- So I joined a D&D campaign with my college friends a few months ago and I've been having the time of my life! Some seriously angsty stuff happened and I thought I'd make an animatic about it.
Characters: Kalameet, Dragonborn Grave Cleric (mine)
Song, Kenku College of Blades Bard (my friend's)
(I can give you more details about them in the comments if you want me to!)
Song: Worthless child by Kikuo; cover by Umber
Credit to peach madchrison as the inspiration for the aesthetic. Their Rick and Morty animatic is amazing! Check it out here: • Rick and Morty fan ani...
As usual, thank you for all the support and new subscribers! I'll probably start making more Gotham content once the new season starts airing. :D - Krátké a kreslené filmy
I gave my party an NPC kenku based on this video. I even named her useless child. One of the guys adopted her and was overprotective of his daughter despite the fact that she could defend herself. In the end she died and my whole group cried
You monster why would you do this to them ;-;
nOoooOoOooO I GOT FRICKIN ATTACHED AFTER TWO SECONDS NO-
Meanwhile our party got attached to a random bartender in like 2minutes bc the absolute madlad took and shot a damm crossbow at the big bad to save our asses basically the man was a hero and saved us multiple times in a single fight in which i think my fucking rogue rolled a nat20 to grapple the big bad at one pointXD and we lowkey cried manly tears bc later he was brought back as a vampire spawn under the big bads control and we had to kill him
Josku2411 Bro, why you gotta do this to me ;~;
@@JJPoiesidion99 Feel what we felt

Where this from?
they can speak but only when mimicing other creatures
@@lorekeeper685 Kenku are a race in D&D. They were cursed long ago to be unable to speak - just mimic others around them. So they can only use words that they've heard from other people.
I love how even without the context this song just says so much about the characters, their backstories, relations, motivations. It's a truly unique emotional rollercoaster
Ok that was beautiful I must know what that campaign was about.
The Great Doomsplay1O5 Thank you so much!!! The campaign is ongoing but basically our party has encountered eldritch monsters of unknown origins, and we’re trying to figure out what they are. So far our party is Kalameet (aka Dragon Dad), Song the Kenku Bard, Embla the Human Barbarian, and Abalaba the Gnome Wizard. I didn’t include the eldritch stuff cause I wanted to focus on character interaction instead.
@@eldritch_sugar Yes I see that. I look forward to any other animatics you do with these pcs as they all seem very cool and well done.
I’m not a gnelf I’m not a gnoblen I’m a gnome and you’ve been GNOMED
@@eldritch_sugar Could tell me more about that Orc(?) Barbarian, Tiefling and child holding onto Kalameet when they were bleeding? Kalameet's family, and Song's parental figure. I'd enjoy hearing about any of the characters tbh
@@eldritch_sugar Song is really cute, so pass that onto your friend. So well done drawing them.

See this is why my characters either are the one that everyone loves or don’t interact with that one because this shit happens 4/5 times
I don't play d&d so I have no idea what's going on, but that bird creature is absolutely precious and the song is catchy
I guess the context is the bird person was raised by a dragonborn (the dragon person), and was killed by god knows what.
Easy Sneezy na na the dragon’s previous actual child was killed and the bird is like his chance to start over/he’s projecting onto the bird.
@@stripedpolkadots8692 it's pretty much The Last of Us but played out in D&D lol.
That dragonborn was so adorable though!!! My heart broke when I saw him crying! So well done! Great job at the animations.
mister song's dragon dad
This is the first video I’ve ever seen from you, but I can tell that this project truly meant something to you and your party from the production value, and the passion I feel from watching this is so genuine. The animatic perfectly showed a complex story of loss, the vocals along with the instrumentals was incredibly catchy and the singer sang in an non-typical way that I strangely like, and the lyrics reflecting the character’s thoughts became more meaningful the longer I watched. I would love to see more from you.
M P Thank you for such a lovely comment! People like you inspire me to make more art and show it to the world. You really made my night! TYSM!
D'oh my GOSH was this sad. What exactly happened? I assume that the Dragonborn was told he was a terrible child, and he grew up to be a very protecting paladin. However, he became too protective and his "children" were too weak to defend themselves so they died. (The dragonborn might've also accidentally demoralized his "children" just like his parents). I really like this, and contrary to your username, you totally CAN draw!
EDIT: @wowiwishicould draw
I rewatched it a couple of times, and I THINK I get what happened now? The Dragonborn, Kalameet, had a family of 4 that he protected and loved very much, but they left his side and ended up dying because of that. Kalameet started thinking he was worthless and lonely since he wasn't there to protect them even though that wasn't his fault. That's why he became a Grave Cleric and is very protective over Song. A question I had was was he telling Song that they are worthless? What happened to his other family? Their eyes are crossed out, not ripped and bloodied like the dead child in the photo. Still an amazing animatic!
If a child dies, most families break appart from the stress and the blame thrown about, likely Kalameet was then blamed for 'not being there to protect them' even if he was trying everything possible. But People rarely blame themselves and left him.
First off, thank you so much for caring enough about my video to make theories about it! It really means a lot to me.
Ok, plot time. This isn't very clear in the video, but Kalameet was in a war for a very long time, almost 300 years. He got out of it by being injured so badly he had to take time out of battle to recover (that's where he got the three scars over his right eye). He fell in love, started a family, and refused to go back to war because he was finally happy and had something to live for. But that all ended when his oldest daughter Drist was killed by the lord of Kalameet's village. His wife, Millandona, froze over the lord's castle in revenge, but then she confessed to Kalameet that she wasn't really a dragonborn. She had been pretending to be one the entire time they'd been together. She was actually a silver dragon. A few days later, their egg hatched and Millandona disappeared without a trace. Completely distraught, Kalameet gave his newly hatched daughter, Mal, to one of his sisters and travelled around with his son, Thun. Thun left Kalameet because he was emotionally distant. So his two remaining children are alive, and he doesn't know where his wife is/if she's even alive.
As for the Grave Cleric stuff, The goddess of death and stillness, Krush, had been observing Kalameet for a long time and after his family fell apart, she granted him powers.
When he first met Song, he didn't want to get close to someone because he was afraid of people around him getting hurt or dying, so he tried to distance himself from them. But they reminded him too much of Drist and so he stayed with them to protect them, creating a new family with the other party members in the process.
I hope this clears things up! I'm working on a TL;DR video to explain the full backstory and explain what's happened so far in the campaign. Again, thank you so much for the support!!!
wowiwishicould draw holy fuck that sounds like an great story.
I wonder if kalameet will ever find the answers.
wowiwishicould draw How did he live for that long?
BOUNTYHUNTER JG
Dragonborn have long lifespans
I just literally cried.
You draw so well, and the way you portrayed this story really brought it to life... fantastic!
This is a really big hamburger... a lot to unwrap
Okay, so here's my take on the story. Kalameet had a family of four, but one day, his youngest child had wandered away from him and then got run over by a chariot of somesorts, that event resulting in their death. Kalameet feels incredibly guilty because of this. Then, Kalameet meets Song, and basically treats them as his long lost son, growing incredibly attached to them. From the ending, what I gathered is that Kalameet almost dies, and sees his dead child, making him even more mournful, but then Song saves him, growing their bond more?
This is probably wrong, but it's just my take ;P
dammit, youtube. all I searched for was 'kenku animatic' I wasn't looking to get punched directly in my feelings.
I'm not crying, you're crying.
It was only like one minute into the video when I thought, "these cinnamon rolls need protection." I got attached too quickly and then they got hurt. T~T At least the ending was happy. Truly a wonderful work!
Edit: HOW DO I CLICK THE LIKE BUTTON MORE THAN ONCE? Also you got yourself a new subscriber!
This animatic reminds me of when my one-winged arracokra bard adopted a goblin. The goblin (we named him gibbon) was really sweet but pretty much had ptsd. My character couldn’t always be there for him but the established a really close “big brother” attachment. We switch out NPCs that go on quests the goblin went with the party on one quest and did really well, my character even ended up giving him the bandana that he wore around his neck as a thanks. My character died the next adventure, this was only a few sessions ago and it was heart wrenching for this already traumatized and abandoned goblin to loose his loved ones all over again. Aswell as it was really hard for my character to die, he was definitely a favorite of mine and had some really got relationships and emotional moments. I’m still kinda depressed, it feels like I lost a friend.
Hope you get to fly agin Uno. 💙
What seems to happen every time I see a video like this I am immediately incredibly invested in the story and after watching your other video (D&D Party Intro thing) I gotta say... I need more. This story sounds unbelievably interesting and I would love to hear about as much of it as possible.
Also that scene in which Kalameet is holding Song and protecting them with his shield while healing him just makes me love this character already.
Despite only knowing of him for a short time, drist shall hold a place in my, and hopefully our hearts.
“If only I could just turn the hands back on the clock…”
That line hits hard for me. And conveniently MY Red Dragonborn sorcerer. He got stuck in a war when he was 10 and lost his parents. He still thinks he could have done something. (Also he came face to face with “something bad” while running through the battle. He held up his hands in defence and closed his eyes for just a moment, and suddenly all that he saw in front of him was ash scattering in the wind)
So, when you think about it…
He thinks he was a…
Useless Child.
oof
hit me right in the feels
That was so lovely! The feels man, I just started my first d&d campaign and hope that actual emotional shizzle is gonna happen there as well, man I love your way of sharing this story. I'm so curious now about what else happened in your campaign ^_^
Nelle Thank you so much!!! I hope your campaign goes well! It’s so rewarding when emotional moments happen. In my campaign, we’re wrapping up a tournament arc, so expect to see a video related to that in the future
@@eldritch_sugar I can't wait to see more! I already subscribed but I would double subscribe if I could!
Don't be disappointed if the emotional stuff doesn't happen immediately. Our current campaign started basically as discount sherlock holmes and it's emotional peak was when my wizard, after assassinating 4 people in their sleep, went to his wizard teacher, admitted everything he'd done and ask crying: "Did I do the right thing? Am I a good person?" And my teacher didn't answer.
I actually cried irl.
@@royal9743 How did your campaign go?
Okay, this song is stuck in my head now and this whole thing is amazing!! It tells so much about the characters and their feelings and the way they interact and I must see more!!!
I have no words that can express how amazing this is. I can't even properly utter how beautiful and how close i felt to this. Its like my insecurities and fears have been heard and told in a way that i'm too weak to say on my own. To the creators and to all the people out there who feel that they are a worthless, no good, forgettable being know that there are others who feel and know your pain. Know that there are people who love you and want the VERY ABSOLUTELY BEST FOR YOU. You are not alone even though you feel you are. With all my heart and with everyone else's we love you and we care about you and we want the absolute best for you no matter your race, status, education, mental and/or physical issues, we want the absolute best for you. DON'T! Please DON'T let the darkness of this world befall you and make you it's undead servant. Please spread the love and protect those who have no one to protect them and don't be afraid to have others protect you aswell.
Find 20 lvl wizard to use a wish spell boom happy ending
Oh my God, that's beautiful. Such a great piece of art.
I'm done watching this on repeat. It's like when you feel like you're going to sneeze then don't but with tears and my heart can't take it anymore

Welp, watched this first thing in the morning despite already knowing the feels. My heart is melting again. Great work though!
I love your animatics. They convey the story so very well.
Kenku characters are best characters
Thanks you so much for reminding me that this song exists.
Now if you'll excuse me, i'm going to crying in a corner now. ;-;
holly shit that was dark but beautiful
Wow this is absolutely amazing! I’m happy I found this and I can’t wait to see/hear more about what you and your party get up to.
I’m starting a campaign soon and I hope that my character is even half as interesting as yours.
I don't even know your characters and yet I'm over here crying abt them
Okay you need to tell me more about this campaign and just everyone! I've been interested in dnd for a while now and even made a character! But I never have the motivation or time to get and join one 😭
D&D is my favorite anime
I cannot even BEGIN to find the words to describe how much I love this! I keep coming back to watch this and I even shared it with my own D&D friends.
Plus I want to give the Dragon Dad some hugs because he looks like he needs them. ;~;
i love that the tone of the song is super happy
This animatic still has a grip on me after three years, it's so good. I come back every couple of months, the story is beautiful.
I love this so much!! The character designs and the artwork?? ✨💕FLAWLESS💕✨ also I love that just from the video you can tell so much about the characters without words and just- I LOVE IT
I loved it, the execution needed work but it showed the connections and expressed the emotions perfectly
been listening to this none stop
Oh man, that actually got me a little choked up, you've done a fantastic job.
Thank you for your vids!
Wow! Awesome work, could really feel the emotions in this. Went down and read the story behind it, awesome job emoting that!
Damn, well done!
I hadnt been at the table
I don't know these folks or the nature of the struggle
And I'm crying. This is such a good anamatic (?) And I'm happy you shared this with the internet
Thank you
This was so meaningful and it mad me cry
Thank you for this emotional song miss loved it so much😂
This is absolutely beautiful.
You and your party keep making beautiful stories
Art and story are amazing. The song sounds like it was supposed to be Vocaloid but got English dubbed XD
I keep rewatching the shot of them walking, it's my fav, by FAR I just... I love it so much it's so telling!
I don't know the story behind this but from what I can actually make out sounds awesome! And this Kenku seems such a great character and their character dynamic seems amazing
I did not expect to cry tonight.
Thank you.
This is amazing!
OML! this was very sad! There is so much in this video, I could spend hours studying and decoding all the symbolism and emotion shown in this video! The history of the characters is very tragic : <
This is amazing. you earned all of this.
Thank you so much!!! I appreciate all the support!!!
GREAT ANIMATION 10/10 WOULD CRY AGAIN
You really got make me have alllll these feels?!
This is probably the video I've watched the most on youtube, well besides Mind Electric, both great vids.
I now have a new favorite song. Thank you for that.
This is the type of reasons why I play dnd.1: great video 2: If the campaign is still going hope your character is still alive and going.
The word child was said 22 times.
Well bugger, here I'm getting the feels and am tearing up
Nicely made!
brought me to the brink of tears.
I’ve watched this multiple times and this was the first time I didn’t start to cry. I got like halfway to crying but this time I managed to enjoy the rest of the animation without everything being blurred. Absolutely lovely. The part that always got me was the increasing distress in the singer’s voice at “child... child...” near the end
Only thing that bugs me is that I thought the Kenku were a mum and daughter and I thought that was cuter but oh well it’s not your fault. Plus the line with the diapers makes less sense in the context of wives unless those kenku are into some weird shit which I will think about no longer.
Why is this such a good and happy song like wtf
I’m crying and I don’t know if it’s happiness from this great song or if it’s sadness from this great song.
COPPA gonna think it's kids content because it's animated and they're gonna fine you because they see the video lyrics.
*What A time to be on CZcams*
Man how do they think children will grow up and find their own interests. It's such a shame man because the government doesn't know what kids like and what older people like.
I'm glad you brought this up. If these policies go into effect in their current state, I'm likely going to end my presence on this platform. I can't see the point of trying to make my type of content at the risk of being fined large sums of money, even if my channel isn't monetized. I'm planning on addressing this in a video soon.
@@eldritch_sugar so sad to hear.

Ooof, amazing work.
I do videos based off my D&D campaign as well! I like seeing others makes videos about their's too! Especially music videos, since it helps give an idea about what the mindset of the characters are going through!
That was awesome.
a kenku bard... that's a very good idea, they can remember songs and convey messages trough that
My heart.....oh that was beautiful
You need at least 1000 sub's, no, MORE, you deserve it
What a fun bunch of kids.
This is how villains/big bads come to be
This cover is better than any female cover I’ve heard thus far. Good job, dude! Did anyone else think they were hearing Danny Gonzalez this whole time?

Dark... very dark but that's what makes it so lovely
I just love the design of these characters.
Four years ago I found your video and I am here once more. Hope you’re doing well
Cute as hell. Subbed.
The ride never ends
Why do you make me cry?

I‘m not crying! Well- I am- but you are too! So there!
all they way listening to this I coudnt help my self of being reminded constantly (both of some events in my own life) and a LOT to Undertale. I believe that was the idea, if not this could easily be an Undertale kind of story
I'd like to have an hour of this
