I found a huge clearance ham for $1.30 a pound but it's just me. So of course, I bought it! I diced it all and put 2 cup portions into freezer bags and into the freezer. I think I got 23 bags. Score!
I'm a single male who doesn't cook so I usually get up on Sunday morning and head to the supermarket and buy all the store made meals on managers special. $80 for 2 weeks of food and snacks.
I think we can thank the swifties for the drop in egg prices. I didn't believe in the power, but they tweeted to Taylor Swift, who wasn't aware of how expensive they had gotten & and boom, she said she was on it. Next thing you know, egg prices were down. Like less than a week! It was crazy.
@@emilygilstrap31what dawg I was about to sell my eggs 😢😢(jk I'm sorry)
@@emilygilstrap31Trust me, it had nothing to do with Taylor Swift. People just stopped buying eggs. The egg section at the local Walmart smelled rotten because nobody was buying.
Minnesotan here! "It's not even winter at this point, it's harassment." So so so so right with you on that!!!
I was cracking up with that line!!!
True for Maine, too!
I have a friend that moved to Wisconsin . It seems like they got way more snow than we got in Michigan (not including the UP).
I made the ultimate score on 11 lbs of premium pork rib for only $13.26!!!!😁 I immediately thought Frugal Fit Mom would be so proud of me!!!
I don't know you, but I am also proud of you! Haha
same here!!! Go you!!!!
My local Kroger store (Smith's) had a ton of frozen food on clearance on Friday. Kodiak frozen waffles were $1.80/box, .30 whipped topping tubs, 10-pack burritos $1.50. And Ibotta had $1 back on the waffles. Score!! 🎉
Clearance Naan is a celebration! We also like Aldi's big rectangular flatbreads.
The way Tiny Dancer started when you were in Fred Meyer. It was like watching a movie. 🤩
I came for the grocery shopping tips, I stayed for Christine! Only you can make grocery shopping look cool 😎
😊
True.. she really does!
😂 my favorite line today!! "It's not winter it's just harassment"!!! Love your videos.
These videos are so satisfying. They really help with the anxiety that inflation has brought on with the larger hauls. Seeing the price differences between the smaller hauls and larger hauls can feel a bit overwhelming, but both are normal and they do average out. Buying the best buys where and when you can is really the best way to keep averaging that out and these videos are a great reminder of that.
I suffer from the same sickness!!! My daughter and her husband came to Sunday dinner, and my daughter said "HOW DO YOU HAVE SO MUCH FOOD?" My dad said "Your mother has a problem " hahaha....I can't stop myself when I see a deal!!!!
"It's not winter it's harassment" 😅 I love that. Best quote ever.
For syrup, buy a bottle of maple extract and add your own sugar, water. You don't need to cook it long. Tastes better than fake maple from store and loads cheaper.
Amen! I've done this with vanilla extract too
I’d rather just sprinkle pancakes & French toast with sugar & real butter.
Mapeline???? My MIL used to make this every weekend! Back in the day I thought it was so cool! Wowzers! It's still a thing?!!
I remember my Dad making that when I was in grade school.
Yes! 2 parts sugar, 1 part water, splash of mapeline extract, bring to boil...nice and hot over waffles
Not weird! Raw cauliflower dipped in Ranch is DELICIOUS! Always a go-to item to put on the crudite platter for parties.
Really?! I’ll have to try that for sure!
🤚I am usually not a fan of canned veggies but canned green beans are different! Takes me back to my childhood. Great video!
“It’s not winter, it’s harassment.” LOL!!!!!😂😂😂😂
Homemade berry syrup would be wonderful for your waffle Wednesdays. Great idea for when you find a really good buy on berries and want to stock up to freeze or for frozen berries when you get a good deal. You can freeze the syrup in freezer bags and stack them flat.
I am so jealous of all the clearance food that you find!! My Kroger never has that much on clearance. So jealous!!
I agree, I do a Winco run every month and stock up on everything. Their bulk section, produce, pay by the ounce spices are amazing. Costco is across the street so filling up my tank, and getting my monthly run there is a win win. Your grocery hauls are winning!
I miss Winco! No stores near me have “bulk” items. I miss being able to refill my spices for cheap… I miss buying just a “little” of a dry good for a meal that we don’t normally eat.
(also I have NEVER had a bad customer experience there! The cashiers have always been wonderful…. )
My Kroger has GREAT clearances here and there not every time. $1 Sargento mozzarella, $2# of frozen tilapia, etc. I would NoT have looked for this stuff without your video and love your reverse meal planning to BEAT inflation. I set a $400/ month budget for my family of 5 because I too love a challenge. Well done!!
RE Cauliflower, not sure if you knew this, but the green leaves on the side can be used similarly to cabbage. I know so many people that cut that part off and throw it away or compost it (which is great too), but you can do so much with it for yourself as well. When you’re trying to save money, it’s such a waste to not use that portion as food. Heck, you could even make sauerkraut or kimchi (both full of probiotics) or just use it in stir fry or add it to a bowl of ramen. So many uses!
Also, yes, i like cauliflower raw dipped in ranch as well lol! fellow cajun texan here
Winco is amazing. Thankful for a grocery store where there are always affordable prices. Weekly winco shopper over here❤
Syrup: 1 part brown sugar 1 part white sugar 1 part water , heat on stove top til simmering. Remove from heat then add splash of vanilla. Or use 2 parts white sugar 1 part water and add molasses. I've been doing this for 13 years and refuse to pay for a plastic bottle with corn syrup and water.
I am going to try it! We are syrup snobs in my house. A friend's family made their own syrup and we can't go back to the corn syrup now!
You have inspired and helped me stick to our grocery budget! My husband and I hit ALL the grocery stores and go directly to the discount bins to see if there’s anything we can incorporate into our meal plan. 1.99 Turkey breast down from 11.99 ea was out most recent win 😆♥️
I just bought a turkey breast for $1.99 lb. And half a ham for $.78 lb.
Another yummy use for nana…My sister in law brushed it with olive oil and salt (could have been garlic salt) and then warmed it in the oven (not really toasting it) it was so delish! Makes for a great side to regular dishes too.
I think I’ve been watching you for 3 to 4 years now. Just a guess, because I’ve lost all concept of time. Anyway, during this entire time I had been looking in my Kroger for the discount stuff. I never could find it. Being a night owl, I always shopped at night, a.k.a. after 9 PM. But six months ago I got a job where I was working overnights again. Which meant that (if I got out on time) I got out around 6:30 AM. Once I finally had a bit of cash, I started going from work directly to Kroger. And I finally found it! I finally found the discount, bakery items, discount meats, and discount salad mixes. I have yet to find any discount naan, but I stop there on the way home at least three times a week. My new chest freezer (7 cu ft) is nearly full of discount chicken, beef, bread, vegetables, broth, and even a little bit of guacamole. Every single thing in that freezer was no more than half price. So thank you for the many years of information! I’m pretty sure I’m set for the next year! 💙💙💙
Just in case it's been a minute since someone has been reminded... don't forget to ask the stores what day and time of the week they do such mark downs. This is so great.
@@yvonnepalmquist8676 That is a very good tip. Unfortunately, I did ask this at my store a few years back and their reply was, “Just… Whenever.“ But now I see that they do it all in the early morning at my store. I have yet to see a pattern in the days, though. 💙💙💙
I felt personally attacked when you said “it’s not winter anymore, it’s harassment” 😂 I live in Saskatchewan, Canada and it’s snowing today on April 2nd. I’m getting real tired of this crap!
Love that concept for prioritizing fruits and veggies! Thanks for sharing the podcast.
I often refer to Dr. Greger's daily dozen to optimize nutritional needs.
Loved seeing the organized, super-stocked fridge - eye candy! 😍
So good how you use money imo. The bread idea is a good one if you have the freezer space. Wise use of money imo.
"Hold me closer, tiny dancer..." 😂 Love it! Lol. I'm so excited for this video.. I love grocery shopping with Christine ❤️
I'm in Amarillo, Texas. No Winco, no discount bread store, no salvage grocery, no Aldi, no Costco. We do have a Sam's Club. We could use some grocery options!
I was curious how much protein I got in a day, so I made a list of everything I ate in a recent day. At the end of the day it totaled 99.1, which I thought was pretty good. Then I remembered a comment one of my doctors recently made. I had back surgery in Nov, then at my second post op appointment in December, the doctor said that I healed really well. With the number I came up with when I figured out how much I was getting in protein, I’m sure that was a big part of it. I used to work in a surgery clinic & the nurses always told the patients to be sure & eat lots of protein & it would help them heal & I typically try to do that myself if I’ve had surgery. It’s amazing what good nutrition does for our bodies.
I lived in Boise for 15 years and moved back to Michigan 1.5 years ago. I think the thing I miss the most is Winco!!!
BEST. STORE. EVER!!!
cauliflower with a dip, one of my favorites!
Good Sunday afternoon Frugal Fit Mom. What a haul. Everything looks absolutely delicious. Great job on organizing the pantry. I do believe my favorite item is that box of Korean Beef Bone Soup. 😊😊
I love the bulk section at my winco foods.I also love getting those mark downs at Fred Meyer.both are my go to store.
I looooove your channel. I am now hooked on clearance shopping. I went back and watched your old videos. Now I’m sad I have to wait for new ones, because I’m out of stuff to watch! 😆
👍🏼I love when you touch all the things!
I’m so jealous of your outlet and your healthy options
I can’t believe that primal kitchen price and jovial,,,, Wow!
My monthly grocery haul video is going up today too 😂. Mine is also pretty realistic for living in the PNW for a family of three. I love seeing bigger family’s hauls as well. Thanks Christine!
Christine! Oh my gosh - went to WinCo today and got 18 eggs for - wait for it…$1.64!!!!! In Carrollton TX. Insanity! Praise God. Haha
If you trim and stick your asparagus ends in some water and put them in the fridge standing up like a flower arrangement, they’ll last longer and be fresher.
Love both canned and frozen green beans! Totally can't go wrong!
Your food haul looks great, looks as though you got some great buys.
✋Canned green beans are the best. I like them straight out of the can. This is why I have to cook two cans at a time. The Italian style are my absolute favorite. I am growing them in my living room right now because I am ready for Spring whether WA is or not.
Awesome video Christine!
I love the frozen single meals because I live by myself and I avoid the occasional food waste by buying them. I do try to catch them when they’re on sale, like Kroger recently had the Smart Ones on sale for 99¢ as one of their weekly digital coupons. Another recent time I was in, I saw an in store deal on a different brand for 99¢.
I’m so jealous that you can find all those mark down stickers at Fred Meyer. Occasionally I can find discounted breads, but not often. I wish we’d get more discount store options here is Colorado.
Colorado here I pretty much get all my groceries at Walmart. The regular grocery stores are so expensive here! I wish we had more options too.
WOW, just wow !!
Wow! How lucky and blessed you are. I only get $116.00/month in food stamps because i have a disability and can't work. I can only spend $30/week for food and that doesn't cut it. So I've signed up for Fresh Express food distribution at a local church near me, and that helps a lot. There is so much foods for free, that i had to use one of their wagons to take out all the foods i picked out, to load in our truck. I am so very grateful and thankful there are programs like this to help out with the rising costs of foods. We are asked to take as many products as we want. The foods are delivered by the food bank. Now we will not go hungry because of this wonderful service. Really helps out my food stamps budget. 😊
Thank you so much for this video. Super helpful and well-presented. Your time and effort is most appreciated!
I love all the tips you show on your videos. Thank you!
Good to see all the cruciferous veggies!! So good for the gut! Love them raw too with ranch!!
Hello from PA!! Darn no Winco out here:(
How can they be good for the gut cause when I eat them I go into orbit
I’m binge watching your videos - honestly your videos are so helpful. You are down to earth and relatable.
Love your videos! I also go to several stores in a week to get the best product/prices. I may have missed it, but I’d appreciate a video on streaming service deals. Thanks for all you do.
Yes!!!! Love winco...the savings alone on bulk items!!!! All spices in bulk where you can just get a scoop....its phenomenal
It’s April 2 and I’m southeast of Edmonton Alberta Canada and there is still snow on the ground and the ground is still frozen so you’re not alone on the “man it’s cold here”
Girl! Your my idol 😂 I just started doing a freezer clean out myself but I need your mad skills to learn how to come up with the meals you do like what to put with what all your meals look so good? Keep on keeping on! Can’t wait to watch the next see what’s in store for us 😊
I would love those bite sized baking truffles. Great job finding deals!! 💙
You just eat those straight from the bag, right? 🤣Heck, they're cheaper than a candy bar.
Can you do more videos of what you would cook if you were getting items from a food bank? I love those videos.
Good advice thank you Sister!
Thank you we needed this
Always love ur videos. Thank u for doing a new one not focused on those shipped to ur house meal boxes
I freakin' love WinCo!!! And yes, the bulk section is awesome!
Loved this, I’m really bad at budgeting so this has been so helpful
I love good deals also. Every week I stop at our 3 local stores plus Kwik Star if they have a good ad. It is so nice to have a full pantry and to be able to shop the sale ads.
Yes egg prices have been going down here in my part of NC. I bought a dozen for $2.39 yesterday. Love your videos.
Great Harvest! I miss having one of those close by. Their breads are incredible!
🤚 Green Beans! I grow them! I can them! I feed them to everyone!
I want to see your meal prep with all this. Especially the salads.
Eggs are now the bargain price of 1.99/dozen at my Kroger affiliate and Walmart is about the same or a bit less. So proud of you for passing up the clearance protein at Fred Meyer! I know it took restraint!😂👏 🤚 to canned green beans (cook them with some bacon) but my dieting dog gets a can of green beans daily.
Great information I will definitely use your technique ❤🎉
Your hair looks very cute and summery! Enjoy a blessed day 😊😊😊
That 800 gram challenge sounds great to ensure your getting in your fruit, veggies and they even include legumes, beans and lentils. Thanks for sharing Christine!
You my dear are great!! You have lots of usable information and easy to follow advice!! Plus you are funny and I enjoy your humor!! God bless you!!
👍 Love me some canned green beans! The frozen ones are always squeaky!
We always hit bread clearance and our bread store as a rule but I always start paying extra attention around Easter and other holidays and long weekends. All the kids are home so cheap bread is a must and my kids LOVE a toast bar set up. We get bread, bagels English muffins and I get or make ( whatever is cheaper) specialty cream cheeses and such. Set out some fruit if I’m feeling bougie some scrambled or hard boiled eggs. One of our favorite fun breakfasts!
I am in Omaha for a quick getaway and there’s a Kroger affiliate here! I got a decent haul for $55 using those amazing digital coupons! I cannot tell you how I can girled when I found Bakers and how I geeked out over their app! Tomorrow we will be scouring the meat case looking for the reduced stickers! I cannot wait!!
🖐️ yesss all day!! lolz love your content by the way! 💕✨💥💯
I miss Fred Meyer. We haven’t had it for 18 years. Took me back to my childhood though.
March 4th is the only day that is also a command. You’re welcome 😂
I've been using that same "all out of" pad for YEARS. They are the best ever.
I love those 60 eggs containers. My daughter and husband's breakfast of choice is scrambled eggs and toast. My daughter also loves boiled eggs with Ramen noodles.
I shop at Winco all the time! Love it😊
finally someone that understands that meal planning from the start doesn't always work for small or large families. going backwards works better sometimes. however, there is 1 thing i will say, once a month shopping on food for a large family like mine....not happening....once a month on house hold items, Costco is the friend!
I grew up with canned veggies. No longer do canned peas, but still eat canned green beans and corn. Raw cauliflower is the bomb - I prefer it over cooked.
Favourite moment from any video ever "it's no longer winter, it's harassment " 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I wish I could do this. I have 7 kids and I just don't know how to hit up multiple stores. I check Albertsons every Wednesday when their ad comes out and shop winco for the rest.
OMG! We may have been in Vegas at the same time. My sister and I were there March 18-21 for my birthday. I hope you and your daughter had a great time. Thank you for these videos!
You Did Awesome ❤️ ! ! !
Cauliflower dipped in Ranch is one of my favorites!!!
I love cauliflower with ranch, so good.
✋A tsp of stevia and a Tbs of oil or butter, tsp of s n p just cover with water and let it cook down to a tsp of liquid stirring once or twice as you cook. yummy southern green beans!!!
I love the word skedaddle...is that how you spell it? lol I just googled it - it's the correct spelling!
Afterthought: yesterday was April 1st here in Spokane WA - it SNOWED in the morning! Fortunately the afternoon rain melted it.
Great hauls! Oregon and Washington state have winco is also.
I love your grey swimming jumper! (sweater I think you guys call it over the pond!)
I love cauliflower dipped in Ranch! 😋
Great video!
Eggs are finally under $4/dozen in my area. I didn’t realize WinCo was in California! I just looked it up and there’s none directly in my area, but there is one on my way back into town from where I usually travel so I may have to check it out next time I do a road trip!
