    Omega's Seamaster 2541.80 will always be considered the most admired or desired model purely linked to 007. This model continues to rise in value from 1995, and purely on status and kudos linkage to Bond and being the original quartz Bond watch you see these going for between £1,500 to £2,450. I personally love mine, Omega have an amazing heritage in watch making, long may it last.

      I had a choice in 2001 of Quartz or Automatic. The price difference then was very little.
      I chose the Quartz, because it was THE Goldeneye watch and 22 years later have never regretted the choice.
      It is still one of my favourite watches of all time.

      Thanks - I think it makes sense in a quartz for a user that changes time zones frequently as you would want to avoid hacking the watch unnecessarily, whereas for an auto it usually only features on GMT watches. I'm not aware of any 3 hander auto which has this feature.

    Going with quartz. I can get a beautiful auto like a JLC some day but to me the quartz Goldeneye appeals more. Thin, accurate and cheap to run, service....i don't see why so many people have such a negative reaction to this watch, and prefer the 2531.80 instead.
    To me this makes more sense as a carefree tool watch... I'm going 2541.80
    P.s. currently i have the midsize version. It's accurate to less than a second per day. In fact it seems to be dead on every day...its beautiful and i never have to worry about it, except a battery change
    Like i said, if you want a great auto, get a watch with a very nice movement.... the 1120 isn't exactly incredible is it?
    I think the original bond Omega is this one.....i would be happy with either if I'm honest, but the quartz wins on this occasion (the only other quartz watches i like are G shocks and other Casios)

    The quartz could go up in value down the line more than the automatic. It is the original Bond watch from GoldenEye. Not the automatic. And, it has all the fit and finish of the automatic without the shortcomings of an automatic. Don't get me wrong, I love automatics. And, another reason I think the quartz could be the more valuable piece down the line is because it is period correct. I mean that when this watch was made, quartz was still a technology that improved the overall accuracy and Technology Andc ease of use ... until things like cell phones and smart watches came along. So, the quartz is period correct for what was going on in the 90s with regard to watches. It was a cutting-edge tech that appeared and disappeared for the most part in 20 years. Quartz. Anyway, all the seamasters are cool, just wanted to make a few comments on the quartz Bond. Love it!

    I really prefer the minute hand to not reach the chapter ring. I can still clearly see what time it is, and it is easy enough to line up when setting the time. I prefer this for two reasons:
    1) The smaller skeletonized hands are more attractive (subjective, I know)
    2) When the lume is charged, whether by sun or by lamp, the minute hand cannot obstruct the indices

      @@PerthWAtch Yes. The differences vary between manufacturers and I think, country of origin of the various parts. Most have the date window in the 6 position. Printed date dial usually misaligned under date window so double digit dates show only one of the two numbers. Helium release crown usually a fixed decorative item. Most copy seamasters with a bracelet come with a combination type; hidden butterfly clasp on a less detailed seamaster band. Gloss connector link sections on the usual links. Even at the low end, full sized watches, with smaller case sizes as one moves up the price curve to the mechanicals, including the commemoratives, movie watches, and such. This substandard sizing seems to hold true with the pricier copies while the basic quartz watches are full sized. All of them need 2 to 3 additional links to fit on my wrists, The 'blue' dial faces are a blackish midnight blue, barely distinguishable from black, no vivid blue items have shown up. My collection, for my own owning pleasure. I'm keeping my collection all my life,, nearly 70 so that's not a long time, and my heirs can decide what to do with it.. Certainly there is an order of magnitude between owning the original and owning copies, but not everyone can afford thousands for a watch, ANY watch. And so, I enjoy hearing from those that DO own originals, a video such as this is part of the pleasure of these timepieces. For this, I thank you.

      @markfurman4386 Před rokem +1

      @@PerthWAtch I think so. My efforts have been towards finding the older style items with the date window at the 3, in wave blue. I can get close copies of the Seamaster bracelet with the non-logo, non-microadjust dual button clasp, and need to order some soon. Cost can mount up as such replacements go for $20 each and I'll need to add an average of 2 or 3 extra links to each one for fit and comfort. This means sacrificial bracelets as donors. It may be that non-adjustable links can either be converted to adjustables that use the tiny cotter pins, or be attached permanently in a factory manner. I don't know yet as my collection isn't that old yet and I'm still learning the market. I'm enjoying this hobby a great deal. It's affordable at my level of income, allows me to enjoy a VASTLY extenuated 'connection' to Bond pictures as a fan, and forms something of an escape from the humdrum of my daily life.

    the only terrible thing about this watch is the second pointer, which doesn't point the exact second position, come on, for this kind of price you deserve to have some precision.

      My one hits the second marks precisely. You can get it adjusted if desired
