I was 16, with my friend Lynda. I waited for hours to be sure I was in the front row where I could see him. He had a quallity where all the sun in the sky seemed to focus on him, and everything else grew dim, and the light came back from him, to all of us.Extraordinary man. Speaking words of meaning, not something a spin doctor gave him to say. He was and is my hero.

I was there on the day he made that speech. He was extraordinary. He was making that train whistle stop tour to all the small steel worker towns along the rivers to thank them for supporting him so strongly in the election.
What a man. How many politicians today would make a special trip to thank the little people who had elected him. What a loss.

John loved Women, I say what normal Man doesn't ? one fact that will be embedded in our history it was John & Bob who literally saved the world from nuclear destruction in "62" I never heard a Politician speak like him, when he talked, you couldn't help but be fascinated by the beauty and substance of his message.

Yes, that's right. There was a very strong Copperhead element in the Democratic party then which favored reconciliation with the South and a laissez-faire attitude towards slavery. "What a great speech?" No, not really. It was merely a mid-term rally outside of Pittsburgh for Joe Clark (who was running for re-election as PA Senator, and would win) and for Richardson Dilworth (who was running a failed race for Governor of PA & had resigned several months earlier as Mayor of Philadelphia). This speech is basically your typical "the Republican Party is bad" and support for these candidates. What's SUPER interesting is that the VERY NEXT DAY, the infamous U2 spyplane photos of Russian missiles in Cuba would be taken. Within 48 hours of this recording being made, Kennedy would be facing one of the critical incidents that would define not only his administration but of the Sixties Cold War.
