What's your take on Medieval II?
Greatest strategy game ever made
Mechanicallly unarguably the best total war game but interms of historical inaccuracy it's pretty blatant xD
Oh yeah xD but we can turn a blind eye to it
Because Rome total war was any better with bronze age Egypt and Spain existing? Or in total war Attila saying he was born 6 years earlier than he actually was? no total war game was historical accurate 100 percent
@@funkymonkeyman1000 Rome I was even worse in my opinion in terms of accuracy and the later total wars have a fake accuracy and depict a fundamentall wrong version of history
That's why mods exist:)
I think the camera for battles is such ass for medieval 2. I did get used to it after awhile though.
Tetris 1 review when
It's probably on par with Empire for the most hours I've sunk into a Total War game, and I've a couple of thousand hours chalked up rampaging across the globe as the British/Germans/Dutch.
This topic deserves 3h 40min video
I'm not a fan of yapping
Aged pretty well
Epic video although i think you rated the game too high in a lot of the aspects if we are looking at a 2024 review but i would totally agree if we are looking at 2006 standards
Also the "bug" that makes every faction hate you is not a bug but intentional game design and is tied to campaign difficulty you choose at the start of the campaign;
very hard makes everyone hate you quickly
hard makes everyone hate you but at half the speed of the VH difficulty
medium doesn't alter faction relations with the player at all
and easy improves faction relations towards you over time at the same speed the hard difficulty decreases it
its also affected by how powerful the player is (being too powerful worsening the relations) but from personal experience it doesn't really matter that much
a bit of a nerdout in a comment but its useful to know if you want to play a campaign with functioning diplomacy (medium campaign difficulty and not conquering half the map at turn 35)
While you are correct, there actually is a bug that hampers those trying to maintain diplomatic relations to others and the Pope or role play as chivalric leader, namely, settlement occupation bug.
Exterminating a settlement brings huge minus to both your overall reputation and bilateral with the faction you took the settlement from on top - goes without saying. Sacking does the same but both effects are considerably milder. Occupying was meant to improve these factors, but due to a typo in game files it is actually worse than exterminating. Since not many players know this even today, those attempting chivalry/diplomacy style end up quickly dropping their reputation to abysmal by doing the chivalric decision.
The bug is pretty easy to fix in game files, after which managing your reputation is actually easy even at hard difficulty (remember to release prisoners often as well though.) Other option is to avoid occupying and sack settlements as MO.
yeah my bad i completely forgot about that since i fixed it in my game so long ago
Bias and personal preference gets in the way when making these, so it's difficult to judge it appropriately. I'll try to review games more appropriately (and hopefully, more objectively!).
Thanks for watching, and thank you for that "bug" explanation :)
When Med2 remastered?
At the rate that CA is going, I don't want them to fumble M2 Remastered the way they remastered Rome
Dark souls 2 review when?
soon
Can you tell me about all of the gunpowder units in medieval 2 total war? Which ones are considered the best ones in this game?@@JoJoKaiser1504
It shouldn't hurt seeing how much CA has floundered since then but it does.
rome 1 > medieval 2
A statement that I agree with, but I love them both!
