How to using Courseplay for grass work and custom field boundaries

  • In this video we take a look at recording a custom course to define a larger working area than a maps predefined field size. We also demonstrate the dynamic course generation capability of the advanced course generator within courseplay and finally we use courseplay to mow, ted, rake and bale a grass field.

    One tip when doing field with this much space around them is to skip headlands and just do up and down runs with turn on field deactivated. That way you can send of the next tractor with it's equipment sooner since they never cross paths. Headlands is really only useful when you have tight space, hedges, trees etc in close proximity to the field.

    Hey, man good video. helped me out remembering some things. Just one thing if you use courseplay in conjunction with follow me you can make silage bails following the windrow courseplay course... I've done if in FS17 & now FS19 works well...

    when you were trying to get the rake's course generated and it kept putting the starting point on the other side of the field, it's because you had the ending point set as the current vehicle position so it kept ending the course wherever you had the tractor

    Great vid, had no idea about modifying the size of the field. I frequently cut off L shapes and make them rectangular or square, and CP wants to do the original field. 👍

    Nice video one feature that might help out you can have them skip up top 3 lanes so they dont have to turn so sharp and back up as much if at all.

      Honestly i don't k now how well that would end up working out given how bales often shift when dropped out of a baler its one of those tasks that probably ends up being more trouble than its worth.

    How does field supply work? Does it just go get seeds or fert and come back ro the field? Or does it go out into the field and fill whatever is needed?

      That mod does not ring a bell. I honesty have not kept up with CP since these videos my general gameplay no longer involves its use. For me it became to inconsistent there for a while but supposedly its alot better.

    How do you fix the speed issues on combines ? Cause my combine header can let my combine go 12mph but my combine won’t go that speed it’ll 8 mph how do I fix that ?

      Joel, i don't expect to see it on the in game mod hub for a very long time. The 19 implementation is still a bit buggy and is under heavy development still. Those using it should do so under the understanding there using early access software in that all features may or may not fully work as expected.

    How would you use CoursePlay, with auto generation for mowing the grass around with field without actually going onto the field. i.e. if the field has a crop of corn but you wanted to mow the grass around the outside areas.
    Currently I do this but recording the whole exact course, I am just wondering if there was a way to just plan the outside course and exclude inner parts with Auto Gen?

    can you set a course to skip every other lane? say you want to use 2 tractors with the same tools on a field, can you do that?

    the tractors just sitting there doing nothing is a glitch in the new courseplay.....as soon as you jump in them they start working

      Ya, i discovered that after i was done recording that the act of jumping in the tractor caused it to move again. Well were are getting there slowly but surly. Not sure about others but I update the thing twice a day or just before I record any video using it.

      It's actually the helper stopping for a leak. They get a bit embarrassed when you jump in the tractor and bust them so they start again straight away

    "IF courseplay had a fault" hahahaha I busted up laughing at that one. But to make it better a few moments later the tractor backed up over the bale. Course play is a great idea but it's more trouble than it's worth.

    I like using corseplay, but every time I start it, even with just one tractor, Everything starts moving at a crawl, even other tractors not running courseplay. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this?

      Be sure you have the correct work mode selected.

    Is there any features to make this more balanced like adding a worker cost while vehicles are running or anything like that? or the cost of a GPS like in that GPS mod.

      Courseplay does have its own hired helper cost. or you can chose to not pay your workers with courseplay. You decide.

    if u said it im sorry i missed it but how did u get the white lines that show the course he will follow over the field? also a question unrelated to this video how do u pull up the log when ur starting a map up? thanks for all of ur assistance

      I definitely show how to have it show all the points in between the start and end but I do not know if it was this video. Likely one of the earlier videos in the play list. I cant recall the exact screens from memory. The log is enabling the dev console which I did a how to on very early on. might have been my first FS19 vid. Its a quick edit of a text file in your Farming Simulator 2019 folder.

    I did everything that was said when it comes to recording a course and setting the boundries for the desired field, but when I go to generate the loaded course it says"couldnt generate course. Try changing the setting or moving the vehicle"

      maybe make sure your in the right work mode or you have it set to start from vehicle location try setting it to start based on something else. Beyond that I dont know what to tell ya. I havent used courseplay in months myself.

      Try to put END point before the start point with +- 3m gap. I had same issue, but this helped. I just started the course with "work mode" and finished the course with 2m gap before the starting point. Then after i SAVED it I just pressed Generate course and it was fine ... Do a small field first for just a quick testing, one small round that doesnt even have to go around whole field just to test it. It might work with the START - END point gap. Dont overlap it and it should be fine.

      I believe there is some level of documentation on the courseplay github site. Its not out because it is still in development. This is a very complex script mod that takes quite a while to work out the kinks.

      That will be coming in a later video. I need to first make sure that functionality is working in the 19 version as not all functions from 17 are working in 19 at the moment.

      @@verios44 A multi harvester video with two harvesters and two overloaders to a single semi is coming once they fix a few things. Last time I tried i was getting lua errors when trying to set it up.

      If the bindings have changed they would still show in the F1 menu. It might be that its not activated properly? It also only comes up when your in a vehicle.

    Why is my account being charged by the AI worker? I was very cautious to say no when they asked me if I wanted to pay the worker at setup. If I'm using a wide sprayer like a 36m that account is going insanely down fast. It will charge me almost a $1,000.00 in one pass. Also the tank remains full and doesn't show used material. Is this a bug? I deleted CP from the mod folder and all CP files in the main FS 19 folder and reinstalled it again and it's still charging me to pay the worker. Have anyone experienced this?

      in your game settings it must have the hire helper set to buy fertilizer. courseplay is just like hiring a helper in that regard.

      He is correct. If your hired helper is set to buy items they will not use what you have before they start buying. It is probably so if you need to do touch up there is still some there for you to use.

      It can work but if you merge the field CP should pickup on that next time it scans the fields. Click the eye icon to see the blue line to check that it has picked up that change.

      They really are totally different the guidance steering is for helping you with straight lines and making work lanes spaced out evenly. Courseplay is just like having smarter hired helpers since you dont have to be in the vehicle for that while you do need to be in the vehicle for guidance steering

      @@FarmerKlein If they had an option to pay for the Courseplay that would be cool. (I feel cheaty when I don't pay the worker) Corsplay is realistic for Case autonomous tractor 😂

    Is there anyway we can have a tipper follow the combine n being filled simultaneously n then go n unload in the silo once full n get back to do the same? Is that possible?

      That should have been covered in part 4 the other day where i did a unload course. Where it detects the harvester and then empties the harvester and then once the trailer is full goes to the silo to empty and back again. Im waiting for CP to get a little further along to demonstrate a larger 2 harvesters, 2 overloaders and a semi as well as a fully automated silage harvest.

      @@FarmerKlein Yeah I saw that but that tractor course to unload in the silo. I'm not able to get that and sadly you did not show that in the video as well as to how to get a tipper trigger set for the unload. If you can make that. That'll be much help.

      @@zuhairali3284 Ah ok I see the issue. The course setup is the exact same as the refill courses. You start at the field edge or inside the field then drive to the silo and over the dump point. i slow down a bit when i go over the dump point and then loop back to the field and stop the course. then pick the second work mode for combi unload, pick the harvester vs letting it do it automatically and then it should work.

      i only used that button once when i was trying to force an unload at a placeable silo trigger in 17. CP is usually very good at detecting the trigger on its own.

      For what ever reason they moved that function to a different tab. It's the first tab where you would record a course now. I have not looked at a recent update or used cp in about a month though.

    Would square bales help with him running over bales

      Not really. sometimes they push the bales out of the way and sometimes they don't and instead climb over them. That is where you try to setup your course to keep the tractor from driving over where bales may be. or you are free to use a bale fork to collect the bales that may be in the way while the corseplay driver is running the baler.

      @@FarmerKlein I just tried the square baler on F11 Ravenport after courseplay harvested it. Worked near perfectly using the harvester course. Even tried the Arcusin trailer with a 2m offset to the left and worked well except that bales do not always fall directly behind the baler so it missed some. Unloading is still yet to be solved but it was just a quick first attempt. Thank you for your videos, I have found them very informative

      @@BearsTrains Great news. Ya it would be nice if the bales dropped more exactly as they seem to do fairly well in real life. but i think FS bales dont weight enough. but its nice ot use the same course to do multiple steps one after eachother.

      You need to slow down when entering a road or going through intersections and it should handle it fine. It senses if there's traffic and adjusts speed behind them but if you don't slow down in the situations I mentioned they can run out in front of traffic because it comes in to fast to have time to sense the crossing traffic.

      I wouldn't say its hard to use but it is alot to take in and not very well documented in game. So tutorials really help explain functionality.

      Courseplay wont be on the giants mod hub for a very long time. It is available in pubic beta over at Github. I have a link in the first video in the playlist on how to install the beta. Do note it is very much an early beta. there are plenty of things not working correctly yet.

    Just to pinpoint to everyone. CP is unabble to do multiple fields, As the devs said, it was never intended to do so. You made me try it for 6+ hours before I gave up and checked the whole google for solve the issue. It is unsolvable. If it works you are just lucky, because it's only random. Thanks for make me waste my time by lying...
