This beautiful family been livin on Mischief Farm for about 10 yrs. Workin on farm chores, involves in their community, doing charity for Astor House for Children, even their son going to public school. They're not celebrity couple living exclusively in a farm with some helper doing the chores. And Hilarie's book keep the local bookstore going when pandemic hit. They sold more than 8 thousands of Hilarie's autographed copy which usually limited. They are really an awesome family.

This is not someone starting from scratch...they have big money. Saying that..it's also a huge lifestyle change/shift. Best wishes.
My sister moved from the city to a farm and didn’t have much money... she got a new job and she loves it! Lazy people find excuses.

Lazy turns into crazy.
Solution: Find a job and work minimum 30 hours to maximum 50 or 60 hours. Earn money and save money. Don't spend on unnecessary items (cigarettes, alcohol, new vehicle, eating at restaurants).
My parents and I moved to the waaaay back country in Washington state, no house, running water, power...we built everything, I learned so much from that experience that I know I can survive anything life throws my way, I love this for them!!!

I live on a ranch. It's very peaceful and makes life less stressful. The only downside is the travel time to and from the nearest town.
This wouldn't be ideal for me , I live in Rhode Island and we'll go to New Hampshire or Vermont to visit but I couldn't live there because I love a city environment.
If everyone who lives in a city, moved to a hobby farm.....there wouldn't be enough room for real farms.
You don't have to be millionaires or have a big house to be content. There are many people who lead less sophisticated lives (living in a hut or farmhouse) and are much happier than millionaires and billionaires. The important thing is to be grateful for what you have and wish for less.

I see a lot of people in the comments replying about wouldn’t it be nice to be rich, and just be able to throw money around and buy a farm or do whatever you want, but clearly don’t know much about Hillary’s story and background. A lot of the money they have now comes from the success of The Walking Dead and Supernatural which her husband acts/acted on, but she has been very upfront about having to put her acting on hold, being blacklisted in Hollywood, struggling for money, being a stay at home mom while he went out looking for gigs, etc. It’s only been more recently that they have become more mainstream in film and tv, with her being a prominent Hallmark actress (which primarily shoots in Canada not LA) and him getting more recognition for his work. I am not saying that their money doesn’t give them privilege, but they did work hard for it, and I commend them for trying to keep a local small business and a staple in their town alive when they could help. There is also a big difference in I buy a crap ton of private jets rich and treat people like shit versus I bought another piece of land, and now own a farm rich. Also they have been very open about not wanting to raise their children in the world of Hollywood nonsense, and give them a better understanding of hard work and life skills. That’s not a bad thing.

@F F let me clarify a little better because I realized after reading this back that I didn’t explain it as well as I could have. On One Tree Hill she and several other women dealt with sexual harassment and other related issues which affected their careers for years after. Then she got a big break with Hallmark, but spoke out about some of their less than inclusive practices and was fired. Not everyone with money is naive to their privilege or didn’t work their ass off to get there. People’s stories are often more complicated than we would like to admit.

@@cnashford2 unfortunately Hallmark was an a$$ hat to Hilary all because she just wanted more people represented in their movies (gay roles & more people of color in lead roles which is a very fair point) so she probably will never be returning to Hallmark after her two movies with them. 😭

It will happen. Never give up. I was in the same boat a year ago. Every interview, I learned something different about myself and how I can improve. I continued to interview and I landed the perfect job. Just do not give up on yourself. Your job is near.

@@Ava2969ny It is a big, bustling city. It is good and difficult, probably like any city or town. It depends on what you interests are & what you are looking for. There are so many opportunities & experiences. So much culture, theater, museums, music, entertainment, restaurants, nightlife, etc. Great beaches, skiing, wine country, sunshine. It is also crowded, traffic can be a nightmare & people can be rude. It can be expensive. Like any city, Los Angeles has positives & negatives. The best way is to not listen to others; visit So Calif and decide for yourself. 🏖

except locals of wherever they move will be forced out of their own community. People like this cause displacement due to gentrification. They refuse to adapt to local ways. I know because my community was invaded. I’m a rare local. I was born in the hospital in my town. Everyone else has been pushed out due to costs. Rent used to be 500$ a month for a nice two bedroom. It’s now $2200+. I’m on my way out too. It’s really messed up I never planned on leaving. I’m being forced out. This is happening in many community’s.
Why should small town folk be forced out of their community for some rich city assholes?

Play each character, create your own website, market yourself, be aware of Hollywood predators, learn how to become a producer, take professional pictures for a scrapbook, Hollywood is so one sided. Dont get discouraged and keep pushing, dont just depend on auditions, dont do drugs parties or alcohol.. always be you! You got this!

I'm a chef & a bartender, so as long as there are good restaurants, I'll have many choices. Trust me, I'm definitely not a young kid, I plan everything well in advance.

L.A. is wonderful if you have a gazillion dollars. A nice life in Malibu, a villa in the hills (Bel-Air, Beverly, or Hollywood), and PLENTY of cash to pay for the upkeep, maintenance, $5.50 gallon gas, Erawhon grocery bills, etc. BUT this actress I think has the right idea. Go after a simple life, rural, pastoral, quiet, and possibly VISIT L.A. for fun, beach, and adventures. She’s right on the money!!

I believe ALL schools need to teach EVERY SINGLE CHILD the basics of farming. What will happen to them if there really is so kind of Apocalypse. I grew up in the country on 3 family farms that were side by side each other. One was my family's Homestead that was started i. 1917. Growing up out there we ALL learned growing, killing, preparing, storing and cooking our own food. Being Native American we never killed more than we needed, and never wasted what we had. This should be the main subject Every single school in the US should have to teach. We are trying to prepare them for the world. What better subject.

Didn't she have fairly humble beginnings before she moved to Hollywood? I can't imagine someone being born into wealth wanting to move to a farm and do actual work. But these two have not been born into wealth. Yes, their current wealth makes it easier, but they choose to do this rather than be a typical Hollywood couple, and seem much happier doing things this way, while raising their kids in a more wholesome environment. Also, they are very much involved with the community, from what I can see. Upstate New York is absolutely beautiful, and I hope one day to be able to visit.

Some people of the farm life I didn't like the farm life I was raised on a hundred eighty Acres but of course I was an orphanage but of course we watching the field from daylight to dark I won't even go into that but it is a good place to raise your children I will say that but it takes them well because when they enter the big-city there in a culture shock like I was
