- Watch me go through this 2001 dodge ram 1500 5.9 magnum and replace the head gaskets.
I have never tore one of these down or even a head gasket job in my entire 40 some odd year life. I know enough but my knowledge is based in Volkswagen years. lmao
This block is thrashed. As you can see. bought this off some 20yr old kid who wanted 2500 for it Got it for 1500. it's in great condition. but the motor was ran with oil in coolant. I have helped with that process but it's a solid bet he ran it through the first head gasket install and then finally figured out it was fukd when he ran out of coolant. that's where I come in. I only spent ~1k for parts and tools. and if I do everything right, I stand to make double because there is a huge market in this area for them.
And you know exactly how it's going back together. decked heads and some fresh install on gaskets with new timing chain.
I'm sure all the damage came from the previous owner.
