is nuts. Very cool! I'm new to throwing, so the flame threw me a bit. Very impressive!
Thank you :) it just takes practice. The flame helps dry the porcelain a bit as I'm working, allowing for more extreme forms with less risk of it collapsing on itself.
@@Matthornepottery After spending a lot more time on the wheel, I'm still amazed. Is that porcelain? It looks like warm butter - a compliment. I'm just worried someone's gonna pick it up by the neck. Great work!
He has full confidence in himself and the way clay responses. Very beautiful
This is incredible! I only started throwing 2 days ago, now I have a goal! When I get to do this, I know I’m good 👏 well done sire!
Honestly, your video is great
Awesome, man! Love it. Wanna try doing this one day!
This is just so awesome.😍 I would definitely buy this kinda of art piece.
It's an absolute beauty. What skill. Thank you Matt. Brilliant!

Perfection in ratio and dimensions. A joy to watch.
Beautifully graceful vase. Love it !!
Stunning! One day when I'm old & grey & have millions from my novels I'll sit down & learn ceramics. lol
You are very talented and the vase is gorgeous.
This was so beautiful to watch...and a gorgeous piece in indeed. Respect for your skill and what you do. 👏
Wow that’s amazing! Great job! You’re very talented!

Why is it attractive to watch guys being creative 😭
This was nerve wrecking to watch lmao. Nevertheless, what a beautiful piece! I don’t know much about pottery but I find these tiny openings/necks (?) really pretty💕 Must have taken a lot of time to master!
