I have been using tarps this way for for 7 years only in the heat of the summers. But this year first tarp went up 7/11/2024 it worked great until we got hit with first big storms. 7/28/2024 during the night we got hit with massive amount of rain and winds around 70-80 Mph. Destroyed the tarp and bent the 2 pipes. I rebuilt everything stronger and installed new tarp 7/2/2024, Late afternoon 7/4/2024 we got hit with even bigger storm with huge amount of rains and straight line winds of 80 Mph. Everything i did is back on the ground we are going to have to build something more permanent structures, the big question is what.

Hello welcome to Our Cabin In The Woods. Our story really started in 2013. We talked about being more self-relient. So we started looking for property. We found this 10 acres fully wooded oak property. Our kids have all moved on and have the own family's. We sold our log home. 6-20-2015 is when we moved into our camper on the property lived in it for 9 months while building our new 1600sq ft log home. We have egg laying chickens, meat chickens, turkeys, Berkshire pigs, and goats. We also have five real nice gardens. Please follow us on our modern homesteading journey.
