  • In this video I show you how I made the full circle chiffon skirt with gathered tiers as part of Cherrybomb's burlesque costume. This versatile skirt has loads of movement and is great for dancing. You can easily customise my design to suit your needs and style. I also demonstrate how terrible at maths I am and why it's always good to double check your measurements and calculations! Subscribe for couture sewing tutorials and inspiration. Welcome to the world of Rockstars and Royalty. I’m Vicky. I have worked as a couture gown, corset and costume designer for over 20 years, initially under my label 'Devotion' in the UK, then as 'Rockstars and Royalty' when I moved to Australia in 2007. During this time I’ve become know for my elaborate couture gowns and costumes, my corsetry skills, my love of sparkles and embellishments, and for making my clients feel like Queens.
In my videos and tutorials I show you how I design and create the extravagant couture gowns, corsets and costumes that I've become known for, how I upcycle and style vintage and pre-loved clothes, and how I create accessories, hair, and make up to style and complete the looks.

You can easily customise this design to suit your needs and style. You could change the length, add marabou or ostrich feathers around the hem, join the open seam to create a complete circle, add crystals, make it from a fabric that isn't sheer, use different colours for each tier, there's so many possibilities!

Fabulous. You have the patience of a saint having to unpick!

Thank you. I'm such a perfectionist that I'd rather unpick than have something that's not finished exactly how I want it to be!

That fabric moves so beautifully! I love how much thought you put into how all the individual pieces work and layer together as a burlesque ensemble❤️

Thank you. The fabric was such a good find. Shame it was on sale so I can't get more though!

Gonna use this for an overskirt for my ren faire work. Exactly the tutorial help I've been needing, thanks!

Thank you so much Vicky! I love how you explain why panelling is better than a single circle piece. I'm also terrible at math. The skirt is lovely! Can't wait to see the finished result. Oh, and your hair color is just *chef's kiss*!

Thank you! My maths is so bad, but it's so important when you're sewing. Online calculators for things like circles are such a blessing. I usually double check everything but this one nearly slipped past me!

I find when sewing with slippery fabrics if I iron starch into them first they tend to be easier to handle plus they don’t fray as much.
