  • I took my faithful fishing car to the Ned Kelly tree for it's final off road adventure. I visited the historical grave, the Ned Kelly tree and Stringybark Creek camp site before heading up the road to Tolmie where it was snowing quite heavily.

  • @ziongite
    @ziongite Před 2 lety

    Yeah, having 2 cars for different purposes seems cool originally, but then you have to have 2 separate registrations, insurance, and more overall parts that might need repairing.
    I think a single car that has 4WD ability that can partly fit both roles is the best. For example a Land Cruiser are the best workhorses, however the reality is that the average person going to bush tracks and such doesn't need something that large and powerful, and so the Land Cruiser wouldn't fit both roles, it's role is all on one side (doing work, rough roads, towing stuff etc), it's not really good for just using it to drive about in town however.
    For me, I tend to find things like a second hand 4WD rav4 does the trick. Still made by the 4WD experts of Toyota, but for a more typical usage, small enough to be good on fuel, but also large enough that you can put your stuff in there and actually go on a 4WD track. Why I opt for second hand cars is because I don't want to always have to be thinking about accidentally damaging it, if it's second hand and for example only cost me 15k or something, I won't be nervous if I put a scratch on it. If it's brand new and is like nearly 40k, I will be too worried to even take it on most tracks.

    Mate, you gotta remember that back in 93 the price of petrol wasn't that huge so the petrol guzzler it is now wasn't really that noticeable or a worry back then. What you should've done was join our facebook forum for the Jackaroo and there's plenty of people on there to help you out with mechanics, parts and info. It would be a shame to let the ol'gurl go.

    • @robbiefishing

      Thanks mate. Isn't it just amazing. I believe that there are 2 reasons. 1 because it hits the ground a lot more gently, and doesn't splash, and the other because the snow actually absorbs the sounds, a bit like sound proofing in a studio.
