    Just got hired @ PapaJohns…. Transitioned from 3 years otr to food service…. Im loving it! To me I just look at it as I’m getting paid to workout 😂…. My 1st day my Apple Watch said I burned 2k calories and took 21k steps that day… but nothing beats kissing ur wife and kids before work and knowing ur returning again later… I used to hate knowing next time I see them will be 2weeks later… stay safe my fellow drivers!🙏🏾

    To new food service employees: work life balance with a couple hundred or so less or more is the difference in misery and happiness. PFG I was doing ( not legally ) 20 hour days. 18k in two months. Great pay, terrible management, terrible work life balance. 5-600 miles a day. Now at GFS for one month: already have a tolerable route, maybe $100 less a week, 8-10 hour days and management that portrays that they care. These are real experiences and my best advice is to consider other factors besides money!!

    Ive worked for sygma and always heard sygma was the highest paid food delivery company to work for. We got paid by weight stops and miles and I can only speak from my experience but I'll say I was grossing about $3,000 a week and I was only working about 50hrs a week which is equivalent to $60 an hour if you do the math but I will say they don't treat drivers the best and especially new drivers.

      Worked at Sygma for years. Started as a selector and moved to a yard driver because of previous work experience. Was on route to get a cdl but the company is sl disorganized and the management is full of high-school level drama. I had to call it quits.

    • @shaneberstler3729
      @shaneberstler3729 Před 10 měsíci

      @yodambomb4974 part of the solution could be Sygma stop cramming every last stop on one truck but I will say at some point yes a case is gonna have to be buried to stabilize the skid but it sucks when you can tell a selector just didn't care and buried the cases to make his or hers job easier. Also some times skids are built nice but then the loader loads it backwards so all the work that selector did building that skid and trying not to bury cases was for no reason.

      I'm trying to find something like that too. Work 4 days a week and off 3 days. Don't care if I have to sleep in the truck for a couple nights a week, but wouldn't really want to say in the truck 4 days in a row

    What company would you say is the best work life balance out of all of them in your opinion?

      I’m sure there are drivers at each company who have time to do the things they enjoy outside of work. I think it really comes down to the route your on. However, companies who have 4 day work schedules for certain routes are great also. Like GFS, PFG, & I believe Sysco & Mclane have some 4 day schedules as well.

    Is a 4 day work week possible with a lot of these companies? I was working 6 days a week OTR and got burnt out. And I want to get back in shape again

      I'm at mclane in california I think 4 days is thr norm

      4 day’s might be the norm for you @Hamrocksco at Mclane but it’s definitely not the norm across the board regarding other food service companies. Most guy’s are working minimum 5 days and in some cases 6 days.

      @@imanthonytv since I got you here what do you consider a heavy load I did my first assist on a route it was 36k and I think 1400 cases

    • @imanthonytv
      @imanthonytv  Před 2 lety +1

      That’s definitely heavy. In my opinion, anything over 800 cases is heavy.
