intro is De La Soul: 'No'. First juggle is an edit of Radiohead: 'Paper bag writer'. The vocal 'fresh, fresh...' at the end is from Mannie Fresh (lil Wayne) 'Go Dj'. The scratch beat is from Exit 15: 'Dangerous child' (instrumental). The 'I dont know how to read notes' is from The Blend Crafters: 'The way I think'. The next juggle is Exit 15: 'Neg'. The last part is Coldcut/Hextatic:'Timber'. Thanks a lot for all the views and the comments, great to see people enjoying it!
i watched this video a long time ago and couldnt find it again. scratching bulldog brought me here. im so happy. sickest turntablist performance ive ever seen
I love the musicality of the whole set. Not a bunch of tricks and juggles with no arrangement. This man is a musician and his instrument are 2 turntables and a mixer. Good shit!
you do realize serato is emulation software right? even if this guy was using serato, he would still need the skill to do this, serato doesn't do it for you. lol another idiot know it all wanna be DJ with no clue
championay serrato is emulation softwar but it can do things for you, making the dj the computer, like auto loops, and sync, who is telling who an idiot
I agree the so called DJs now with a simple vinyl set up no digital mixer see how many can even match a beat never mind play a flawless set. Erm none except us who have started from the bottom like my first decks were JB systems belt drive with numark mixer try n spin in with that set up I bet 1-2% of "DJs" could do it.
How many dj do it take to change a light bulb? It take wuh wuh wun-uh, wuh, wa-wa-wun-wun-uh, tuh tuh two, tuh ta-tuh two two-uh one-uh, uh-uh-aww-yeah rikkuh-rikkuh freshhhh.....
Yeah I'm a DJ of 18 yrs and was DJing at the venue Spennymoor in the 95 when 15yrs old playing Italian house/rave n this guy knows his stuff! I prefer technics1210s mk5s n a simple mixer. I started with belt drive JB systems(technics copy's) n a numark mixer(was forever greasing the x fader as it used to crackle but this guy can scratch n mix. Respect from DJ X-Tra north-east England
God damn!!! You're not human, I've seen good DJ's do their shit in my life, but this was flawless from second 1 down till da end! You didn't skip a quarter of a beat and da choice of tracks was pretty neat ! Used to DJ /Scratch back then with Technics before it got so sophisticated like this and now I see shit like that and it makes me feel like a kid trying to learn how to ride a bike! Ahahaha...Good Job man!
i never said i said it was meant to sound like shit. I said the techniques that he use are more important than the sound in this particular video. Nice try.
it's not a bad sounds, it's a funking good turntablism routine, and not a simple mix of track, it's very difficulte to reprodructing this, and it's a long time of work peace it's a good geek dj without serato, respect ! and excuse me for my English
***** He was saying that it's NOT just a simple mix. He was saying that it's difficult and takes hard work. You actually said what he was trying to say.
i´ve seen many scratch dj`s but you are definitely one of the most precise and accurate scratcher i`ve ever seen congratulations dude KEEP SPINNING THAT SHIT!!!
Returning after several years to this video and still have to say that for me it is one of the best routines I have ever seen and heard. Perfect balance of technique and musicality. And this video is almost 10 years old!! And regarding all the hater comments: If you can't do better, then just shut up!
its to mark the drums or what you would call cue points. the white lines in the middle of the record is like a hand on a clock to keep track of where all the sounds are at. and the other stickers are to individually mark each drum.
i cant make the mental leap towards the digital side of it.. flicking thru the vinyl and feeling that groove under my fingers is 90% of the love affair for me...
@WesAvia yeah, you can make them any color you want... even several colors in one vinyl... its just the way the vinyl pellets were colored originaly (or un-colored in this case).
No diss to ANY OF THE Dj's out there, I've been underground for 30 yrs and I've seen a lot of things but this kid here is probably the best live performer I have ever seen, he is awesome on the one's and two's raw. No shake.. These new cats. They are "shake" fin.
Absolutely true. This is what REAL DJing is. I'm really into electronic music and have been for a long time, but real DJs will always use vinyl. Actually the electronic music during the early 90s was mostly done without computers, it was analogue and turntables but that changed as computer became better. I'm a strong supporter of both digital and vinyl, but when it comes to DJing, if I see someone who only DJs with digital and thinks they're awesome, then I'll call them a tool.
When one considers the fact this magnificent DJ's wheels of steel are on top of a wonky table, circa 02:20, the masterpiece produced is even more remarkable. Salute to you sir, you are a pioneer of the turntablist movement.
2:49 same. I can't wait till I have to do something like this for home work. He doesn't need a laptop when he has the stickers on the records that mark certain places of the records.
This is a fantastic routine. Extremely tight and precise. That's some of the best beat juggling I've ever seen - you do a great job of keeping the beat without any drift. It's cool how you adjust the pitch faders in the middle of the routine too - dunno if I've ever seen that. Your clicks and crabs are sharp and crunchy as well. I'm extremely impressed. So well delivered.
If you are focused in scratching, you should see for mixers with the possibility to change the crossfader-curve or mixers with "cut"/"punch"-buttons. It should be also not too much big. You should check the "Ecler Nuo 2.0" or "GMR Arrow" or "Vestax PMC-06 Pro A". But for turntables it´s very difficult to give tips... just keep your hands from cheap turntables, you don´t gonna be lucky with. For any questions or recommendations, just send me a p.m. You´re welcome. Peace, ZS
Must have watched this video over dozen's of times since first finding it around 2007 I believe and never thought to comment. Don't usually watch videos that many times but this one keeps drawing me back, composition is great. Anytime your in the USA (Miami to be specific) and need to link up with some fellow heads (i-dee, craze, immortal, i.emerge), drop me a line. Hope your still doing your thing!
*Facepalm* He does not use any traditional turntables like these guys, he mainly just uses a macbook, some MIDI controllers, sound boards and banks of prerecorded sounds which he already produced in the studio. Now yes sometimes he does mix live on stage but he's a dubstep artist, that's what electronic/dance artists mainly do, produce their own music in studio the play it when on stage. He talentless on stage but he is very good offstage so to speak, producing, which is what he does
Yer, but changing gear is the fun part of driving... In the same way that scratching in and beat matching something with vynal control is the fun part of mixing.
I have witnessed a lot of good scratch d.j.'s over the years. I usually don't take to much notice cuz there are alot of really good turntablist out there, but i have to say your pretty awsome and i like your style.I love producing and mixing and i can't help occasionally scratching. Its my subjective opinion that you are freakin solid.Roll with it!!!
Nice set mate. I enjoyed it. I'm a Vinyl junkie but don't have a problem people using Timecoded vinyl or even MP3 controllers. Exact same skills required on the Ones and Twos. The only difference is you can make up your own samples and breaks compilations on 1 record without having to switch between a ton of records just for a scratch or 2 second break. It also means no skipping when scratching. Both of these are good things for scratch mixing wouldn't you say.
It´s "timber" from "Coldcut". Released in 1997 on "Ninja Tune", you can find it on the LP "Let us play". The track start at 4:19 in the video, but change a lot and is filled with cuts and beat-scratches. But take care, cause on the "Atomic-beats"-EP, the version is differrent. I hope, this helps you... Greetz, ZS

Been listening to this for years it's kind of insane. I still go back
Me 2 Man

djtuki THANK YOU MATE, BEEN WAITING FOR THAT FOR EIGHT YEARS. Hope your career is doing good, still one of the best scratch sessions I have seen!
djtuki And what's the guitar from 2:16 ?
djtuki Hey man i watched this and it inspired me to get my first set of decks and get into turntablism. Thanks for the track list!
+Mihai Sictir Ha,ha that is from Funkadelic, on the album Maggot Brain, cant remember the track title but the whole album is the message. Nice 1
i watched this video a long time ago and couldnt find it again. scratching bulldog brought me here. im so happy. sickest turntablist performance ive ever seen

So this is the 22. December 2020. I still revisit this from time to time, and I love it everytime!
Same
This is original djing without serato and computers. some of you would not know what to do with two vinyls and a mixer.
you do realize serato is emulation software right? even if this guy was using serato, he would still need the skill to do this, serato doesn't do it for you. lol another idiot know it all wanna be DJ with no clue
championay I've been djing for 10 years you dumb ass. So learn your fundamentals before responding
championay serrato is emulation softwar but it can do things for you, making the dj the computer, like auto loops, and sync, who is telling who an idiot

I watched it back then and still watching today dopest set to date in my opinion big cheese
Holy shit real DJ's still exist......awesomeness.
Because some things are old, and some are timeless. I scratch with normal vinyls too. You can't recreate that sound, and especially the feel of it.
Too fucking right
DJ MuzeMaster Fuck yeah man! Ya got dat right!
well as far as traveling goes... 1/3 of the time i sail to get where im going soooooo you may just be a fake traveler!
***** hahahahaha got me there......oops sorry, but not really! (good come back bro)
I know he's marked the records but legit, a headphoneless mix like this takes so much skill it hurts a little. So many props....
Yeah I'm a DJ of 18 yrs and was DJing at the venue Spennymoor in the 95 when 15yrs old playing Italian house/rave n this guy knows his stuff! I prefer technics1210s mk5s n a simple mixer. Wasn't expecting much when I clicked on this.
Deserves more views.

I think I've watched this a dozen times. The part I like the most starts at 02:48. "I don't know how to read music." lol
Classic bit!
What's the name of that song?(:
I wish I knew.
did you find that sample
Idris Salaam
Now above in comments ;-) Cheers
People today won't appreciate this. He is a real DJ. Not many out there in this day in age.
So it took me 16 years to see this. I'm a little slow, but this piece of work is priceless. Not everyone can appreciate the hard work involved.
He makes it look so easy...
Hey, this person and many other people invest their lives to become good at this, if you don't appreciate it, go away.
That's word!
Holy frijole, love that beat at the end. Disgusting set! And how cool do you have to be until you can get your own clear vinyls? Fresh~!
Holy crap, I think that's the first time I've ever seen a battle DJ use the Master Volume
this man is a world champ for a reason. One of my favorite scratching videos!
Thats some real skill. (old skool)
Skool lol
This sounds so bad. Does people actually listen to something like this?
With their ears. You're watching a video of a guy scratching so what did you expect? It's not about the sound as much as it's about the technique.
i never said i said it was meant to sound like shit. I said the techniques that he use are more important than the sound in this particular video. Nice try.
WOW you must hate turntables or funky beats and cuts or some shit this dude is incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it's not a bad sounds, it's a funking good turntablism routine, and not a simple mix of track, it's very difficulte to reprodructing this, and it's a long time of work
peace
it's a good geek dj without serato, respect ! and excuse me for my English
***** He was saying that it's NOT just a simple mix. He was saying that it's difficult and takes hard work. You actually said what he was trying to say.
Beat juggling is so hard but this man does it with precision
Juggling like a madman! Been watchin' this since you posted it Tuki, still holds up.
i´ve seen many scratch dj`s but you are definitely one of the most precise and accurate scratcher i`ve ever seen congratulations dude KEEP SPINNING THAT SHIT!!!
this is some incredible work.. its not everyday you find some one that good. :)
Possibly the best mix I ever herd
How did I only find this in 2021!
CZcams finally recommended correctly!

2:55 oh man....fukn genius. "And then I might go chickchickchicklakadyklakadakboomboom SNAAP" Very creative sham
its to mark the drums or what you would call cue points. the white lines in the middle of the record is like a hand on a clock to keep track of where all the sounds are at. and the other stickers are to individually mark each drum.
This guy made me loose my head.... So fresh and clean... Almost looks and sounds unreal.... Sick
As a guitarist, I can definitely appreciate the dexterity and hand-eye coordination at work here. My self esteem = Zilch.
i cant make the mental leap towards the digital side of it.. flicking thru the vinyl and feeling that groove under my fingers is 90% of the love affair for me...
The01RAS. The sample is from the Coldcut track Timber. They released as a single and on the (fantastic) Let Us Play album.
ive listened to this so much yet never get bored one of the greatest DJ's this world has ever seen keep spinning !!!!!!!!!!!!!
it really was.i thought about it again at the end of the vid and still made me chuckle again
@WesAvia yeah, you can make them any color you want... even several colors in one vinyl... its just the way the vinyl pellets were colored originaly (or un-colored in this case).
been watching this for 8 years, still love it! keep it up man!
transiituion at 3:14 was so amazing. he was just on point with that
Such a clean set, good job bro. I would love to hear one of your mixes!
inspirational, i could listen to you for hours.
you can tell someone’s good when they start beat juggling like 2 measures in
No diss to ANY OF THE Dj's out there, I've been underground for 30 yrs and I've seen a lot of things but this kid here is probably the best live performer I have ever seen, he is awesome on the one's and two's raw. No shake.. These new cats. They are "shake" fin.
1:39, starts sounding like prelude to dubstep.
To say this is a good set is the umderset of the world
The spinning discs with the red, white and black geometric shapes remind me of Lissitzky.
The track most people are looking for is 'Timber' by Coldcut and Hexstatic on Ninja Tune. It's an oldie

saw this vid a while ago and i’ve spend hours trying to find it again. i’ve finally found it.
gotta love the sound of vinyls.
2:49 same. I can't wait till I have to do something like this for home work. He doesn't need a laptop when he has the stickers on the records that mark certain places of the records.
3:08 ! PURE AWESOMENESS !

one of the first scratching sessions where the actual scratching sounded like a beat/song. loved this
That ending is perfect.
coldcut and hexstatic - timber, crackin track. cut brilliantly in this
hats off to you mate true master wicked to see old school two deck cutting done so well
embee
Love that hand up on freash, knowing he got the scratch game 👏👏👏👏👏
Congrats. Not only are people still commenting on this video 6 years later, but you've done solid work in it.

Haha it looked like animated gifs. Your start-stop was so fun to watch
.....a rare breed of DJ! awesome!
It's probably the cleanest turntablism routine I've seen ever
he's gone mad!! you've got mad skills bro
Nice bit of 'Timber' thrown in for good measure, perfect ending to a set.
2.11-2.13 was so tight it looked like the video was just being replayed a few times....brilliant hahaha
this is turntable wizardry … magic !
You really know what you're doing !

that is some legit skill especially without the headphones, he has so many great ideas and i wish i could do this but i think its too expensive
Nice implemtation of the jazzy pops samples dope over all keep choppin we gota keep it alive
This whole set is killin it but the scratching at 4:56 is BOMB! Very fast fingers lol Thanks for posting!
"I don't know how to read music, I don't know nothin' about notes, all I know is 1,2,3,4....1,2,3,4..." who say this?!
You can get second hand technics, there were alot of them made, so they do actually go for a relatively reasonable price.
Want to give you a really good compliment... best one I can think of is "Coldcut would be happy seeing this."
tracks are quality !! i think its one of best on here !!! top man tu-ki
For those of you who don't understand how DJing works, hate to shatter the illusion but that tape is doing 90% of the work!!!!

The real-life DJ Hero
I'm almost sure I went to college with this guy in the late 90's. In room 420 we listened to the scratch pickles. Nate???
The embodiment of turntablism. Perfection
2006 and the quality is this good

i still to this day don't understand the concept of scratching....but im facinatd by it.
@DjKahle Except they aren't just visual markers. They are placed in exactly the right place so that the spinback will never miscue, and the needle will always drop wherever he wants them too. It's an old trick and still requires some skill to pull off, but it's a trick nonetheless and can be done by anyone.
If you were a real DJ you would know that.
How do people doing mixing call themselves then?
"People-trying-to-mix-music-without-Turntables"?
"Pttommwt"
._.
But you got a point. He is a MASTER!
PURO ANÁLOGO PAPA!
El epitoma de la EDM
Y así es chiquillos, como comenzó la era de la música digital
Wasn't too sure to start with...then listened again, skills bah.
This is still fire in 2024
Scratching like you have Fleas! I took off my flea collar so I can start scratching like that =P
