And as others have said, PvP is pay to win. Even if you discount everything memed on in the video, and assume gear from the Crowns Shop isn't needed, there's still things like the new PvP mastery amulets. However, as mentioned by Josh in the video, there's no ceiling for the amount you can pay to have the best of everything. Therefore, Wizard101 is in fact pay to win.
PVE isn't pay to win. The fact that you can say that knowingly having a majority of the best gear sources in the game being farmable shows how much you play this game. Pay to win has been defined in the most common definition as paying to win over normal players by expending money to achieve the same means with less effort. No where in the majority of pve content is there content in which besides paying a membership you can achieve a better playing experience by paying. Second chance chests are irrelevant due to the low drop rates and the difference between someone cutting 3 or 4 runs out the way is far beyond literal paywalling . Pets are entirely optional, and most pack and bundle gear is completely useless bar a few outliers that barely outperform the base game gear. The exalted duels drop comparable pieces of gear to the jade gear set and life even gets a spooky carnival robe alternative in the game in karamelle. As for the best damage statistics in the game most schools work perfectly fine within the 150-180 range regardless of paid gear and gear bonus sets. With the primeval hoard pack you lose 4-6% damage depending on the school you're in and that genuinely will not break your gameplay experience. The best set in the game for general gameplay, being dragoons is entirely farmable and the materials and resources have to be farmed personally. For jewels, we have several sources in the game that drop resources needed for other alternatives. In example for most of the high value jewels you can farm uwe or secret tunnel. If you need pierce jewels the fortee thieves drop them in mirage. You're making a statement that you have zero actual experience about and merely are expressing your sentiments about the low drop rates that KI makes people suffer from. I spend on this game, its not a magical solution in which you gain such an advantage over players by having 1% better stats.

At least admit you don't before projecting onto someone. It's short for Real Money Trading. While it is against the ToS (and I'm pretty sure illegal too), there are a considerable amount of players that do partake in it. In many of these servers (conducted through Discord), they'll charge $5-6 per full stack of 999 empowers. These empowers are then traded for rare/premium items and services. I want to make clear though - trading the empowers for the services is not the RMT - while it annoys KI, they permit it. It's buying the empowers (and some other rare TCs) with real money that qualifies as RMT as your money is going to other players, not KI. I'm not saying pay to win is inherently bad per se. In fact, many of us do appreciate SOME of those pay to win elements - i.e., chests, the ability to speed up pet training (this is NOT optional for long-term efficiency), and yes even jewel packs (the latter two are debatable among some though). Many of us in our community are okay with the pay to win elements as long as there are farmable methods like you said. Even when there aren't farmable, you can still generally obtain those completely f2p thanks to empower trading, plus it indirectly funds the game (as long as it's not via RMT). For PvE, the pay to win isn't what frustrates many of us. It's the lack of being able to obtain spellements outside the Crowns Shop and the stat curve. It's them going one step forward, two steps backwards. It's our player feedback being disrespected.
