      @@lilablack8697 simply because she was born and raised there. Do you think native speakers don't make mistakes, they have always a perfect grammar? Yes, they do, in every language. Even I do it in my first language. The problem is that she's not a professional teacher like Kevin.

    It takes courage to call all those people out for their so called teaching. But as for me, if people are into their entertainment qualities, then so be it. There are enough professional teachers on CZcams . And it’s easy to recognize them: they never call perfectly normal and common expressions “basic”.

      will try again:
      • Saying I/we are finished implies that the person in question is in a state of being finished with some task. It is referring to the *person* and not specifically the task.
      • I/we have finished refers to the *task* itself being finished or complete, and perhaps the person has moved on to another task or is waiting for something to occur.

      I think that “I'm finished skating” is incorrect because it refers to “I’m” it does not refer to the state of skating being finished. In my view, it's correct to say “I’ve finished skating” because it refers to the action. It’s all about active and passive voice.

    Today I heard someone say the word "facts" and it sounded like "fax". I wonder if it's just my ear or a real pronunciation where there is no T or maybe it's an unreleased T or something. I would pronounce 'facts' with the TS sound like in 'cats'. I also hear a native speaker from the US say 'is' instead of 'it's' on purpose sometimes. She has probably picked up the habit from English learners, she knows the difference but sometimes uses the wrong thing

    • @Tony32
      @Tony32 Před 8 měsíci

      I think that's how they say it when speaking fast, same thing with "texts" they just say "tex" as in "I got two "tex" from her"
      I think some people skip the C in the word "fact" I always hear people saying: "in fat" same in "shocked" I hear "I was shot" 😂 could be a regional thing.
