  • Hey! Welcome to tutorial #50, this time about glitching your drum loops with granular synthesis and a bunch of extra effects!
I recently noticed there hasn't been a drum tutorial for a while now, so now we have one :))
In the video I go briefly over a few important parameters in a granulizer and how they can alter your drums and then over a few effects you can add to your granulized loops.
These effects include distortion, compression, bit crushing, grain delay, delay & pitch shifting and they are also free (except for fruity delay & little alterboy) so be sure to check them out!
If there's a subject/sound you want me to cover in one of my future tutorials let me know in the comments below ;)
    Enjoy!

Idea for future vid: Koan Sound - Vivid . The smooth underwater granular sounds at 0:45 of that track :)

man u should do some tutorials attempt to sound like certain artists it would be awesome

Yeah it definitely can be fun sometimes, it's just that sometimes it's not that easy getting close enough to a sound another artist designed.. But when I do get close enough I upload vids like this :)

Amazing tutorial as always! Have you gotten your hands on Pigments 2?

Thanks man! I actually haven't tried pigments out, what are your thoughts about it?

Since I’m still learning sound design, i find the animated modulation helps a ton. I think the presets are some of the best out of any synth, and the new granular engine allows you to morph between multiple samples! Right now massive X is still my go-to since i love how easy it is to make weird sounds, but i think pigments will take that place in time

Yeah having animated synths is definitely very helpful to understand what's going on inside the synth :)
Massive X definitely is easy to get interesting sounds with but the lack of animation can be a bit difficult to understand sometimes.
Tbh a granular engine where you can blend two different samples sounds really interesting! I'll check it out!
