Oh God. You're telling me the DLC is a step up from this super cheap boss that heals even when you block her? Man, I dunno if I even want it anymore. Having everything just kill you in two hits regardless of your build is just unacceptable to me.
@@psycholuigimanThe 2nd phase of the final dlc boss is insane. Every attack basically has a massive energy wave or aoe blast attached to the end of it. And if you get grabbed twice its an automatic death regardless of how much health you have.
@@psycholuigiman i always do my first play through with summons to take the edge off of some of the difficulty initially. No shame in using them, regardless of what the gatekeepers on reddit say.
@@VtuberFilianClips You’re fighting her with way too much defense, it’s no fun when you can tank waterfowl dance;)) Ideally, she should be fought with the difficulty that she can kill you in two to three hits. That’s when it really starts getting funnnnnnnn. I spent three hours beating her in my first play through with only a shield talisman and no armor (only dodge/katana), it’s a totally different fight, and you actually have to learn how to dodge the waterfowl dance.
I love how she reflexively yells “MODS” as a defense mechanism……like they’re going to ban her
And after the DLC: "You know, maybe _Waterfowl_ isn't so bad after all."
Deadass it isn’t. If you get hit by any of the individual 3 waterfowl barrages, you can still dodge the next 2 barrages.
Meanwhile Rellana’s double moons will guaranteed kill you if the first one hits you. (Assuming you don’t have 80 vigor, the bull goat armor set, and all mitigation talismans at once. That MIGHT let you survive).
And let’s not even get into Radahn’s upward slash. Or his light beam roll catches. Or his lightspeed meteor. Or his meteors + clone slashes. Or his arena wide explosions. Or his seemingly never-ending combos.
Looks at final boss when reading this. Even if is a 2 corpse now in my eyes... Yeah... I agree with this comment
@Zeke1460 for real. And to be honest, for as much shit as people give Waterfowl, it's only that first flurry that you need to watch out for. You can dodge through the second one, Malenia tends to miss the third on her own, and she's stationary for the fourth.
Not saying it won't take some practice to dodge, but it _is_ a remarkably fair attack compared to stuff you see in the DLC.
@@Zeke1460Honestly Radahn wasn't that bad, you want to get hit by the after image because they deal pitiful damage compared to the real one, the huge AoE is definitely BS, you need to run/roll as soon as he starts it otherwise your F-ed.
The combos are pretty BS, but most of them don't "roll catch" you, usually only the last hit and the light beams from it.
His comet is kinda lame, it always aims for the middle of the arena.
Rellana feels a lot more aggressive compared to him, he has way more down time for you to heal and/or punish.
On the topic of Radahn, it's kinda funny that his DLC armor is a straight downgrade from his base game armor in terms of stats

Kinda curious how much vigor you need to survive her grab attack. I just watched a video of someone on new game +7 and the grab one shot him with 99 vigor.
@XFlamingSparkX I think it's always a oneshot. But then again in new game +7 things hurt so much more. I started my first dlc run on ng +6 and that was a mistake
@@XFlamingSparkX every NG boosts atk and hp of all mobs, so it's normal. Without NG you can survive her grab with 40-50 vigor and good armour.

She levelled vigor, that's for sure. Being able to take 3-4 hits makes it a lot easier than only being able to take 1 or 2
it's obvious she watched this fight before and understands the move. I mean it's a 2yr old boss so that is fair.
Going straight into Waterfowl in Phase 2 is just straight foul.
She tends to do them based on either timings or damage received. Speaking from experience you can more or less predict when you're due one and it will often carry over into phase 2.

Its actually just complete RNG how often she uses waterfowl. The only requirement for it is that she's below 70% health.
@@FantomMisfit Waterfowl is actually a counter measure to ranged builds. if you spam ranged attacks she'll spam waterfowl. So if you play up close she's wayyyyy less likely to do it.
if you watch melania was extremely passive during her last fight not using her triple stash at all when normally she can't seem to spam that sh!t enough. Sure the triple slash does decent damage but it also serves the purpose of poking your making your think about healing while getting comboed and if you heal at the wrong time you get punished, this is completely lacking from her last run. The hardest part about Melania phase two is sure she has 3 instant kills but it also the stamina management having to both dodge her infinite flurry of attacks gets some attacks in of your own and still have to stamina to dodge. In her last fight that wasn't an issue at all because melania just was not being aggressive at all.

@@mangalink25i dunno for me if you know waterfowl and dont greed you're safe playing the long game, the move that kept catching me off guard were the shadow clones

The fact that she’s panic rolling in the right direction to avoid most of Waterfowl. I can’t decide if that impressive or baffling lol
good job, only 26 attempts, I'm a souls vet and she took me 53 tries, I was a bit on the slower side for movement and attacking, but big props to you

It was generous to put a -bonfire- site of grace near her. They knew it’d be super hard so they didn’t make the player run all the way back.
Like 95% of the bosses in the game have either grace or a stake less than 60 seconds from them, it's not just her.

Scaled armor is great until mid game, you have better options by now
But also the flower is just really strong
Here’s the tip: when she starts doing the flower run straight at her, when you get underneath her do some circling around, she will miss you 100% of the time
Tbf she (as far as I can tell) never got hit directly by the flower attack most of the damage she took to it was chip damage from being too close or getting too close before the attack was completed
btw the flowers is easy dogeable, just don’t lock on and walk to the side, she completely looses you

Bro going into wing stance and comboing the light into heavy is so cool to use against Malenia. Even with dlc weapons and spells she's still the same as ever but her first phase is a hell of a lot easier now. Vykes dragon bolt really helps with staggering and poise breaking her.

Personally, me and me beat melania easily, I heard melania was a hard boss, so when I fought her and won easily I wondered why people said she was difficult, so this is my first time watching someone fight her, and I never got thrown in the air or any hard attack, so I see the difficulty now. (I was also on ng+2)
There's no way that filian is a better gamer than me, it took me like 35 tries to defeat that bi...🤡
Then there's me who can't even beat margit at level 43 with bloodhound fang +2 and all my levels are into vigour dex and str😢

After the DLC Malenia seems so slow. She even staggers after hits. Mesmer moves like a damn grasshopper and kicks my ass non stop. I miss Malenia.
Melania is way harder than Mesmer. Mesmer's attacks are easy to dodge
Malenia's difficulty is her healing per hit. Messmer is a fast glass cannon.
Then you realize that she honestly is nearly as difficult as most dlc bosses.
Im at the last area and have yet to meet one remotely as difficult as her. I doubt the last 2 bosses will be harder either. Waterfowl is pretty busted

Mimic tear and double slash keen nagakiba with golden vow, flame and bloodflame blade 😂 Just dodge most attacks and get those L2s in and she goes down waaaay too quick. Helps that she basically has 0 poise.
Now I can't wait to play through NG+ after the DLC so I can fight her with something that doesn't feel like cheese. I want the proper Melania experience!

I'm sorry to burst everyone's bubble lol, she is one of the easiest bosses in the game, easy to read attacks first phase and only one attack that has the lowest roll to actually happen that can hurt you. People who still think this game is hard just have very smooth brains. :p Sorry, I know not everyone is actually good at games but it is funny when I see people say She is a hard boss.
She was both over leveled and I have the feeling she's watched a lot of Malenia fights on others streams.

"I have a feeling" based on what? She didn't do any of the consistent tricks to take no damage from waterfowl, so eh?
She's level 132. You can see it in the top right corner at 7:18. This is not considered overleveled - it's quite an average level for late-game stage, in fact. She's just got gud. You should try it sometimes, too.
@@zerokills345 People say 120+ is appropriate for this bossfight (I rly think even that is a bit high...maybe around +100 to 120 is for people who've played souls game before) of course there is no upper limit with these suggestions
