  • A biopic about a World War 2 operation which had the goal of eliminating Hitler's third in command, SS General Reinhard Heydrich. Does this film make it out alive by the end, or is it killed on sight? Find out in Nick Pell's review.

We had military forces. Before WW2 we were one of the most industrially advanced countries in Europe, we call that period: The first republic. UK and France betrayed us. And we did not defend in fear of nazis destroying our cities

Wait wait wait my man.... You are little bit mixing up history here.... 1.) Hitler only asked for bordering regions (Sudetenland) of Czechoslovakia because they were predominantly populated by Germans and so he tryed to justify his calim over this territory on this basis2) in 1938/39 Germany was not as powerful as later in war, Us, Czechoslovaks, we had defense pact with French as well as Soviets, we had about half the force germans had at their disposal some 24 divisons compared to Germans 40 something. We had very well equiped army for that time period and before Munich Agreement was passed the country went to full mobilisation which actually scared Nazi generals and they were advising Hitler, that in case the diplomatic solutions fails, not to attack and wait few more months to build up the Nazi warmachine.3.) The bordering Region of Czechoslovakia was place where most of static defences were bulit since 1935 - imagine sort of Maginot line
4.) Chamberlain who was at the time prime minister of Britain was the one who was pushing the most for handing over Sudetenland to Germans as he wanted to evade the war at all costs, furthermore he was fueled by his believe in superiority of British people and he considered some "radnom" Central European country not worth of going in to war over (French were allied with british in case French would help Czechs they would call for help the British which Chamberlain didn't want to happen).5. So they came up with the plan, give part of foreing country to Hitler to satisfy his thirst and the war is not going to happen, So Chamberlain, Daladier, Hitler, Mussoliny signed the Munich treaty (locally known as Munich dictat, Munich betrayal, Decision about us without us) So in a nutshell, our very own allies sold us to Germans for the fake prospect of peace, Chamberalin was happy (a peace for our time) Daladier not so much and Hitler and Mussoliny were wery happy6.) Several months later Nazis marched into what had remained of Czechoslovakia and founded the protectorate, essentially occupying the remaining territory, which was against the Munich agreement.... Nobody cared, it took invasion of Poland to actually start the war7.) Allies had plenty of opportunities to stop Germans, Germans were breaking the treaty of Versailes left and right since the 1933 when Hitler took over... They were allowed to only have certain ammount of soliders and tanks... But they had more, nobody cared... They were forbidden to have airforce alltogether, They were happilly building airforce like there was no tomorrow, nobody cared, They were forbidden to have army in Rheinland, they marched there with their army and again nobody cared. Appeasement....8.) Because allies enabled Hitler to occupy Czechoslovakia they gave him one of the biggest production facilites in Europe (Czechoslovakia was heart of industry in Austrian-Hungarian empire), this further allowed Nazis to build their warmachine to astronomical proportions9.) Nazi generals were also afraid to attack Czechoslovakia because they feared the prospect of starting a war on two fronts, which eventually happened anyways. If our allies were determined to stop Hitler then and there we could have, combined might of Russia, Czechoslovakia, France and Britain would have swept the Nazi army like an annoying insect. Our people were ready for war, they were ready to die for their country... But they were forced to tuck tail between their legs and watch as Nazies marched in without firing single bullet. The shortsighteness of this policy of appeasement allowed Hitler to grow stronger and to cause one of the worst events in history of mankind

Thanks for the review. I am a history buff. Was wondering if I should see it. It seems like a worthy movie.

Go see it if you are a history buff. It is true to history down to the details. I was not disappointed. 5 stars!

*The Allies didn't have a way to stop them.*
You left out that adorable part where Czechoslovakia was actively served to Hitler on a silver platter by the Allies on account of "meh, who cares about these hicks anyway" (or "How horrible, fantastic, incredible it is that we should be digging trenches and trying on gas-masks here because of a quarrel in a far away country between people of whom we know nothing." I always get the two mixed up.)
