I always thought The Beach Boys harmonies were otherworldly and still do, but then I went back and discovered The Everly Brothers. They were perfection.
The Everly Brothers and Beach Boys were the soundtrack of my teens. Couldn’t have been any better.
There is a snippet of the Everly Brothers and the Beach Boys singing "Don't Worry Baby" here on CZcams that makes me wanna cry it's so sweet. I wish they had done a bit more together. The Everly Brothers were the First and the best ... they perfected the art of harmony.
Soundtrack of my youth 🎼🖤
Philip I'm so glad you said that because that IS the perfect way to describe the Beach Boys especially at the height of their powers in late 60s and early 70s.
But I have never listened to the Everly Brothers so to hear they beat the BBs makes me want to discover their magic. Which I will do.
I still can't take it in that both of the Everlys are gone. But they will live on in our hearts. We love you, Phil and Don. You will never be forgotten.
There never were before nor will there ever be two voices with such perfect harmony as Phil and Don Everly. They were a treasure and will never be forgotten.
They're so humble, don't grandstand, just say a few words of appreciation, and they're off the stage. Love them.
Neil young appears to be so happy to be introducing the Everly Brothers, I loved the little jig he did just before they came out. ❤️❤️❤️❤️🎸
The best ever duet in both rock'n'roll and counry music I loved them all my life long they really deserved that reward !
I can't hear the Everly brothers w/o feeling such loss, such sadness.Their music and harmony was soooooo beautiful. Miss them forever! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
How i love the everly brothers, their voices, their songs are beyond comparison. just so sad that phil is gone now, rip phil! you are miss by your fans!
I love The Everly Brothers.Their contribution to both music and pop culture is Immeasurable. The world lost more then a true icon last weak.We lost a part of American history.
Everly Brothers created best music, and dynamic duo. Thanks.
Love the Everly Brothers. Best vocal duo ever.
absolutely the best harmonies ever! no one even close. the records never get old.
Check out our Cover there is a lots of songs from the everly brothers. Let me know if you already check God Bless you
Love The Everly brothers ♥♥♥
Bee gees?
Byrds, Moby Grape and Simon and Garfunkel would be contenders
I agree! And I'm going w/ The Cactus Blossoms! Started w/ Powder Blue...
@@user-xt8ij4wb5i Everly Brothers did it first and did it best. BTW, Garfunkle wasn't a musician. Don and Phil both were.
If you weren't part of their music and they weren't part of your growing up years, it is impossible to understand how much they meant to all of us who were. Never has been another pair like them and I can't see how there ever will be. Rip Phil... and Don, stay with us, please. God bless you both.
True, true, so true! 4 Everly in our hearts!
Their music history will join other irreplaceable greats, to never be again, it was our lucky generation.)
And now the Kennedy Center dragging their feet.(. Who are on these committees? So late, now that Phil is gone.(
Ange Peebles Dang tight, Ange!
So Sad. Too late foe The Kennedy Center Awards.Should have been. Sam Cooke also!
NOW DON IS GONE TOO...MAY THEY ENJOY THEIR hEAVEN TOGETHER.
I am so grateful to the Everly Brothers for all the joy their music has brought me, they made me get up and dance, they made me sing along outloud, they told the world how my heart felt when it was bruised and broken and when it soared full of love... Phil and Don understood life, love, loss and laughter and they shared that with all the World.
R.I.H. PHIL AND DON..
I LOVE YOU BOTH.
Soundtrack of my youth 🎼🖤
As time fly's bye, and for those of us teeny boppers at that time goes, the memories become sweeter. Yes, we like to see young vocalist today but, we love "back in the day of the 60s" and no one can compare!
It's a shame it took a death before the Rock Hall dig this out. What a treasure The Everly Brothers are. I have been wanting to see this for years!!! Thank you R & R Hall of Fame. I am grateful it was recorded.
way down in bowling green....ahhhhhhhh!!!!!Wonderful and magical stuff.
So amazing songs i love from Everly brothers
The Everly Brothers born and died as music Legends. RIP Phil and Don.
That's what acceptance speeches should sound like--short and sweet.
If anyone has earned the honor of being in the rock and roll hall of fame it’s the Everly Brothers.
two of the biggest legends in the biz. bless em .
Out on there own... Nobody comes even close to Phil n Don.. Utterly timeless!!!!!..
With the godfather of rock and pop Ahmet Ertegun in the background, walking off stage with them. Introduced by Neil Young. No question, royalty.
So glad I got to see them in person back in the 90's. Their sound was just as good as ever. RIP guys.
i so love this song ! :***
The band played "Gone, Gone, Gone" a VERY COOL choice! A Top-40 single 1964, written by both Don & Phil. It should have "Gone Gone Gone" to No. 1 but, I digress.
The Everly's....they don't need a hall of Fame....they are way beyond such trivia.....and the likes of Young.............
I've enjoyed the Everlys since I was a kid in the 70's. I had always hoped that I would see them perform and possibly get their autographs, but it never came to be. They are dearly missed
Congratulations to the Everly Brothers into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Best harmonies in the world!
little frightened of the Neil Young dance moves;-)
i was so shocked that he seemingly has no rhythm...well for dancing anyway
Amazing group and harmonies!
Just something unique and special about them...wow
ITS VERY NICE TO READ THE GREAT COMMENTS HERE ON THE EVERLY BROTHERS THE NICEST HARMONY EVER... THEY BOTH ARE GONE NOW 😢 ( I STILL CAN''T BELIEVE IT... ).....BUT THEIR HARMONY REMAINS FOR EVER ! THE EVERLY BROTHERS FOR EVER 👍✨✌ !!!
The quiet but stern "Phil!" Don says at about 2:50 when Phil is talking to Young when Don is about to speak is telling about who was in charge of the act.
Very, very well observed! They once broke up over that, but thankfully by the 1980´s they had figured it out how to handle their relationship.
@@v-g-z3689 Nice sentiment but no they really hadn't hence why the brothers weren't even on speaking terms when Phil died. Nothing in their personal dynamic had changed in their 10 years apart. There are many articles available documenting their continued contentious relationship. That said this snippet is very telling about Don's attitude about the duo. Also very telling is Don's need for Phil to speak first to set the tone and follow his lead for his portion of the acceptance speech. Just my thoughts.
@@Leen61 Yeah, I kinda agree, it wasn´t perfect. But I feel like that at least in the 80´s they got along alright and seem a lot more relaxed with each other on stage than before the breakup in ´73. But yes it´s true that they still had many differences in their later years.
love seeing Paul Shaffer in the background ;) xo
R.I.P. Don. Jerry Lee is all that is left
Really and truly.. Last Man Standing!
And now Jerry's gone too.
We're only here on life's stage for a little while and then we're gone I grew up as a teen listening to the Everly Brothers back in the late fiftys here in KY loved there m usic Cathy's Clown All I Have to do is Dre am they we're the finest we're losing musicians every day from and era that ha d great music never to be again they wer e from west Ky near Bowling Green they will be missed.
WOW! I didn't know that the "Bro's" were the very FIRST inductees!!!! Someone, Somewhere got that one R I G H T!!! My earthly "idols", even above the BeaTles, and THAT says a L O T!!!!
So sad now that they are both gone now.as of yesterday's passing of Don also,at age of 84.
Yes Indeed
They need to make a biopic about them.
Sweet Phil ❤. May he RIP 🌹
Skip to about 1:55 or so. Neil talks about himself for that long.
Neil Young finally shuts up and introduced them at about the halfway mark (1:49) or so.
How about putting up the video of their performance?
Great idea, but--don't hold your breath. They're mighty stingy. It was great when this all started and they broadcast the entire show LIVE, uncut and uncensored. Those days are long gone.
Someone said the Everly Brothers didn't perform at their induction. There is footage up showing Chuck Berry performing (Phil is watching) with other famous guitarists supporting Chuck. Looks like the orgaznizers didn't think to ask Don & Phil to sing ... even though they sang better than anyone else inducted that year and were still performing at the time. Unfortunately ... Sigh.
I was there. The Everly Brothers did not perform by themselves. There was a very disorganized (but amazing) jam session at the end of the night and they were up there with everyone else. Most amazing night of my life.
Ed Kaz I was there too. I had a tape recorder in my pocket. I didn't get all of it but it's fun to play if I can even find it anymore. I sneaked in with a tuxedo on and a clipboard to look like I was doing something important.
Preston Bealle Oh if you do put it up, please let us know. You recorded history when no one else thought to do so!
That was done in 3 and a half minutes, nowadays the intros alone take 5, 6, 7, 8 minutes.
Too cool for school....
Well I am with you all out there to night to polish off the bank holiday to plate some fine musice tonight . For the next two hrs . So sit back and injoy the musice from des tonight . From lovely Ireland .
Can someone tell me where I can find such an awesome hat Neil has?
Maybe even if you know where to get one that looks sorta like it
Shouldn't be too hard. It's a U.S. Army Cavalryman's from the period of the Indian Wars, c. 1880. It's been a very popular retro hat for many decades and can be found in many places; with or without the crossed sabers on the front. Even though the U.S. Army Cavalry became heliborne and armored a very long time ago, the troopers assigned to the Cav units still wear this hat unofficially. (Neil seems to be wearing a miniature set of crossed sabers on his).
mnpd3 awesome dude thanks neil rocks that shit
Wrong guy to induct the brothers. Should’ve had Paul Simon
Neil Young??....maybe the last person on earth who should be inducting the Everly's........should have been SImon and Garfunkle, who patterned their sound off of Don and Phil....or McCartney who, after being approached by a fan years ago who told him that the Beatles were what inspired him to take up music, replied 'that's how we felt when we first heard the Everly Brothers.'
this is so awesome, they deserved it! Neil did a horrible job though.
So true, Neil talkin all bout himself.(
Wish they would have performed, jeez Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.(
Get it right will'ya? he was talking about how much the Everly Bros. influenced him when he was young with some personal anecdotes thrown in to totally validate the brothers. Geeze.
Yer....so far up his own arse there's no room for anyone else.....
TO FAR UP HIS OWN ARSE neil young WILL FORGOTTEN WHEN THESE GUYS ARE STILL REVERED
@@lamportnholt9509 Uh, who’s still performing and releasing music even in the age of COVID?
IT DOES NOT HAPPEN OFTEN THAT PHIL TOOK THE FIRST WORDS ON THEIR INTRODUCTION IN THE HALL OF FAME .... DON AND PHIL FOR EVER !
Better than the Beatles
lol why he dressed like SRV?
5 poor unfortunate souls disliked this video...no culture
Wow! Neil's wearing Indigenous regalia. If he was intending to honour Indigenous people by wearing them, he missed by a mile. He wears a U.S. Cavalry emblem on his hat. Not a good move Neil but I know you've learned since then so it's all good. Just not nice to see.
Neil is so no non sense, and so are those Everly harmonies
Funny....a guy who can't sing worth a hoot inducts two of the greatest singers in the early rock world.
These guys don't belong in the 1st class
Huh? The Beatles copied them
