This weeks video is a short travelogue of a recent trip I made to Brussels for my birthday. I wanted to see some Bruegel paintings that mean a lot to me and I also had work in the very first International Ceramic Art Fair. This trip seemed like a good idea to combine both. Hope you enjoy it.

Thank you for taking us on this journey - I enjoyed peeking over your shoulder at the artwork. "The Hunters in the Snow" is extraordinary - I love the little doggy at the front - the only "person" who is looking out towards the audience. He seems to be asking, "Got any treats?" with his tail like a question mark... Marvellous stuff - thanks so much.

Glad you enjoyed it, I love that dog, it’s acknowledging our presence and puts us in the painting with them, we’re not outside looking in, we’re in there too!!

WOW! WOW! WOW! Everything I saw was wonderful, including your display! I would never have seen things like this if you hadn't showed them to us.

What a fabulous travelogue. I had no idea you were also proficient in ceramics too. What a joy to see things you made with your hands on display at such a prestigious event, alongside so many famous ceramic artists. It does make me wonder about whether you have yet more hidden talents, we your viewers, are yet to discover. I could feel your excitement come through my screen as you gazed upon your quarry, absorbing as much of the detail you could in what must have felt like so little time. For you, this was indeed a trip encompassing a vast number of familial memories. Wonderful! Thank you for taking us along. 🎨👩🏻‍🎨🖌️👍🏻

This was lovely, thank you for sharing a bit of your personal journey through this little travelogue, while also keeping to your channel's focus by casting your restorer's eye over everything you encountered. I'm a pothead myself, so was delighted to see the ceramics fair

I'm curious if you have thoughts like "this painting needs some renovation" when you are in such museum 😊

I first saw “Hunters in the Snow” in the game “Animal Crossing”. The game has a museum with famous paintings and statues.

It's always a dilemma- to spend 1/2hr with just one painting or to rush round and see as much as you can! A good way to get to look in detail at a Brueghel is to get a jigsaw of one. It's a great way to learn to really look. Well, if you're not within easy travelling to see it in the flesh. Nothing beats that. I hope you carried on your journey and went to Vienna. I love that feeling when you see something much reproducec on the wall. Is it how you imagined it - smaller or larger, the colours, the paint surface, the way the handled the paint. You probably see the condition where I am trying to remember the colour as accurately as possible for the next time I colour-correct it for a book. Photos can be so far off.

Museum of Fine Arts *Brussels*, not Belgium. Our small country has more than one city with a museum, you know. (Someone from Antwerp talking here - we have all the Rubens paintings of which one is currently and publicly being restored, actually.)

Sorry this is the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Belgium ? , as it says on their website ? I’m sure you do have more than one museum in your country.

I have seen the "Rubenses" on display in Antwerp and I was impressed but was quite unaware that it was _all_ of them.
Perhaps you should inform the Prado that theirs are fakes?

Bruegel: is not an "oi" it is the ö you hear in German words (as well as Dutch ones of course, but there's a better chance you have some German) e.g. schön.
The gh is much like ch in Scottish Loch.
