Wouldn't mind having a go at one of these at some point, once I have an engine that actually needs one. Your video will be a good reference. Nice work on that cap! gary
It was a nice change from all the precision work. No drawing, no spec - just some odds & sods of brass and make it up as you go along. I have no idea whether it will actually work!
Looking good Craig, I wish I'd seen this earlier as I've just bought one on ebay for my vertical engine. I did think of making one but the one I bought was a decent price so I thought I'd give it a try. I look forward to seeing your engine running on the hot stuff.
@@no23mk2 I like the way you made the fluted edge around the cover, I've always used knurling in the past to achieve a grip surface but your method is much more attractive.
@@no23mk2 I don't do enough knurling to get good at it, I find that one day its perfect then the next time its terrible. I can't seem to get consistent results
Thank you Maria, I wish I could take on commissions - I work full time and this is purely my pastime. Perhaps when the 9F is finished I may consider taking work on? Thanks for your interest. Cheers Craig
Nicely done! I'm glad I'm not the only one who forgets to tight things or doesn't tighten them enough.
Ha - Cheers mate.
glad to see i am not the only one who has issues with tightening collets lol
Ha - Me too!
Very interesting. Looking forward to seeing Part 2.
Cheers
Andrew
Thanks Andrew.
Fascinating work there. Looking forwards to Part 2.
Thanks Dave
Thanks for sharing. I really appreciate your videos.
Thank you.

@@no23mk2 It's fun to work intuitively sometimes!
Great work but don't get distracted from the main loco build. I am looking forward to seeing the 9F under steam.
Ha - Don't worry - I'm already back on the 9F.

Thanks Peter, This made a change from working on the loco - a pleasant distraction - something that can actually be completed in a short time!

I was going to knurl them, but my knurl rig is rubbish. So did it this way instead.

....there's a wobble in your head-stock spindle or your collet holder's buggered!
Nice bit of work.
Can I ask, Do you accept commissions ?

Thanks. I understand. Could I ask how long that would likely be ?
I estimate something around five years. What do you have in mind? email no23mkii@gmail.com
Plan ???
Sorry no plan - It came straight out of my head!
G’day Mate terrific video sent you an email can you let me know if you got it thanks John
Cheers John, no e-mail at this end.....
Is b*lol***s an engineering term I should know ? Lol
Oh Yes! One of many choice words in engineering workshop language....
Think I'm gonna fit in the engineering community perfectly then lol
Doubleboost has an encyclopaedic knowledge of them.
