I’m 15, black, and about to get my learner’s permit to drive. I’m excited, but it hit real hard when my mom said: “I’m happy that you’re gonna start driving soon. But terrified about what might happen once you go out there alone.” The same thing happened when I hit my growth spurt. She sat me down and started saying that I better watch how I act cause people will start seeing me as a threat. It’s so sad that every time I hit a milestone in growth there’s baggage that comes with it.

I thought that it was the perfect fit, because Lovecrafts stories almost always have this sense of perpetual danger, like there is something lurking that can get you at any moment, and it's so big and hungry that the moment it attacks, that's it - you're done.
It's bad knowing that that was life for millions of people during the segregation.

In fact someone has been using her and her people for a very long time by manipulating them with victimhood. It's so easy to buy into the BS that is being peddled by a professional hate profiteer like Noah, especially when he is provided a massive platform and unlimited funding to do it. This factoid alone, should be of very serious concern and bringing up serious questions to everyone. But how the questioners ask the real questions when the gameshow is controlled by the hate profiteers?

Just had the talk again with my 15 yo son this morning. He's half black, half hispanic, and all of 6ft 5in tall. Our own white neighbors called the cops on him when he took the trash to the street late one evening. Yes, they showed up with hands on holsters asking for proof that he was a child and that we live in the predominantly caucasian neighborhood.
We have many talks with him and our girls. I'm in education and my hubby is a correctional Sgt. He has to learn to think ahead of the situation and be prepared to respond in ways that ensure he can remain alive by staying calm, non-threatening and with precision of language. I feel often we have to train ourselves to interact safely with those charged with protecting us.
That is a loaded statement but if you don't help them comprehend these truths, trust that there's a high likelihood that an officers weapon will be unloaded on our black males, young and old.

in the 1990's, my big burly vietnam vet black husband came home from the grocery store one day looking devastated, sat down with head in hands, and broke down sobbing. he finally got it out: he had just turned down an isle, noted a cart about halfway down, and then saw a very old, very frail white lady at the other end of the isle, looking scared and watching him as she tried to run as best she could to her cart, where he saw that her purse was sitting. he stopped, stunned, confused at first, then just left our groceries in the store and came home. he kept repeating as he cried "i went to war for her, doesn't she know that i would die for her." i have rarely been more devastated in my life.
off topic somewhat i know, and i have my share of police contact stories, involving my husband, his dad, our son, and do many others. but i just had to add that these are the black men that our 'justice' sytem is so intent on demolishing.

When my Family and I (white, male, European) visited america a few years ago, a week before the flight my parents sat me and my siblings down to give us "The Talk" about how to behave around the police. Things like don't move quickly, be polite, keep your hands where the officer can see them, don't turn away from the officer, do exactly as you're instructed and don't ever do anything without asking. Quite honestly I was shocked it never occured to me that one needs rules on how to interact with the police.

"Simon Says" shows why there should never be a version where you are killed when you make a mistake. People unintentionally make mistakes all the time, even when they are trying to comply with instructions. If people could continuously follow instructions without error there would be no "simon says" game. If everytime someone made an unintentional mistake they were killed then virtually no one would be alive.

I sort of had that talk with my son (we are both white) when he was high school age. He liked wearing a duster, but noticed he got followed and watched in stores because of it. He liked the coat for the sci-fi/gaming, not Columbine, references... Our talk was simple, I reminded him that his choices have consequences - and at least he can change his coat. Many of his friends get much worse treatment just for the color of their skin.

Exactly. We need action and we can start by sharing thos video and start having The Talk about DWB: Driving While Black. We need a change in points of views.

Speak to members of your community. Share this video. We have to start by changing points of views. Did you know about The Talk before this video? I know my caucasian coworker didn't know about until I shared that my parents had to have this particular talk with me and my siblings when we were very young. Whereas the only Talk he or his brother, who was also a coworker, will have with their nephews/sons, respectively, will be the birds/bees and how to treat girls talk.

I am white. It’s not only saddens me, but it also makes me furious when I think about how black parents have to have “ the talk”with their children! There should not be any necessity for black parents to do so with their children! It’s their country as well! This is so warped! So much has to change in this country! It is perverse that black parents have to have this kind of “talk” with their children. So much has a change in this country if we all, as a whole nation, want to succeed even more!!!!
