On the same day that we recorded the Postmodern Jukebox version of Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill," Sweet Megg also recorded a much older song with us: the 1934 Ray Noble / Al Bowlly hit, "Midnight, The Stars and You," which was later famously used by Stanley Kubrick in the 1980 film, "The Shining." Enjoy!

"Good Evening, Mr. Torrence."
I really love this old 1930s music.
Loverly - a song that has helped to bring Al Bowlly and Ray Noble out of the shadows - this version is wonderful
Oh man. Totally transported to the 1920s and 1930s at the first note. AMAZING!
What a great song, Al bowlly with her voice makes her even more magnificent. ♥️
Al Bowlly was a guy actually, the song is just credited to him, sung by someone else.
@@GenericGunslinger No; in the popular recording of this song you are hearing Al Bowlly's vocal and Ray Noble's orchestra. Seems you haven't heard any of Al's other recordings, otherwise you would recognize his very distinctive voice.
Sweet Megg infuses this 90 year old song with sweet passion. Wonderful arrangement, as usual.
That instrumental break was divine!
Gosh, this is one of my favorite 30's songs.
Wasn’t it written in the 80s?
Nope. Written in the 30s as was the recording. Al himself was dead by the time the film rolled around.
Visually stunning. I like how the sapphire blue dress "pops" against the bright white piano and the muted white walls. Not sure how to describe it but the whole set, the outfits, and the lighting are all exceptionally pleasing to the eye. Oh and I really liked the music too!
woah this was really good.
1923 is when that ballroom 4th of july shot was taken, pretty fitting to post it this year.
not 1921 like the movie says.
Brilliant! Enchanting, sexy, sultry, svelte ... and a great song too. Meg is made for Al Bowly songs.
Sweet Megg has such a smoooooooth voice
Playing yesterday's hits in yesterday's style! Jacob gets the vibe perfectly
Man oh man.... Meg is sweet. ❤
Sweet Megg 🤗 please join the PMJ tour 👏👍👏
Dreamy! Could listen to all of you all day...
Just as every old song that we love the arrangement for, the words are often forgotten. Thank you for bringing it all back.
Gorgeous, sophisticated, apparently effortless - what talent - and what more could you possibly ask for
This was very well done. Hats off to everyone involved with this.
❤️🖤💛
Love this cover of my favorite Al Bowlly track! Sweet Megg and everyone here did a phenomenal job with this!!
Oh this is my favourite rendition of this song now! Must be on my 30th listen of this 🤗❤️🏚️
It was a night in 1921
I just remember we were there
Your smile... Sweet as an apple pie
Your eyes, black as darkness
I still play the song we use to dance
It will never be a burning memory
But it will always be a burning feeling... The flames in my heart will never end and you will always be my heartache.
So lovely, and a nice tight balanced sound. Every piece can pop out for a bit and twirl, and then right back into the mix. Most importantly, smiles make music better, every time.
Beautiful! Congrats to all and especially Thai Long Ly for making this performance sound like a meticulously produced studio recording.
I would love to hear more “Bradlee’d” standards in the future 😍
Oh, how I love this!
Me, too, Sunday! 👍👏🎉
Never saw The Shining. Sounds like a good song. Good job.
The song had a short segment in "Ready Player One" as well (in the piece where they featured "The Shining", all the zombies dancing in mid-air)
I like everything about this. Well done PMJ!
I love this song. GREAT version, too. Thank you.
Lovely and beautiful!
Excellent rendition of this song. I think of Jack Torrence drinking his make believe "hair of the dog" and swaying to the groove.
Midnight is bewitching, and so is this! 💯 Wraps around like a cozy blanket! LOVE it! 👍💖🎶
Hiya Bettyblock! Was just thinking I haven't seen from you in ages! You've hit the proverbial nail on the head though. A definite warming quality to this recording!
This is ostentatiously gorgeous, but seeing a Scott Bradlee joint that doesn't have the PMJ brand is giving me ✨️questions ✨️
It's because it's an old song played in the original style, Scott only uses the PMJ brand for the reimagined modern pop covers.
There's nothing postmodern about playing a cover of an old song in an old style - doesn't fit in the pmj wheelhouse
Pure Human Quality ❤️
Her voice is just making me dream
I never knew a song from The Shining Soundtrack could be made this charming!
It's not "From" The Shining. It's *IN* The Shining.
I love the Episcopal Shield! 😉
Splendid!!!!
Iv watched about 10 seconds and I already love it
Love*

Beautiful!
Maravilhosa, Scott!
Parabéns!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I just got done watching the movie for the first time and I recognised the song immediately but couldn't place it till the lyrics started! But it was this cover!
Excellent arrangement and delightful singing. Megg has a voice that's made for this style of music.
IMHO the quality of this song (circa 1934) only serves to enforce my opinion that GOOD music is immortal! Nice job one & all...
So sweet
Delightful...
Gorgeous voice 🥰
Very nice recording!
Awesome!!!!!!
I love this movie i really enjoyed this song sounds so smooth and seems like something that would be played on the fancy resort during that time era 👻
Gob-smackingly perfect!!!
Fantastic!!!. Bravo!!!
Loved it
Sounds great!
Just saw this video promoting a couple concerts in Colorado next month. I'm hoping maybe this is hinting that Sweet Megg might be joining the tour for some shows. That would be wonderful!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wonderful cover once again!
Perfect 👍
Sublime!
💫💖 Beautiful 💖💫
Most excellent. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Sweet Megg sings Al Bowlly...I just died!
Smooth and sweet, Sweet Megg.
Another beautiful Sweet Meg!
Großartig!
Piękne wykonanie 🙏🤗💕
Браво!!!👏👏👏 Просто потрясающе!!!👍👍👍
Nice!
Adorável!!
Jack Torrance: You WERE the caretaker here, Mr. Grady.
Delbert Grady: No sir, YOU are the caretaker. You've always been the caretaker. I ought to know: I've always been here.
Incredible cover tbh ❤️🩹
Damn!
Bravo
I love it when this song plays during the fish and goose soiree
I'm still a fan. Especially of Meg.
Nice job Megg and Thor.
SWEET MEGG OUR QUEEN
A wonderful cover. Would have been more exciting if a guy ran across the back of the band whipping around an axe, but hey we all can't be at the Overlook am I right.
Anything you say, Lloyd, anything you say....
yeeeEEEEAAAAAAHHHH
👍👍👍
Yeah! Django!!!
I love u Grace Kelly 🥀🌹
좋아하는 곡이에요! 무드있네요👍
Hi, I really love this arrangement. Is it possible to request for the chord progression of this version? Thank you so much
Beautiful, I really like it.
The band is green screened in right ? Proportionally everything is off from the foreground . When scaled the mid and background are either off scale or she is a Beautiful Amazonian giant lol
Al Bowlly had a lot of good songs. Stanley Kubrick movies have good soundtracks.
This version completely makes me forget what a horrifying movie it was involved in 🤣🥰
I thought that dude was really short.
Nice patsy Klein kind of voice
Scott: buy some new socks that’ll stay up. You can afford to splurge.
If you can't splurge on socks, what can you splurge on?
Interesting this is not part of the PMJ label. Are we back to Scott Bradlee Loves Ya brand?
I’m confused. The start of the video has a Scott Bradlee logo, but the video info shows this video is archived with the PMJ files. Huh?
Im unfamiliar with this band, who is the guitarist?
It's almost bizarre to see Scesney just standing there and playing with wacky entrance or gag at all.
This one belongs into the next MaxPayne game....
Overlook hotel...
