Grew up on the East Side of Detroit as well. When I moved to Chicago I would explo❤re the House music scene and talk so some of the popular DJs, when I told them I was from Detroit, the conversation took off. Chicago HM DJs have mad respect for Detroit HM DJs. I frequented Frankie Knuckles parties. Always off the chain. Wajeed your latest cut…Push ‘em in the face! OMG!!

The polar opposite of Derrick May, Derrick May would say what equipment he used (The DX 100, which inspired me to get a DX 100 as my first synth {And I still own the DX 100}, but how he got those sounds was & is a mystery (as it should be). Wahjeed is like “Here’s my best drum sounds and loops, and samples, do with it as you see fit”. Good luck getting Derrick to do something like that.😋.
