The West Somerset Railway diesel gala welcomed an additional guest this weekend in the form of a GWR Castle Class high speed train set, coming for storage on the line.
43154 and 43155 have been in warm storage at Laira Depot since October last year, and following successfully passing their engine exams and running to the WSR on Friday, they ran a 2+4 set this weekend on gala passenger services, alongside the heritage visiting and home fleet diesel locomotives starring at the event. Here are a few highlights from Saturday, including the visiting Class 20s, Class 50, Class 24 and Peak, as well as the home fleet Hymek and Class 14 among others! | 08.06.2024
