  • The Royal Bermuda Yacht Club was established in 1844 and is one of the oldest Royal Yacht Clubs in the world. It was established by thirty Gentlemen consisting of British Army Officers and local Bermudian sailors who realized there was a need for a club. In 1846 The Royal Charter was acquired with the help of Lord Mark Kerr, a British Officer, making it the 20th Royal Club in the world and one of the oldest.
The Cocktail was created by Trader Vic Bergeron (possibly) and was first seen in print in his Bartender's Guide published in 1947. The build of this drink is a Daiquiri but instead of using simple syrup he subbed out for a little more dimension by adding Falernum and Curaçao, making it a bit drier and spicy sweet. This is a great one! Enjoy it!
As usual my hair game is on fleek!

Your cocktail shaker, shaking/mixing face is handsome. I especially enjoyed the longer haired version of you. You have this way of kind of rocking as you mix. It's like if you were at a concert, feelin' it and you somehow got past security with your tins and mixed a drink. I love this drink because I am particularly fond of orange based liquors. It has a brulee-like burnt caramel like taste from the demerara. It was my first tiki drink.

I think this is right; the recipe that Leandro provides is just too similar to a Mai Tai for my tastes. A rhum agricole helps push this into a different realm.

Hey Leandro. I wanted to tell you about a cocktail we have on the menu at the restaurant/bar I work at in Aus. So it's called a Mad Hatters Tea Party. Specs are 30 gin (Bombay saphire) 30 lime juice 30 tea infused simple syrup (tea flavour is called Southern sunrise it's lemon grass grapefruit and fruity) then 90ml on Rosè wine shaken with two strips of cucumber. Served in a tea pot with a tea cup full of ice and cucumber and line to garnish. I absolutely love it. Beautiful summer fresh cocktail. I don't think it's an original cocktail of ours but we used it in the week of a festival called Mona which is essentially a weird whacky arts festival and we liked it so much we put it on the menu. You should definitely give it a go you'll love it!

By demerara rum do you mean a rum that explicitly says demerara rum or just not Rhum Agricole? I used plantation 3 star because its molasses base and to my understanding that's what "demerara" rum means

I’m afraid “yacht” is spelled wrong on the recipe screen.
How should we begin to stock our home bars with rum? There are too many kinds! It looks like a light Cuban and an aged Demerara should be a given - they come up a lot. Then a dark Jamaican and a blackstrap? The light Jamaican rum in the Rose of Highgarden was a surprise - any other light rum styles to look out for. I have a thing for Martinique rums too - are the aged ones at all similar to Demerara?

Before he does, you could use the one from Distinguished Spirits. I have made it twice now and it is really nice! You might want to use a little less lime juice or none at all to help preservation a bit. Also, I think it is a little too heavy on the lime to begin with, especially compared to other commercial falernums.
