Worked like magic and the sound on my beat up 5-yo $30 Walmart Ironman is back! Thank you Brother Mike, and may Allah bless you for sharing your knowledge. Much love and respect from Istanbul, Türkiye.

Had the ‘no chime’ and ‘no alarm’ problem on a Timex Ironman after a battery replacement. Cut a small circular piece of paper and covered the battery with it just like the video calls for. Worked like a charm!! Thanks for the video!!

Thanks, that worked. If Timex reads this: You really need to improve the battery change procedure on your watches. I have a Timex Ironman Classic. I lost the little screw that holds the battery strap down, which is my fault, but after finding it and getting the battery installed the watch wouldn't turn on. The paper label on the old battery said I need to short out two brass looking metal protrusions on the back of the watch, so I did and it turned on. Than I couldn't get the speaker to work because I put the metal cover on the wrong way. This took much longer than I expected. Thanks for your video.

About EXPEDITION watch, the back has a circle that CANNOT be placed over battery like you’d think in order for sound to work.
    Super video thanks for sharing

There should be 2 gold coils that touch the back plate, one of those coils looks like a spring, the other has a little contact leg on the end that reaches over the battery.
If that leg isn’t touching the special circle on the inside of the back cover, no chime.
If you try to install the battery without lifting the leg, it could bend the leg and angle it downward such that it touches the battery, or doesn’t make contact with the case, as was the case with my watch.
Ideally, that sticker (or inserted paper) is meant to help prevent a short between that contact and battery +.

I didn't pay attention to the position of my cover when I took it off to replace the battery. When I reassembled it, I figured that the round pad on the underside of the cover lined up with the battery. I had neither beep nor chime. After reading your comment I took the cover back off, turned it 180 degrees so that the brass spring was contacting that round pad, and now my beep and chime functions are back. Thanks!

1st thank you Mike and To God for helping me to find you... Any way I have Timex watch Expedition that I Just took to place to replace the battery . Every thing was great until I found no Beep of Chimes. Found this video. I took my watch off and notice the back plate was upside down. Found my set of small driver set ( that just happen to be an ez place to find) Flip the back plate right side up and wow. All the beeps work great.. Thank you

Holy crap, this actually worked. Though even then it was twitchy. The first time I put the paper in place, it worked, but then it stopped working after I screwed the back on again. I ended up putting two pieces of paper over the battery, and moving things around slightly about half a dozen times, and it finally stayed beeping again.

Awesome! Just a little piece of paper!? And yes, give God the glory and thanks for sharing. I thought I’d broken the watch when changing the battery.

Excellent!!! It worked, very simple video to a very simple (but sometimes mind-blowing) problem of a digital watch without any sound. You are awesome. Thanks so much, my daughter will be very happy that I could fix her watch. Best regards

The functional purpose for the paper is: The tiny brass or silver colored wire spring must contact the watch back and not the battery.

wow facinating, my timex ironman NA33's alarm and chimes is not working, i ll try your method.

It's because the back plate has been put on the wrong way round. Easy fix.

Yep I had the exact same issue, the beep not working after battery change, two things to make sure are in place: 1 case orientation, and 2 the battery sticker! I threw out my battery sticker and couldn't figure out why the beep wasn't working. I put a small piece of paper over the battery and now the beep works again. It seems that the sticker has a function of insulating the case back from shorting to the battery.
