I'm a RandR freak from those days but unaware of this issue. Thanks very much for posting.

Thanks, Charles, for posting both sides of this rare LP! It's particularly enlightening to get to hear their rendition of "Hound Dog," on which Elvis based his seminal version after catching their act at the Sands Motel in Las Vegas earlier in 1956. I had previously wonder why he hadn't sung the lyrics from Big Mama Thornton's fantastic original of this Leiber and Stoller classic, e.g., "You ain't nothing but a hound dog, been snoopin' 'round my door. You can wag your tail but I ain't gonna feed you no more!" as opposed to "You ain't nothin' but a hound dog, cryin' all the time. Well, you ain't never caught a rabbit and you ain't no friend of mine." The latter had never seemed to me worthy of either the composers or the artist, and I could never understand why Elvis would have come up with these alternative lyrics (given his penchant for singing R&B originals in the earlier years of his career), until I learned that this group was the source. Mind you, I am not meaning to take away anything from any of the parties involved, and I am glad to have finally had the opportunity to hear Freddie Bell and the Bellboys' recording of this song, thanks to your wonderful channel and your generosity in sharing your collection with us! It's also interesting to get to hear their covers of "Alright, OK, You Win" and "The Hucklebuck" as well as Freddie's original material.

Here's an interesting commentary on Freddie Bell, including how they came to change the lyrics to "Hound Dog": tims.blackcat.nl/messages/freddie_bell.htm

Frank Bennett sounds much like him. Rocking is his business. Check him out. Well alright, ok.
