So many of the statements are just... statements. They aren’t even jokes they’re just sentences with a laugh track after them.

Sheldon saying "nope" and walking away after the comic store worker asks if she can help him without a laugh track was so awkward that it made it funny

Yeah
Like a drama.
This video has convinced me that the script definitely has the phrase "Insert laugh track here" written at the end of every sentence.
The script probably has [Hold for laughter] and judging by the pacing there is probably 3 different lengths, short, regular and long depending on how funny the writers think they are.

They would all be asleep
it was. that is why the actors pause. that doesn't mean the laughs arent prompted.
The thing is, some of these actually are fully functional jokes, some may dare to even call the x men one funny, but the delivery and framing both rely so incredibly heavy on the laugh track that it would make anything awkward regardless of what they're saying
I mean, that joke is only funny because that was actually Neil Gaiman Sheldon dismissed.
If it hasn't the laugh tracks the show would be better maybe.
Yeah, I found myself chuckling a bunch at that too
The actors experience this everyday
And paid millions for it.

They didn't expirience it that way. They had an live audience who was told when to laugh etc. It is still cringe

I can feel my brain attempting to insert a laugh track to ease the awkwardness
It is funny to think that your comment had a laugh track
For real
I think the awkwardness is because in order to mute the sound track all sounds are muted. So it gives that uncanny feeling.
The sound of air blowing in the background
It's more awkward because they take pauses for the live audience queue of laughter
It’s just insane how they have a laugh track after every single line even when it’s not even a joke.
Almost as if the writers aren’t trying
TBBT record it with live audience, so you have to ask the people in the set why they laughing after every line.

To be fair, I think Seinfeld is a genuinely funny show, whereas Big Bang theory is just a loose story with terrible jokes and timing. And Seinfeld is a show made by an actual stand up comedian that knows how real people function. But it’s only my opinion
Idk man I kinda like Seinfeld, its still pretty funny without the plague of laugh track, actually it would be even better without it
True. People LOVE Seinfeld, but even with the laugh track it's still pretty boring.
Curb has no laugh track and it's funny.. same writer/creator as Seinfeld. I don't need no laugh track to know big bang is not funny whereas Seinfeld is still funny to this day with multiple viewings, proper joke writing.
@@GonzoDMT REALLY? I don't like Seinfeld, but I'll admit that it has jokes that are still funny, but every scene of Curb Your Enthusiasm I've seen has just been kind of dull.
It's not even the lines being unfunny or the jokes being that bad, it's the fact that the delivery of each and every one (including those that weren't funny to begin with) is centered around the fact that there will be a laugh track there, so they don't need to actually have interesting pacing or delivery.
Unlike friends tbh. The actors have incredible expressions during their jokes and skits. Soo.. many impactful episodes of Friends make you completely forget there are laughtracks to begin with !!
I don’t know how to describe it but this is how depression feels

“Big Bang Theory But with a real audience this time”
Facts
HAH
@Phil Thomas There was indeed a live audience, but it's important to know, what audience that is and what is their mentality. There are videos on CZcams that will show you it consists mostly of superfans that are capable of laughing at anything. Most importantly, sitcomes (TBBT is no different) have a flashing signals in the studio that will basically tell the audience, when and how long they are suppose to laugh. Most of the laughs are way too short and simple to be genuine, thats how you know that a laugh track or signal was used to make a fake laugh. TBBT is filled with them.
@Phil Thomas Sorry, but with a poor logic like this, you can try as much as you want, it won't really impress or affect me. Anyway, some facts for ya.
There are not that many seats in the studio for the audience and superfans are that kind of people who are visiting the live show multiple times, if not every time they can, because they wanna see the show as soon as possible. So it's not really a case that everyone is buying their tickets, there is not that many active superfans compared to a huge passive audience in their home watching and not making a big deal out of it. There is a video about TBBT's live audience on CZcams, find it if you want. Still, laughs in the TBBT studio (like in the most sitcomes) are heavily supervised with signals as I already mentioned.
TBBT was number only for a what, a year... Game of Thrones was much more popular one at that time. TBBT had its alltime best in 2016 (before it started going down again) which still wasn't enough to win over more succesful sitcomes like Seinfeld, or Home Improvement. However, calculating viewers is problematic, because you have to consider in what timeslot it aired and against what kind of programs. That's just some television stuff you should learn before you star arguing, it makes you look like a sad primitive... but considering you find TBBT funny, I understand.
BTW, The Office because of Netflix became the most populat show ever... so I will praise them instead.
@Phil Thomas And you failed again. First, you clearly have no idea how any of this works, I never talked about total amount of viewers of these shows, I was talking about amount of people watching per episode. To your second attempt, you were the one who said "most watched thing on tv when it was running" which is not true... because you know... GoT is also a tv thing, silly. Or you are just mad that your 'virginity protector of nerds' wasn't as succesful as a 'fantasy rubbish'? Both cases make you look like a loser anyway. Nice try, tho... not really, I am clearly trollin' you more succesfuly (had no idea it's gonna be that easy).

Big *BAND* Theory
The problem here is that between scenes, in places where there used to be laughter, you have completely muted the sound and it seems extremely unnatural, because not only is there no laughter, but there is no sound at all. If there was a natural sound made by human beings (breathing, exhales, gruntings, step sounds, random noises), it would be much better than what you got here. Then again, these are sitcoms. Most of the series is recorded in the studio in front of a live audience. It is something like a theater play. This is how actors behave in theaters: they wait for the laughter to end. The fact that you have not attended live performances and do not know what it looks like is much sadder than the fact that you had to remove the laughter that was naturally present, because the audience is in the studio, just to take a crap on very nice comedy.
This is legitimately unsettling, the dead air is some “lost episode” creepypasta type shit.

My thought exactly, given this was the TOP show and they made millions/episode by the end. Now I'm wondering what exactly is the "laugh track" in politics... (headlines maybe?)
As humans, we have an inherent need to fit in with other people. Laugh tracks basically tell our conscience, if others find this funny, we should too
Works with songs too. All it takes is adding a nice beat and the next thing you know you have this song stuck in your head that you can't get out. It's creepy when you realize that's been done to us on purpose.
I don't have to imagine it. They just shout free health care, paying off student loans, they're coming for the guns, or (insert abortion stance here) from the rooftops and it gets the people going. Then the politicians get in and abandon the campaign promises for insider trading and pilfering of our tax dollars.

Without the laugh track I just feel bad for Sheldon. His inability to adapt to situations and refusal to interact with new things just really reminds me of some of my old friends .
I've never watched the show and I cant even tell where any laugh tracks are supposed to go
easy... they go after every other word
somebody actually sat down and wrote this hot trash and thought this was funny... think about that.
They never thought it was funny, that's why they added laugh tracks in the first place...
And he probably charged like 1 million
If I actually contemplated it, my head might explode, so I'm probably better off...
I don’t think the writers think it’s funny. I think they think that the sheep who consume this hot garbage think it’s funny
This Hot Trash.
I want full episodes of this just to randomly watch when people come over and see how long it takes before people notice
well, if people even use cable at this point because i hardly do, i want there to be episodes that air where theres no laughing. and just for shits and giggles add in a creepy shot of one of the characters standing over the corpse of another, behind the set, with muffled laughing. idk i think that'd be kinda funny. or they'd do that for random episodes.
@@lightlylemony went a bit far, with the corpse, there 😬
It's most cringe show I have seen. Even 12 seasons long it doesn't makes sense and it doesn't have a story they just stretched it to 12 seasons because of sheldon's popularity all episodes are only about sheldon then they tried to make him and Amy more human fir viewer's sympathy by making all other characters mean(like they did to Bernadette).
The makers are jerk mainly bill Prady who think a lot of themselves and think other people are jokers.
It's not funny because the jokes are forced on people by the makers not by laughter tracks but by calling it an intellectual show. It's in reality a dumb show that creates its image as intelligent and if we dont laugh along it we will be called dumb. But in reality neither the science nor jokes make sense even children who don't like science can call them fools.
@@twahakhan8914 you really jumping on multiple comments with the same reply 😂😂 that's pretty sad man, tell me where this show hurt you? I don't think you're an idiot because you don't like the show, I think you're an idiot because you copy and paste the same reply in multiple comments.
@@lightlylemony love it
The thing is sitcoms are constructed in that way, that’s the reason it feels weird without laugh tracks. In movies we see constant dialogues and frequent reactions so it seems fine. If this was in a movie way, I guess it would’ve been funny.
It's hilarious hearing the howling wind after their statements instead of a laugh track 😂
Sheldon's life is full of imposters and is stuck in an abusive relationship. That's the plot I'm getting from this
And his life is apparently full of awkward silences
What’s abusive about this clip?
That's sus
@《Philius Lupin》 It's not Sheldon, it's the people in his life taking advantage of him
Sus
As they read their lines, are they silently counting to three before moving on?
yeah I think so.
There’s usually a live audience being told when to laugh
Makayla Lovelace they probably get tased when they don’t laugh
@@makaylalovelace3769 * its usually a soundboard adding the prerecorded laughs in editing
Sanatorium Nugget im deceased 😂
I like it. My sorry ass wishes it were as easy as muting a few audio channels to get this effect, but since the laughs are in fact real and recorded live, there always some inevitable bleed into the actors' recording. So there's a lot of manual work required for each episode. CBS, or Warner, could probably do it though, as it's not just a matter of sound, but editing as well. Being a multi camera show, they could choose when not to hold on a character, and hide any long holds, or periods of silence, between cuts. I wish they would do that, because again, I like it a lot this way.
Imagine being on set. Every joke is a complete bomb. The silence is deafening
This is why I like Malcom in the Middle. Genuine comedy, no forced laughs, and not a single laugh track.
I cant even watch a show with a laugh track any longer. It's all I hear and most of them are not funny.
Malcolm in the middle is extremely boring though.
@@frankensteinsmonster9553 wrong
Drake and Josh all day baby
I don't know why, but comedies with laugh tracks are incredibly annoying to me, they literally make me angry for no reason.
@@frankensteinsmonster9553 Yeah. Watched it again recently and MITM is really average. Annoying characters everywhere in the show.
Even Hal.
Stale writing too, a lot of the episodes go nowhere.
ok now I know the jokes aren't funny but the awkward silence after an offensive statement is absolutely hilarious in its own way
It's crazy that Big Bang Theory had about 4 times as many viewers on average as shows like 30 Rock and Parks and Rec, and 6 times as many viewers as Community.
It's amazing how a laugh track can make people seem less cringe
this is like an existentialist play
Brooke Ryan way too much credit for this (forgive the pun) joke of a show.
HAHA that is perfect.
I think it's much bleaker.

When the static cuts out you just now the canned laughter was ludicrous
This was actually pretty difficult to watch until I saw Neil Gaiman's cameo. I forgot how many nerdy cameos the show had but it doesn't make up for the weird dialogue timing from a lack of laughter
I was thinking is that Neil Gaiman? He looks like him but I'm not sure. My mom watched this show BUT I KNEW SHE NEVER got the jokes so I stopped watching the show
I felt bad for him. He’s a really great writer and has had his books turned into movies and shows and his entire cameo was just them making fun of him.
@@SaturnHunter_ I feel like this is his kind of comedy. He doesn't take himself too seriously, his interview shows that kind of stuff. He's probably have fun making this-- making fun of himself, haha.
this is just, so depressing
Without the laugh track you can actually see what Big Bang theory could’ve been with proper visual comedy
Howard’s weird awkward face is actually funny without the laugh track
the laughter tracks for the show were recorded live on the set with a live audience in the studio, the awkward gaps are just the actors letting the audience's roar die down, so that the dialogues are heard
*Catches yourself laughing to Big Bang Theory* "Time to kill myself."
*Catches yourself laughing to Big Bang Theory without laugh tracks* "Time to very slowly suffocate myself"
I laughed without the laugh and im scared of myself hahah. (Anyways I believe tha sheldon is a really good actor, i seem a cleaner perform without the lauhg and i think thats why)
@littlesmew a lot of people who have tried committing suicide or seriously thought about it make jokes, everything is a laughing matter if you say something funny about it, there's absolutely no point in being so restrictive.
@littlesmew also you told them to commit suicide, which if you're not joking about it like you say you are, is extremely childish of you, like seriously if you're an adult and not an edgy 12 year old you need help.
littlesmew I agree with the other poster: if you’re over 12, you need help.
@littlesmew There's a difference between dark humor and telling someone to actually kill themselves. You'd make a great corpse? Really? Is that how you talk to patients who might use humor as a coping mechanism or to make light of a serious situation?
