I tinted my 2021 Silverado rear windows to 5% and I hate not being able to see out of my windows at night, even if I do have the rear camera. I i stalled the Diesel LED backup lights and they’ve made a world of difference. They’re brighter than my forward lights!
Hi Don, I ordered this mod from Boost a few months ago and it did not work after following their video instructions... YOUR instructions worked! Thank you. The difference was tapping in to the Pink connector, wire #26. And the tip about the Ambient light sensor was a key point. I also installed the Boost mirror task lights to be on with the Bright lights; that works great. Subscribed.
After watching your video on the wireless phone charger I decided to install that same mod on my AT4. I have had some issues with keeping my phone connected to the charger, but only because I have a very thick phone case. I've had other people use it and have not seen any issues with a phone sliding around.
I did both of these Boost Auto light mods. Had the truck in for service and there were stored codes for fog light to battery ground, cargo light to battery ground, etc. The computer recognizes that the lights are on without being activated. I'm surprised BA doesn't notify that these will appear.
Great mod & video. I was watching one of your other video's of u installing the tailgate led lights & noticed them controlled with ur remote. I am assuming this mod controls the tailgate lights vs. turning on the cargo lights in the cab? I purchased a 2022 AT4 refreshed model & I enjoy watching you channel!
So I actually just ordered this mod and a couple others from boost auto, my dad had a hernia about me tapping into my wiring harness in this way, he is an experienced mechanic but sometimes just really old school about the way he does things, his concern is tapping into the wire in this way will cut the number of wires and could cause overloading and fry the wires, also was concerned about overloading the control module. Can you shed any light on this? Any issues with your other boost auto mod? In your prep for this mod did you find anything to be concerned about? It seems to me most people are more than happy with it. Thanks!
Hi there! I know where he is coming from. The tolerance of systems in vehicles today and the complexity can be of concern. I am not concerned and haven’t any issues. If you have a specific concern such as overloading a circuit or the BCM, I would pose your question to the team at BoostAutoParts. I have read that they are very responsive. I am pretty confident that they wouldn’t have come to market with all of these upgrades if there was high risk associated with any of them. My only slight worry was crowding the area with tapped wires. I also think I am done with tapping into any more of these circuits
I installed the fog light mod in wires 10/18 about three weeks ago in my 21 Silverado and it works flawlessly!! So far so good, and it is a MUST HAVE for $20. Now I’m doing the cargo mod and like Don, that will be all that I do with splicing wires! But these two mods are all you need IMO.
It has to be dark as it is tied to your ambient light sensor. If you cover the sensor on the dash you can do a a test. Otherwise check your lighting settings in the menu of your truck. Hopefully you don’t have any wrong or poor connections as that would be the last thing to review
So. I have a 2014 that has light bars, rock lights, and even a subwoofer. But, with all that done, I left my truck set up to where I could just remove the wires and it's basically stock again, I have a rule that i don't want to cut into ANY part of my harness. That being said, I would LOVE to use some of these mods like this one. How can add these taps so that if I end up removing them you'd never be able to tell they were there to begin with? 🤔
Hi, your videos are great. I just bought a 2023 AT4. I'm curious, I don't see a follow up to your potential purchase or thoughts on the AT4X. I am bummed I did not go for an X just to have the added capabilities. When I was browsing pricing, I did not realize the AEV package was an option and did not want to spend $90k USA. I also own a 2021 Escalade ESV (I could give you a full page of dislikes all mostly safety related). I bought the Boost fog lamp mod and I am about to order the bed light reverse part. Curious are you ever concerned about tapping into the same wire multiple times? For instance, the pink circuit wire #6 as it used for multiple tweaks.

Thanks! Are you referring to the illuminated GMC logo? If you are, they are made for the 2019+ new body style and not any of the 2019 outgoing body style

How difficult would it be to put a switch in the tailgate so every time you open it all the lights come on in the bed as you're using it that way you don't have to go up to the cabin turn them on that is something GM should have had in there in the first place. That is something I could easily do from scratch, but it would be more professional with a Boost or, etc. plug and play
Does that also turn on the tailgate step light. I would assume it does. Also, does any company make a plug n play switch to reset that shift to park warning fail. I can get mine reset by unplugging it under the knee panel on the driver's side, then plugging back in. But it only lasts a day or less. So I was going to wire in a toggle switch to reset it without removing the panel every time it malfunctions
Don, I installed the Fog Light mod and the Cargo/Reverse mod from Boost Auto Parts. The Fog Lights were no issue but the Cargo/Reverse does not light up when unlocking the vehicle. Lights do come on when in reverse or turning on cargo switch. Can you direct me in how to get it to turn on with remote??
Funny you ask. It is a inexpensive Amazon one. I noticed 1 burnt out Red LED so I am going to replace it eventually with a Putco one. More money, but better quality
@@Donslife The new Fords have perimeter lighting selectable through their infotainment menus. However it has nothing to do with reverse and/or unlock triggering. With all of the menus and gizmos available I'm not sure why they dumb it down. Personally I'd be happy if there were an overwhelming list of options to choose from.

Not sure. I only looked for the part specific to 2019-2021. It might be the same part but surely a different set of wires to tap into. Check out their website if you haven’t yet and filter it to your truck. Boostautoparts.com
I never understood why this was never a stock thing. In all honesty using them as cargo lights even with led’s in them theyre useless. Onlything they are good for as they come are tellimg if you left a door open by accident

Hello I just installed the diode dynamics led lights xrp 720 for my reverse lights plus HP5 for the license plate light. Makes a huge difference at night. I have another set of xrp for the cargo light but haven't had time to replace them. You think there are any long term effects with wire tapping them for this mod?
I will eventually upgrade my license plate lights too. They seem so dull now. Answer to your question : I am not concerned about tapping these specific wires.
No, I would say they make you much more visible to vehicles and pedestrians behind you. There is a big safety gain if you are backing out of locations often
@@Donslife The reason it does not turn the reverse lights on when you turn on the cargo light is that thick wire actually has a Diode in it. A diode only allows current to flow in one direction.

Completely fair point. You can buy all of the raw materials and reproduce everything for a fraction of the price, but the majority of people aren’t going to do that or spend the time. For me, $20 to have it show up at my door ready to install is worth it.

Correct. This BoostAutoParts mod allows it. Keep in mind the ambient light sensor on the dash can play a part in various lighting behavior too

Get a fuse tap and wire into the fuse box. Just gotta find the reverse light fuse location.

It has to be dark outside. Or cover up the ambient light sensor on the middle of the dash. Try that

I am not worried. They have to be proven to contribute to a warrantied item failing
My screen got the back up at night is now very hard to see on the side with the light beside the rear view camera. Any suggestions?

Pretty sure, but if you want your tow mirrors to light up too, it is a separate harness. Check out their website to be 100% sure of your options
