- With the upcoming release of Sonic Origins Plus bringing back all 12 Sega Game Gear Games, I thought I'd cover some of them leading up to it. So here's how you can get all of the six chaos emeralds in 8-bit Sonic 2 on Game Gear and unlock the true good ending to the game! This game also features a hidden zone for getting all the chaos emeralds called Crystal Egg Zone! After beating the boss fight, you save Tails!

5:46 the 6th Chaos Emerald is in Scrambled Egg Act 3, not 2. The footage is correct, but the label in the video chapter is incorrect.
Oops. Thanks for catching that. All the prior emeralds were in Act 2 which is why I likely made that error. Thanks. I’ll fix the time stamp label

This was my first Sonic game I ever played, and although it is so hard, I actually enjoyed it - also, this is one of the few games I’ve played where I loved every single soundtrack score! My favourite is the music from Gimmick Mountain Zone

I don’t like sonic 2 8-but for reasons (I prefer 16-bit version) but since you showed all emeralds locations, thanks + I subscribed to you and I appreciate it. Now I can go back to the 8-bit, take away rage and negativity things, and start over from scratch

It comforts me that this game is still hard. As a boy I could find only 3 or 4 emeralds, and had absolutely no clue about the missing ones. By the way, I'm disappointed about the good ending! The bad one was so heartbreaking..😢

Addressing my previous comment, no, I still don’t like this game, I think it’s unfair at times, but if you enjoy it, more power to you, I think this game has pretty good controls and some solid level design, I just can’t stand the boss fights

what is it about this game that makes it so notoriously hard?
Almost every zone is full of frustrations.
1. The game has no checkpoints at all, if you die, back to the start of the level
2. Constant bottomless pits and spikes ohhhh boy does this game love to throw spikes any chance it gets at ya
3. The boss in Under Ground zone is practically almost impossible due to the way the slopes work and screen crunch, also why does Eggman even save Sonic from falling down into lava, shouldn’t he have just let it happen? Lol
4. Getting the Chaos emeralds can be really odd, I mean the second one is practically impossible to get without trial and error since you have no idea what clouds you’re supposed to jump on and what you aren’t
5. Aqua Lake’s shrimp placement combined with the bubbles and spikes are stupidly dumb
6. The tubes in the zone before Crystal Egg is straight up a maze, yet again tons of trial and error
7. Crystal Egg Zone’s final boss is genuinely one of the most difficult fights ever due to how unpredictable nearly ALL the attacks are

It's actually a little bit easier on the Sega Master System with the bigger screen in all, but not by much haha. I kinda only tolerate this game because it was the first one I played on the game gear

I had this when I was a kid and for the master system, I loved it. Was a challenge and a great plaformer for the system. Must have been to difficult for you

@@UltraSTH Ive only managed to finish this game 25 years later due to save states. It was really nearly impossible. but I love how they experimented with the different levels and abilites in these games
I will never understand why the spin attack was left out of this game.
